Atreus was feeling... while not exactly restless, like he was somewhat stagnating with concentrating on patrols when he should be improving his skills. It wasn't exactly a guilty feeling, either, just an acknowledgement to himself that what he was doing wasn't helping himself, and definitely hadn't been helping his family either. After some thought he set out for the training rings on the beach, raising his head to call for his sister as he did. He still hadn't decided on armor and arms for himself that he'd need to don, so it didn't take him long to get there and settled to wait for Tethys. The sun was peeking over the horizon, spilling brilliant color over the waters as it rose. There would easily be light enough to spar on the chilly beach.

Tethys had always been an early riser, and that wasn't changing as she grew older. Getting up just before sunrise had become a habit for her, something she did naturally. It made her feel as though she was really doing something, even if she really wasn't doing much at all, but at least she was awake and prepared rather than sleeping the day away.

Hearing her brother's call was enough to catch her interest. Quickly she made her way to the cove, noting her brother's position and what it seemed to mean. For a moment she wondered if maybe he was disappointed that she hadn't been doing much training, but hoped he'd tell her if so - if anyone knew she had trouble understanding subtlety, it was her siblings, and they'd always been honest with her. "Trying to get your ass kicked, I see?" she asked as she strode up, a faint smile appearing on her lips. It was rare Tethys was playful but she had a lot of love for her siblings, and she didn't mind letting them see it.

Atreus heard pawsteps approaching as he blinked slowly at the rising sun, and he rolled his head to the side lazily to see his sister, as he'd expected. He lifted his lip in a half smile that didn't quite touch his eyes, even for her. "I sure hope you'll try, sister," he rumbled with amusement. "I haven't been keeping up with sparring. I'd hoped you might oblige me? I feel like I need a challenge." While Tethys didn't share his mutations, she was every inch as large as he was and extremely competitive, so he had no doubt she'd do whatever she could to beat him, not just keep up with him, and give him the real challenge he craved.

Stretching, he slowly trotted into a further training ring to give his muscles time to warm up after sitting in the cold, before turning to face her. He rolled his shoulders, then half-grinned at her again, a predator's smile, and gestured for her to come at him.

Though her love for her siblings was unparalleled, she had a competitive streak that even they couldn't deter. Though she would never aim to harm any of them, the thought of besting her brother in a fight was an offer too tempting to refuse. "Mm," she rumbled thoughtfully as she moved closer, settling into a lazy position at first. "I haven't either," she admitted. Hopefully he didn't think that'd give him an advantage though.

He moved into a more defensive position once he stretched out. She followed his lead, giving her limbs a good stretch before jogging in a semi-circle around the edge of the ring. Once Atreus was settled, she wasted little time in moving to strike him. She made no effort to conceal her approach, coming at him head-on and ducking slightly to her left at the last second, parted jaws aiming to strike him on the side of his neck. She doubted he'd make such an attack that easy for her, but she put all her effort into going for the bite anyway.

Tethys moved restlessly, but Atreus kept only part of his attention on her movements while he stretched and readied himself. She didn't waste any time with any fancy feints or testing him once they were both set, either, but drove straight in. Atreus, who fought with a similar straightforward style, could appreciate that. He set himself and then, as she ducked to her left and her teeth slashed into his skin, he shoved hard with his right shoulder, seeking to throw her off balance while she was still moving and potentially send her tumbling. As he did he snapped at the top of her shoulders, not looking to hold a grip that would save her from a fall but just slashing with his fangs.

As a wolf who wasn't great at reading others, she wouldn't pretend she could anticipate their movements or reactions in any way, so she'd fight the only way she knew. As she moved to strike Atreus didn't back down from the collision, instead shoving hard into her attack. She didn't have a chance to stabilize herself before they collided, stumbling slightly though still trying to sink her teeth into him and keep a hold on him.

Of course he wouldn't go down so easily, slashing out at her at the top of her shoulders. Tethys decided to follow his head, trying to push up into his teeth, hoping to disrupt his balance as well. Putting her all into it meant she'd let go of the hold she had on his neck, trying to use her head too to ram into the side of his throat.

Tethys rammed her shoulders into his teeth, jarring him even as he slashed at her. He shifted to regain his balance, so ended up taking her head to his cheek instead. His own blood mingled with hers in his mouth where her shove had split his lip on one of his teeth. He huffed out an appreciative growl of his sister's brawling style - they were much alike, the two of them. Shifting his weight to his hind quarters for balance and to set himself back from her slightly, he slammed one tiger-like paw to her shoulder, claws extended, in an attempt to use the momentum of her headbutt to shove her over past him.
