The sun! The sun! It had been raining pretty much all day, and really for the last few days, on and off. Even when it wasn't actively raining, the days seemed to be cloudy and always threatening it. Selkie was less than amused with being cooped up inside, it was like they were still scared she'd catch her death from the cold or something. The child insisted she was fine thank you very much! Now that the clouds had broken and even begun to burn away, leaving the sun shining down through a still sorta-chilly afternoon, there was no reason Selkie should have to stay inside. At least if she brought someone with her they couldn't be so hesitant about it. "Gem," she called for her sister from the doorway. "Gem come on, let's go see if we can find some clay or something." Selkie was already antsy to leave, stepping out into the sunlight, then needing to go back for some sort of vessel to actually collect it all in. A stoneware bowl (she didn't think that was one of mom's good ones?), right, that would do. Ugh it was time to get a move on though, who knew when it would start raining again!

Unlike the rest of her rambunctious siblings, Gem was content to stay inside. Wrapped up in a blanket and snuggled into bed to watch the rain from the doorway. Sleeping on and off, she relaxed and enjoyed the warmth of her parents and siblings when they came to take their own naps. As the day dragged on and the sound of rain faded, Gem opened her eyes and peered out toward the bright light. There in the doorway, her sister, Selkie, was beckoning her.

At first, Gem hesitated. A sleepy rumble in her throat as she snuggled deeper into the blankets until Selkie mentioned clay. Oh, clay! That would be fun to play with! Looking to their parents who give an approving nod, Gem slips from her little cocoon and dives off the bed at a full sprint. Stumbling over her paws, she nearly crashes into Selkie before skidding out the door. Letting out a yelp, she turns back to Selkie with a wagging tail and smiling face. "Well, c'mon, let's go find some clay!" She chirps as she dances on her paws and starts walking out into the bright sun that makes her eyes blink way too much.
