There was something about how the north always felt cold that made Delphi happy. Maybe it reminded her of the mountain. Or perhaps it was because it meant she wasn't hot and sweaty. Whatever the reason was, she found herself spending more time here than anything. Even with summer on the horizon, the wind had a cold nip to it that bit at her skin. She braced against it as she traveled back home from visiting the ever-snowy regions of the very north.
Feeling tired and hungry, the small girl stopped to take a break along the crumbling wall. Heidinn was viewable from this distance. The mountain rising high into the air, beckoning her home. Just a few minutes. It was all she needed.
A sudden sound had her hair standing on end. No longer could she take a break as the wind brought a scent toward her. Glancing around, she didn't see the stalking predator until its shadow loomed over her from atop the wall. Turning to look up, she barely had a moment to scramble back as the lion pounced. What the hell was a lion doing all the way up here?! Sharp claws and large teeth aimed her way as she turned tail to run to safety. Unprepared for such a large predator, Delphi had to find a way to get the upper hand before she turned to fight the cat.
The girl was so tiny. So cute. Kaino practiced her tracking a bit, following the spotted wolf just to see what she was up to. There wasn't much more to do on such a day. Patrols had been run, the band was fed. Not one to sit idle, Kai had meandered off to explore. It was good for the girl that she had. The scent of lion, acrid and pungent, hit her nose and Kaino grimaced, flashing teeth for a moment. A moment later, she saw the girl go running. Right on her tail was the big body of the lion that she'd smelled. Ugh. The cat hadn't seen the larger wolf and so Kai used this to her advantage, running up behind the cat and biting into the thick, meaty thigh of its hind leg. She twisted and thrashed, trying to tear the muscle. Maybe she'd give the thing a cramp, at least. Either way, it would afford the girl time to reach safety. "Speech" |
Just as Delphi thought she would be a snack for the ferocious lion, she heard the thunder of someone else's paws. A disgruntled noise from the lion caused her to stop and turn. Watching as the larger wolf attacked the lion, Delphi felt the fear rush from her and replaced with a bout of courage and determination. How could she allow someone to fall for her? Never!
With the lion successfully distracted by the purple woman, Delphi heads straight for the lion's twisted side. As it tried to attack the other wolf, Delphi leaped for the lion's underside. Biting at that thin skin, she felt her fangs hit bones. The loud pained roar from the lion told her that she had definitely hit something. Blood splashed her face as she dove away from the lion and caught her breath. Where would she attack next?
Rather than run, the girl returned and joined the fight. Kaino was pleased. She liked a strong female for sure. As the smaller wolf bit into the cat, it spun, roaring in pain. Kai took the opportunity to inflict some damage in a new spot, sinking her teeth into its heel to pull and thrash. The action made the lion stumble and it fell to the ground, rolling reflexively onto its back and kicking its big paws about. This was a much more dangerous position. It left the lions big legs ready grab the wolves in for a death hug. Kaino grabbed the lions tail in her teeth and jerked, trying to snap it out of its flailing and possibly get it back to its paws. The lion spun, flinging up a cloud of snow as it rolled to its belly and swiped out at her, catching the edge of her muzzle with one claw. Searing pain bit into the lavender and charcoal fae's face. The wound wasn't deep, but it would probably leave a scar on her lip. Bastard cat! "Speech" |
The flurry of snow and lion limbs leaves Delphi pausing. Time to catch her breath, calculate her next move. Watching Kaino work the large feline with a precise expertise leaves Delphi impressed. Had the older woman fought lions before? Either way, Delphi is okay waiting a few more moments until the lion is securely laying down on its belly, swiping its paws at Kaino's face. Now that was a cheap shot!
Dashing back in, Delphi grabs ahold of the paw that struck Kaino's face. Digging her saber fangs down into the tender meat, she hangs on for dear life as the lion thrashes it's paw around as if she were a piece of tape it couldn't remove. Flying through the air, thumping against the snow once or twice, Delphi tries to position herself so her front legs are wrapped around the lion's arm. Yes, if she could just hold steady, she would be enough distraction for Kaino to go in for the kill.
Licking the blood from her split lip, Kaino wrinkled her nose in distaste. Nila was going to be more than a little upset at her for getting into such trouble, but what could she do? You didn't just leave a cat like that out in the world. A mad feline needed to be culled! And cull, she would.
With Delphi doing a damn good job of distracting the cat, Kaino rushed in from the other side. The lavender and charcoal fae ducked low, then rocketed upwards, sliding her jaws around the throat of the lion and squeezing as hard as she could manage. The big feline gave a cough of surprise, its breath squealing as it tried to pull oxygen into its lungs. Kai thrashed her head back and forth, leaving great rends in the tawny coat. Something vital was nicked in the process, for blood began spurting into the woman's mouth at full force. Kai coughed and released her bite. The artery twitched, shooting blood like a squirtgun. Soon the artery wasn't the only thing twitching. The lion collapsed, its lifeblood in a massive puddle around it. Soon, it was still. Kaino and Delphi win the day!
