There's a renewed vigor to him. Something that's pure, something that's brilliant. It lives in his chest and colors every action he takes. Sheer, stunning vitality has washed over the viking king since taking up the title. Responsibility, the weight of alphahood, it's really quite becoming of him. Though Viðarr doesn't have as much a free pass to be reckless these days, it's worth it. His family was together, they had their mountain, and things were going beautifully. Everything is wonderful.
Even in the midst of wonderful things, he knows that he needs to stay sharp. Stay vigilant. Stay prepared. Maybe that's why he crosses down the north side of the mountain. Maybe that's why he puts one foot in front of the other until he's on the Battlefield. Really, the truth is that Viðarr just likes to fucking fight. He tips his head back, stepping up to the ring. Tips his head back and lets go a call. Someone come for him. Someone come at him. The viking king will let down his hair and he will fight.

Apparently, things were keeping Akito from making it back to the bamboo. It felt that if he longed for it more, the fates prevented him further. As if they wanted to give him life lessons early. Not that he was opposed to any of it, but he missed it. He wanted summer back. The balmy, hot, sticky weather that could slap you in the face if you weren't ready for it. In the meantime, as he daydreamed of his home, he made his way across the battlefield. Someone had mentioned that others came here to spar. A spar would be fun, wouldn't it? Half-not paying attention and half-aware, a familiar scent catches him. Then his maybe father's ringing call echoes over the barren wasteland. A smirk to himself blips over his lips before disappearing. Akito is once more the stoic facade of a statue as he changes direction, picks up the pace, and approaches Vidarr. Monochrome eyes stay vigilant on the titan as he nears. Coming from behind the shadow, Akito gives him no warning. Stretching out his legs so that his paws hardly make a sound against the dry earth, he lowers his ears, raises his hackles, and opens wide. Lowering himself to a better position, he aims to lunge in and grab ahold of the Konungr's ankle. The only sound he makes is the clacking of his teeth as he goes in to surprise Vidarr. |

The attack had come by surprise, even for the viking king. As aware as he typically is, the searing pain in his ankle suggested that he missed something. At once, he's hit with the boy, and he breaks into a grin upon impact. Recognizing the boy at once-- one of his own. Or, maybe not, but that didn't matter. That never needed to matter, in Viðarr's mind. Children of murky origin weren't uncommon among his people. The young boy was fierce, strong, and one that Viðarr would be happy to claim.
A heartbeat after teeth connect with his flesh, Viðarr kicked out. The movement is an effort to press his ankle farther into the boy's mouth, and possibly push him off. In the same breath, he rounds on the boy, teeth flashing white in the harsh sunlight. It was a sneaky move, and the viking king is proud. Though Viðarr does not strike with the same force he would in a real battle, he does move with the same speed. No, this is training, but he isn't going easy on Akito. Viðarr respects him too much for that.
Teeth reach out recklessly, aim taken for the place his son had attacked from. He'd approached slowly, to have moved so silently. There would be no momentum built up, and Viðarr could use that to his advantage. Heart pounding in his chest, the viking king was already enjoying this.

Teeth grasp the thin skin around Vidarr's ankle. Sinking in, Akito doesn't bite down as he would on a predator. Instead, he is forced to as Vidarr retaliates by lifting his paw and shoving the leg further into Akito's mouth. His paws go skidding as he is slid backward. Though Akito is growing and his legs are long, he is still slim and in the process of building muscle. Moving him around is easy for the heavy titan. As he is yanking himself away from Vidarr's leg, trying to make room between them, he is surprised when those large pearly whites come snapping back at him. He sees Vidarr twisted around, aiming right for him. Scrambling to make space between them, he barely dodges Vidarr's advance. If he were older, bigger, stronger, he would have pushed back. Would have gone for Vidarr's face as he went for his. But he can't yet. He's still too small, too young. He needs practice. So the best he can do for now is dance out of the way. Listening to the clack of his father's teeth, Akito hops and moves with agile paws. While Vidarr is still curled around toward him, Akito lunges to Vidarr's outer side and goes in to try and grab ahold of the man's scruff. It is a bold and reckless attack, one that he shouldn't have made, but he knows Vidarr. Trusts Vidarr to not shred him into slices. |

He is building that muscle, and Viðarr can see it. Though the boy lacks bulk, he's going to be something. Viðarr doesn't push as hard as he could, allowing the boy a chance to catch himself, to feel like he has a chance. Trying to light a fire in the boy, ignite the spark. Turn it into a flame... yes. Akito scrambles, and Viðarr tosses his head a bit. Inviting chase, hoping to entice the boy into striking. They would go over it later, this is okay. Viðarr is gleaming, thriving in this moment.
He dances back, and then-- oh. An interesting show of aggression. A reckless show of aggression. Was there berserker rage inside the boy? Is that what Viðarr saw, manifesting before his very eyes? Though there was some uncertainty in his mind, the sire of this particular pup, it's clear to him now. Lunging for his scruff, Viðarr can feel the pup try to latch on. The viking king leans forward, tucks his shoulder in. Rounds his back and shoulders, in an attempt to roll the pup right off. He mediates his speed some, not wanting to hurt the boy, should he make abrupt contact with the ground. Letting him down easily, while enough to hopefully show him why that wasn't the best idea.
Panting, but proud, Viðarr is certain that this is his boy.
