predator fight
Gil had not expected there to be predators lurking about the isle. For such a remote piece of land, he figured the prey options were abundant due to a lack of meat-eating fiends. He was wrong the moment he smelled the feline lurking about. During his scouting trip, he hadn't seen sign or scent of the thing, but now that they had moved in, he was surprised it was being so bold. The feline had gotten lucky and taken a piece of a burro they had recently taken - that had been the final straw. Now the Raid King moved through the dense underbrush searching for it. No one would be so stupid as to steal from them and get away with it.
He waited until nightfall when the beast would be active. A coward he was not. Slinking through the shadows, Gil continued deep into the isle until it was near impossible to move. From what he could see, he noticed the big cat using the upper limbs of the trees to maneuver most of its pathways. That would be fine. They would find it, corner it, and then take it down. Hungry to feel the thrill of a fight, Gil pressed on. His heartbeat raced as his muscles tightened with anticipation and the buzz of adrenaline kept him awake.

The acrid scent of feline piss burned her nose and the nightmare planned to live up to her title once she found the offender that was daring to mark her own as it's. It seemed her father had the same idea and she moved to his right side, eyes turned towards the trees above. She made a bright target under this much canopy at night, so she was sure to keep him out of range of her glow. Let the cat think this fight was one on one, and maybe it would get brave. She was keen to tackle the thing head on anyway, her nearing maturity wreaking havoc on her emotions. A fight would do her some good.

The scent of his growing daughter surprised him. As of late, she had been spending most of her time elsewhere. Probably with that Armada boy. It only bothered him slightly, but the sight of her moving closer to his right side quickly dissipated those feelings. Actually, he was rather pleased that she had shown up to help. The ebbing glow of her coat would definitely help as a decoy to lure the cat into the fight.
Realizing this made him refocus on the task at hand. Allowing the energy to take over as he continued to climb through the dense jungle. He could hear the noise of the jaguar's claws on bark as it also scrambled through the treetops. Its pungent scent was stronger than before. The beast was closer. Gil grew hungrier to take it down as they neared it. His eyes flicker over to Deluge before nodding his head in the direction toward the right of the jaguar. "Lure it that way and I'll follow," he rasps before hanging back a moment. He would let her take lead and see how far she had come before jumping in to help finish it off.

When her father's direction came, she flicked an ear to show she had heard him but didn't acknowledge the order otherwise, knowing she was by far the more visible of the two. She moved, only flicking her eyes to the treetops occasionally to make sure she wasn't taken completely off guard when the heavy cat she could feel stalking her from overhead took the bait.
The scrabble of claws on bark was the first warning, the low grating snarl the second. Deluge spun as quickly as she could, dropping her head to drive her antlers into the neck and shoulder of the big cat, but she wasn't quick enough to avoid the painful dig of claws into her shoulder. Despite the way her teeth clamped together to offset the adrenalin and pain, she grinned, raising her own cat-like paws to strike at her attacker. Her antlers were keeping those sharp and dangerous teeth away from the back of her neck, and she wasn't quite sure she wanted to adjust the angle of her head to try and bite at her opponent as well if it might mean the end of her.

Gil had always been proud of his pups. They were growing into such fine adults. As he watched Deluge move through the jungle, luring the cat away, his admiration for her grew. Though she was a little reckless, like most young wolves, she was smart, capable, and talented. He was proud to say she was his daughter. He relished that feeling as he followed after her. Staying back quite a bit so the cat wouldn't notice him moving through the shadows.
It doesn't take long for the cat to make its move. Watching it leap from above, he is thoroughly impressed when Deluge whirls around to jab her antlers into the cat's body. Noticing that those antlers are the only thing keeping her next say as he watches sharp claws marr the other, he lunges forward. His fangs fly down as he wraps his front paws around the cat's hips. Biting down on the top of the cat's back, he digs into the ground with his hind paws to keep the cat from moving forward any closer to Deluge.

With her father attacking the rear of the cat, the downward pressure along her neck and spine from holding the cat at bay with her antlers eased up. Realising that it was now outnumbered, she felt the feline claws pull away from her shoulders as the cat tried to spin in its panic to see what was going on behind it.
Deluge took the opportunity that was presented to her, angling her head upwards to clamp her jaws around the muscular cats throat. She felt a burning, wet sensation as a clawed paw lifted to push at her chest, and she wasn't sure if the scent of blood in the air was hers or her opponent's, but she wasn't going to let go to find out. The cat was strong, it's body thick. She could feel the muscles spasming between her teeth as she bit down harder, and harder again. Her jaws were aching, and she wondered if the Jaguar had the same black spots floating in the corners of its vision as they both inched closer to the ground.
