It was different not being in the bamboo anymore. She missed it fondly. The quiet knocking sounds of the stalks, the lapping of ocean water against the bay. All of those sounds she had grown familiar with were now a distant memory she used to fall asleep at night. Now she had different noises. The coo of mourning doves, the rustle of grass in a warm spring breeze. They were pleasant sounds, but something she had yet to grow accustomed to. Rheum thinks about this. Taking in what the Range has to offer. Corbie had welcomed her and Rexx into her pack and there was much to learn. What animals they kept, how they were kept, where they were kept. The buildings that were scattered about the Range and what all happened in each one. What crafts did everyone specialize in? What would the weather be like? Seasons were different in Boreas. Her internal clock kept trying to tell her it was time for fall, but as she looked about, all she saw were budding blossoms and bright green leaves. Sitting beneath a small lean-to out in one of the fields where she watched a herd of goats graze, Rheum contemplated. She watched too. Noticed how they grazed, where they grazed, if they stayed in a group. It seemed the goats weren't particularly specific about what they ate, but they did prefer to stay together. Interesting nonetheless to a girl who didn't quite have an understanding of herd animals. Rheum Genji-Archer

Álarr stirred from his dreams, peering at the ray of sunlight that filtered in through the sides of the garden shed where he'd made his home in the Orchard. He'd been patrolling late into the night and as expected the morning sun had come to soon. With a sigh he stretched and gathered his pack back heading to the range to check on a few of his stores. Brynhildr, his raven, helped in tying some herbs up in the rafters to dry and she'd opted to sleep there to keep an eye on things.
Álarr was passing one of the lean to's when he spied a colorful young woman. He'd heard there were a few new members to the pack but hadn't had the chance yet to greet them. He shifted his course and called out to the woman. "Morning! If I'm not mistaken you are one of Avalon's new recruits yes? I'm Álarr, one of the pack healers." At least for now. With circumstances being what they were it was clear he needed to shift his focus more to fighting.

Rheum studied as quietly as she could. Even as some of the goats approached her, she stayed where she was. They peered at her curiously before drifting away back to the grass they grazed on. Birds would flit in and out of the lean-to and as she watched them, she noticed them building nests for the eggs they were sure to lay. There was even a cat or two that popped in and out of the hay, glancing at her hesitantly before scampering off back toward the larger barn. Unlike most of who lived in Avalon, Rheum stood out. Her plum and fuschia coat was peculiar compared to the rest. She didn't mind that. She came from a family of brightly colored wolves and was perhaps a reason why hunting wasn't a specialty. Lost in thought, she started slightly at the sound of someone talking. Turning to watch the horned man approach, she dips her head and presents a friendly smile on her lips. "A pleasure Alarr, I am indeed a new recruit. The name is Rheum and I actually was recruited as a healer as well," her smile grows before she shifts over to give him some space to sit beside her beneath the shaded lean-to. "I also enjoy exploring and navigation, but that doesn't come in handy as much as healing does," she tries to joke a bit, but feels awkward. Socializing probably wasn't her strongest suit. "What brings you out this fine morning?" Rheum asks to be both friendly and genuinely curious. Rheum Genji-Archer

Álarr sat down gently as the girl explained that her name was Rheum, a new healer. He grinned. Avalon was certainly growing in terms of active healers. That was a good sign, it meant he could assist in other areas for the pack as time allowed and perhaps some of the newer healers would have better instincts when it came to treating the livestock. "A pleasure to meet you Rheum, welcome to our ranks. If there's anything you'd like to know about the plants and resources in the area feel free to ask. I was just on my way to check the stores in the barn. We often treat patients there and its convenient to have supplies close at hand." Of course, he had his own supplies in his den as well but many of those were either reservers, experiments, or still curing and not ready to be used.

Rheum turns her gaze from Alarr back out to the field as he sits beside her. Unlike that of her home pack, Avalon had much livestock. This had her questioning the landscape that they had chosen to reside in. Was there not enough prey? Was keeping livestock easier? She supposed that if they wanted to use the other resources than just the meat, it would make sense. Maybe Alarr would know! As her ear turned to listen to him, her expression perked up. If he was offering, then she would take it! Though she keeps her gaze on the goats and the sea of grass before them, the rest of her body language dictates that she is listening. "Please, I'd love to know it all. Why does Corbie keep livestock? Is there a reason for certain types of animals? What all are they used for? Knowing the local flora and fauna would be great too. I come from a place of bamboo which is very different than these rolling hills and oak and maple forests. We do have an oak forest, but those trees are ancient and very massive, much different than these younger varieties," she pauses, feeling a bit embarrassed for being so long winded. "I love to learn and listen. Whenever you have time, later on, I'd love a tour of the barn as well," Rheum quiets now as she watches a goat approach. The kid is young, barely old enough to leave its mother's side. It noses at her legs, obvious in how it isn't afraid of wolves. Were they afraid of other predators? Did Avalon had other predators to keep away? Cougars? Bears? Other wolves? Coyotes? Tigers, even? Did they have Tigers in Boreas? The questions rambled through her head as she waits patiently for Alarr to speak. Rheum Genji-Archer
