They were going on a trip! A trip farther than she had ever been on before! Ursa's good-natured and happy-go-lucky attitude kept her warm as they traveled south through the snow. From the wintry slopes of the col down to the expanse of sand that glittered in the southern sun, Ursa was amazed. All of the different terrains they had gone through had been such an experience! And with her father at her side, she felt invincible! They'd even met a few family members along the way and hunted so many different animals. Yet, she was excited to see what they would find in Auster. The idea alone of Auster was incredible and Ursa simply couldn't wait.

Her pace picks up as they come down toward the end of the rocky and steep valley where her pale lilac eyes land on the sparkling sands of the Bifrost. From here, she can see the shadowy buildings of Hearthstone, the Hallow's main residence. A quiet gasp falls from her ivory lips as she comes to a stop in the sand. Wiggling her toes, she looks back over her shoulder to her father, Mortis. "Dad, the sand here is warm! And soft!" The young and round pup exclaims as her tail wags excitedly behind her. Unsurprisingly, the sand here was much different than the cove back home. Without hesitation, Ursa sticks her nose down and digs it into the sand a bit and moves it around until she's pulling her head back up and sneezes a few times.

"Oh, this is so beautiful and long and whoa! All this water!" Her excitement is clear as she bounds along the Bifrost toward the center of the land bridge. "Why's it so different dad? Is there where we're fishing?" She calls out, her tongue hanging from her lips as she hops and skips further along. "You think there's big fish out here?! Like big big fish!" Ursa is more than happy to be somewhere new! Especially since it wasn't so cold here! The sun was shining and there wasn't a single cloud to be seen! Well, except out in the distance. Storm clouds lingered along the ocean's horizon but those were so far away! Nothing to worry about!

"Teach me to fish, pleeeeease," Ursa finally stops as her whining tones call out to Mortis. Turning in place to face her winged father, she grins up at him as she shifts her weight back and forth, practically tapping and dancing where she stood.

Mortis wanted his pups to be familiar with the world around them. Not everything started and stopped with the Armada (even if his father believed otherwise). A large part of that was letting his pups see how large the world was, and getting a feel for travelling. That way, they would always know their way home.

With that in mind, he took a few days off from his pack responsibilities, and took Ursa down to the Bifrost. Seeing her delight in the warmer weather made the trip worth it. He let her race across the sand, trotting at a slower pace behind her. When she stopped to dig, he caught up to her. “Auster is far enough away that they experience summer when we have winter” He explained to Ursa, and then she was up again, heading along the Bifrost.

“Fish can grow pretty big out here, this is connected to the sea, and drops off quite sharply on the sides, so be careful!” he warned her, still trotting along behind her. She stopped again, and he got a chance to catch up again. He stopped beside her, and turned his direction to the ocean on the side closest to them. “Alright, let's start with fishing. First of all, I brought some bait. Sprinkle this across the surface to attract some fish” he instructed her, handing the jar over to her.

Mortis' words went in one ear and then out the other. Not that she wasn't listening to her father, but she was so excited to be out and about! Especially when she had the protection of her very large father to keep her safe, she had not a worry in the world! And even though she was near exhausted from how much they had traveled to get down here, she couldn't wait to explore further!

A gasp leaves her as she is amazed at the fact that Auster experienced summer when they had winter. "That is so crazy! I totally noticed though! It is waaaaay warmer down here than at home!" Ursa exclaimed, her excited tones echoing over the sand and causing the water to ripple away from her. Giggling as she spun a few circles to get out more of her energy, she finally stopped when Mortis motioned her over to begin her first real fishing lesson.

"I'm always careful, dad!" Ursa says, faking pouting and even sticking her tongue out at him before giggling once more. When he hands her over the jar of fish bait, she sticks her nose in it and leans back with a disgusted look. "Bleck! What is this stuff!" Her high-pitched voice makes an impolite noise as she pushes the jar away from herself while Mortis explains what exactly they are going to do.

"Not sure why fish would think this is tasty," there is almost a whine in her tone as she sticks her paw into the jar. Grabbing some of the icky feeling bait, Ursa pulls her paw out and flings it out toward the water. Okay, so she may have been a little aggressive about it, but she wanted that stinky stuff as far away from her as possible! Once she sets the jar back down on the sand and stands as still as she can beside her dad, she looks up at him with a wagging tail and bright smile. "Okay, was that good!?" She exclaims before looking back out at the water.

Was that a ripple she was seeing? Were the fish really attracted to that stuff?! "Oo, dad, is that something!?" Ursa calls out rather loudly.

He could watch Ursa having fun all day. Seeing her so care free, laughter on her muzzle, was everything he wanted in life. He had no idea how much he could love kids, until he had wound up with his own under paw. It was perhaps a little harder than usual to get her attention, but Mortis is nothing if not patient, laughing softly as he watched her spin before she trotted over to him. He pulled her into a hug with one long, feathered wing. Squeezing gently, and then releasing her.

“I know you are, Ursa, but some things are worth repeating.” He teased her gently. When she took the jar, the first thing she did was take a big sniff of it. Perhaps he should have warned her, but she was here to experience life. Even the awful smelling parts of it. Laughing lightly, he reached out a paw to steady the jar so she didn’t knock it over. “Bits of worms and eels” He explained to her. A strong smell was good - for the fish!

“Fish are strange, they think toes are tasty too.” He said, giving her the side eye. His pups had definitely been known for toe-biting in their days. As he teased her, she stuck a paw in the jar to grab at some of the bait. Despite hating the smell, she was game to give it a go and he was proud of her. She flung it out into the water, and they both watched as it settled on the surface, before some of the heavier bits began to sink. “That was perfect, sweetheart” He promised her.

“Shhh, you’ll scare them away” he warned her as she suddenly spoke, her voice breaking the silence and the ripples in the water died down for a moment. But, as they kept their silence, they started up again. Ripples and bubbles as fish began to feed on the stinky remains of the bait. “Here they come” he whispered to Ursa. “Now, you need to creep closer to the shore, careful not to cast a shadow on the water. When you think you have a shot, pounce! okay?” he whisper-instructed to her.
