Marrow
After a string of bad luck Marrow found herself in a vast plain with grasses so tall they could conceal her completely. Maybe she would have better luck hunting here. She'd gone 3 days without eating and her stomach grumbled and gurgled. It felt like there was an empty rock settled there and it was starting to hurt. She lifted her head, searching for any whiff of possible prey. Most of what she caught were the scents of elk and bison, far to large for her.
She weaved her way through the grass until the scent of blood caught her attention. A wounded pronghorn antelope… no, a dead pronghorn antelope. The scent of blood grew thicker and thicker the closer she got until she saw a young male lion feasting on his catch. Marrow's stomach ached and it drove her forward. She didn't intend to drive the lion off necessarily, instead she snuck close, seeking to grab a few scraps. While the lion busied itself in the guts, Marrow reached out to snag some flesh from the neck. No sooner than she ripped in the lion roared and swatted at her. She scrambled back but instead the lion gave chase. Well shit!

Marrow
Marrow bolted away from the lion but could tell it was gaining on her. She didn't look back, instead she put her head down and ran for all she was worth. Before she'd gotten far she heard the lion roar in pain and she risked looking back to see an unfamiliar man attacking its side. Instinct told her to take the chance and run but there was a bit of anger bubbling in her stomach. There'd been plenty of food. She only needed a few bites. Why wouldn't the lion share? Just like her family, the greedy bastard. With a snarl she turned and charged. The lion was focused on the man so she took the opportunity to charge at it, slamming her chest into the outside of its arm while her claws dug into back and chest, teeth finding purchase where the mane ended.

Marrow
Marrow relished her purchase for only a moment before the lion's fangs found her scruff and in an instant her white fur was stained red with her own blood. She gasped at the pain of those large fangs. In a moment the creature had thrown her and she hit the ground with an 'oof'. Yowch! What a nasty beast! Marrow got to her feet, seeing the strange man continue his attack. The lion curved around to get him and Marrow charged once more, ready to give the lion one last good incentive to leave. Her fangs latched into its hind end, causing it to jump forward in surprise before whirling around to try and strike her. This time she was ready, backing up before its claws could find her face.
