They were settling the Maw, but it would take time. It would take time to truly settle, to drive away all the dangers. All the threats. All of the things that went bump in the night... or in this case, the daytime. Early afternoon had settled over them, the sun still hanging high in the sky. Víðarr has gone looking for trouble, and it wouldn't be long until he found it. The Maw wasn't the most friendly terrain he could have chosen, but when had he ever taken the easy route? As if to congratulate his choice, it seemed that the roosts of ravens were perhaps greater in number here. Yes, Víðarr is pleased with the omen.
Not as much an omen, but a reminder this place was still wild, he caught wind of the bear. He would need to drive it out or kill it, and at this height, he knew which one would be easier. Evicting predators would likely be a big part of what he did for the next few weeks, that and making sure they were sorted out for the winter. Winter. By the gods, he loves the winters here. Right, bears first, religious pining later.
With his head high and teeth gleaming, Víðarr descended on the bear. It had been ambling about one of the berry-filled bushes that populated this area of the mountain. Jaws snapping, snarling, he threw himself upon the grizzly, no use fucking around.

Fucking around and finding out, those are basically the two things he's been best at lately. Víðarr is happy to launch himself at the bear, no longer fussing. No longer taking the time to square up, just diving in head first. He's pretty good at that, and the way he handles his predators? Well, it's choreographed. Orchestrated by a man who knows exactly what he's doing, and exactly what it takes. What it takes. Well, he's learned. He's seen. He's proven it. Víðarr was happy to prove it.
Lorikeet's advances leave him chuckling, not uncharacteristic as he finds himself locked in the heat of a fight. More than anything, he's enjoying himself. By the gods, does he enjoy himself most in moments like this. Already feeling the gore drip down the side of his face, matching the bear's movements to his own. Fuck he loves this feeling. "You'll have to take that up with my wife," the words are chosen with intent. Appreciation for a woman is something he knows better than many, and while there's been no ceremony yet, his intentions with Tenshi were clear. He would appreciate the help with the bear, though, as the creature swipes him across the head with a great, furry paw. Oof, his bell a bit rung and his attention back on the predator before he can react to the slap on his behind.

Was Lorikeet perhaps making it difficult to focus on the bear at hand? Yes. Was Víðarr complaining? No, not in the slightest. Still, his ears were still ringing after taking a good whack from the bear. Hard pressed to wipe the grin from his face, he continues his assault on the bear. There was no slowing, no surrendering. As the bear rounded on Lorikeet, Víðarr took the opening.
Opening in the form of hamstringing the bear. His teeth sunk into the creature's flesh, feeling his teeth sink through its coat and into something deeper. Finding purchase, digging in, holding. Holding on as tightly as he can, sinking his weight over his hind legs. Víðarr is fighting for control over the situation, fighting for control over the creature that flailed and snarled within his jaws. In his periphery, he catches the cat, antlers similar to its master. Víðarr rather likes cats, and it seems that cat people (wolves?) were rather... his kind of people. Yes, it would do to have more domestic cats around the mountain. He liked that idea.
Right, the bear. Víðarr continued to tug backwards, dragging the bear off balance as he did. Well on his way to toppling the predator, and well on their way to coming out of this victorious.
