Honestly, Halo wasn't sure the bear was going to make it at first. The creature had been sickly, wounded, and looked overall worse for wear. Still, as time went on, he stabilized. Day by day he grew stronger, the wounds began to heal, and he perked up alright. The creature was still in one piece. Halo viewed it as a minor miracle, actually. Watching him grow up alongside the children was also lovely, and he seemed to play nicely with them. She's pleased.
Considering the length of time the stitches had been in, the healer figured it had likely been long enough. Halo called for Wylan and his little friend, beginning to prep her work space and lay out the tools. A tiny and very sharp knife, a little pick made from bone, a clean rawhide to cover the work surface. A couple of additional candles to provide adequate light, despite the autumn sun still hanging high in the sky. Antiseptic ointment that Halo had perfected over the time spent up north, one that had a damn good track record. She dried her tools from their quick bath in boiling water and waited for her son and her patient.

Now that the bear was allowed out of the healer's den, he found it accompanying him more and more around the pack. He was beginning to get accustomed to his presence. He was just another friend that was always there, like Seer’s Bear, and his parents' companions.
When Halo called for him and the Bear (was he supposed to name him? He wasn’t sure) he paused, feeling oddly and surprisingly worried. His mother wasn’t going to tell him that it was time for the bear to go home, was she? Shooting his companion an alarmed expression, he turned and headed towards Halo. Really, there was only one way to find out.
When they arrived, they found an array of tools that his mother was preparing. He sniffed the air curiously, and the scent of the antiseptic ointment was the strongest of the lot. “What’s this, mumma?’ he asked, and then, more quietly “You aren’t going to send him home now, are you?” His eyes got wide, his expression open, and worried.
