Kina

Kina was full to the brim with excitement, even after days of travel. When they crossed the sand bridge into Boreas it was amazing how the weather shifted. The heat of the summer bore down on them and it was dry and bright. She and Áskell traveled at a leisurely pace, partly due to her little legs and partly do to Áskell's back bothering him after too much walking. At last though they reached their destination, the Battlefield, where wolves of all walks of like came to duel and fight. Áskell had warned her of some of the dangers and she made note never to come here alone until she was older.

In the mean time they got a fire going. Ari made some tea and the duo rested until Kina felt ready to call for her first opponent. When she did she wandered over to a flat, worn area that had clearly been used before as an area. Tipping back her head she howled for an opponent.

With Mort’s permission, Sirius led Wylan down to the battlefield. It wasn’t far from the Armada, and the winged puppy had energy to spare to zip and zoom about the Warlord. Dashing ahead, and waiting impatiently for the old wolf to catch up. Laughing at his antics, Sirius swiped playfully at one of his raised wings.

“Wait until you're old, and see how you feel” He teased, just as they were arriving at the battlefield's edge. “Alright, you remember the rules as I explained them?” He asked, turning serious eyes to the small pup. Wylan, seeing how serious he was, gave Sirius his full attention. “Yes sir!” He said, and recited them for the older wolf.


"Speech"

Wylan was so excited to be leaving the pack lands, even for a short trip! And to head to the battlefield, and do some battle practice? Even better! His grandfather had told him they would see if there was a suitable opponent for him about. If there wasn’t, his grandfather himself would fight him! They finally reached the battlefield, and his Grandfather put on a serious voice. Knowing he had to show he was paying attention, he stopped before the older wolf, and gave his head a vigorous nod. “Yes Sir!” He agreed. “Stay within your sight at all times. If we find an opponent, fight honourably, and remember it’s a practice lesson!” He said back. Seeing his Grandfather’s approval, he crossed over into the battlefield, just as a young voice called out. Oh! He looked back at Sirius, and the Warlord nodded his head, indicating they should check it out. They made their way across the field - and there was a pup! He did a little happy dance, realising if it was perfect. His Grandfather shooed him forward, and he raced out to meet the other pup. “Hi, I’m Wyaln. I challenge you to a fight to the death!” He heard the Warlord growl somewhere behind him and he let an impish grin float across his face. “Okay, fine. Just a spar, then?” He asked the white wolf. "Speech"

Kina

Kina stretched lightly as she waited, enjoying the wafting sent of mint from peppermint tea Áskell was brewing back at the camp site. Her ears perked up as a boy and who she imagined was his guardian approached. She was quite surprised by the sight of his wings even though many of her family had strange and odd mutations. The boy introduced himself as Wylan and then immediately challenged her to a fight to the death. Kina gazed skeptically at the boy, a brow quirking as she looked to the older male who growled. Ah, yes, she figured he had to be joking.

She smiled politely. "A spar would be great! My name is Hattori Kina." She bowed in the customary greeting of Tojo Kai before setting her defenses. Her ears pinned to her head, tail tucked, one by one her defenses falling into place. She steadied herself and then when her opponent looked ready she charged. Fascinated by his wings she attempted to dip to her left, jaws flung wide as she tried to bite his right wing where it connected to his shoulder. Were these real? Was he feathery?

Wylan’s grin only grew brighter. “Nice to meet you, Hattori!” he said, unaccustomed to the use of a last name first. He was facing the wrong way to see the sudden widening of his grandfather's eyes in response to her name. Instead, he tried to find some seriousness for the ‘battle’ ahead. He set his stances as he had been taught. Spreading his legs, digging his toes into the ground. His claws extended and bit into the hard earth, and his ears folded backwards. His wings he puffed out on either side of him. Both for defence, and to make it harder to see parts of his body. The moment he had finished, Kina dashed at him. She went straight for the connecting joint of his wing, and he attempted to slap the edge of his wing down on her head. At the same time, he snaked his head around and tried to bite at her side. Kina

Kina saw the wing move down for her head and she quickly bunched her hind legs below her as she leaped up to keep the wing, jaws up trying to catch the feathers while her front legs tried to wrap around the base of the wing where the joint connected to the body. She was too fascinated to focus on another target, wanting to chew on the feathers and see if wolf feathers tasted any different from bird feathers. She didn't even know wolves could have feathers! Though it made sense, she had siblings with scales after all. From the corner of her eye she saw his head aiming for her and that only spurred her leap up for his wings, hoping she could bounce her side out of way of his fangs.
