Summer was coming to an end and soon enough they'd be relegated back to the borders of Avalon. For now though, while the weather was nice, Álarr had agreed to take Stjarna on a trip to a place called the battlefield. Apparently this was a place where wolves often went to spar and fight, though he warned her that not everyone was nice. That made her a little bit nervous but she tried to calm herself by reminding herself that Álarr was nearby and could jump in if needed. She ambled into a clearing and looked back at the older man who nodded encouragingly. Star tipped back her head and howled for an opponent.

Rexx had been meaning to test out his skills for a while -- why not venture out into this place for a suitable opponent? The brute made his way to the arid clearing, dry cracked earth crunching beneath his paws as he scanned the various fighting rings. Seemed like those who were there were occupied..and then a call grabbed his attention. Ears perked, Rexx moved closer and closer only to find that the wolf who called was a child? "A kid?" Rexx said, though not incredulously, just..curious. Brow knitted, he then noticed the adult that was hovering nearby, watching him closely. Ah. So that guy was letting her duel with other wolves? Seemed a tad irresponsible - why not let her fight others her own age? But beggars couldn't be choosers, and Rexx would just have to adjust his fight style accordingly. "Alright then. Why don't you make the first move?" Rexx inquired, offering a soft smile. He adjusted his fight stance to ensure his legs were well balanced, head lowered to protect his chest. Stjarna gazed curiously at the man that answered her call for a fight. He was an adult with tusks and unique crystals going all the way down his back. "Wow, you're so sparkly!" She said before she could stopped herself. She'd never seen a wolf with crystals growing on them before. He gave her the first move and she nodded before setting her defenses. Her fur and her hackles stood on end as she pinned her ears and tail.

Star bounded forward straight toward the man at first before trying to slip to her left and pivot her front half so it was facing in toward his right wrist which she then tried to bite. Still figuring out attacks she hadn't quite learned how to use her jaws and claws at the same time.

Rexx couldn't help but smile a bit at the girl's observation -- yes, he was quite sparkly, wasn't he? She seemed to be a tough one, ready to stand on her own despite her size and age. He could appreciate her willingness to get out there quickly and practice her fighting skills - he had that same drive at her age, himself. He allowed her the first move, and not wanting to dodge so quickly, the man adjusted his stance to be well-balanced, toes splaying into the hot earth. He watched as she bounded towards him, pivoting just below his line of sight. Prickles of her razor-like puppy teeth grazed his wrist, and he let her grab at his paw just enough to graze it before he lifted it quickly out of the way. Let her feel her victory as her move hit, but not much else. He iddn't want to make it that easy for her. Rexx aimed to put that paw back on the ground and while she was still facing his right side, aimed to use the dull side of his tusk to bowl her over. Not harshly, but seeing as she was smaller, it would be more of a firm nudge. Let her figure out how to regain her balance after losing it, if she did fall for his move, that is. Stjarna's little fangs grazed the man's wrist before it was yanked up out of her reach. Still she'd been close, she hit her mark! She had no idea the man was going easy on her and simply thought she was starting to get good at this sparring thing. Before she could get herself away and on to her next attack the man bent down with his head and with a swift move knocked his tusk into her side. The force knocked her over onto her side but she swiftly went with the momentum, her back twisting to roll herself over onto her feet. It wasn't the first time she'd been knocked over. Come to think of it that seemed to happen a lot but she was not deterred. With a determined gaze she bounded toward the man's side again, this time seeking to nip at his knee, her front paws lifting from the ground as she tried to wrap her arms around his lower leg.

She was clever, certainly -- she'd barely had pause before recovering from her fall, rolling before striking up back on her feet. Rexx was impressed; a lot of pups were used to getting pushed around by siblings and the like - he knew he did - but often when faced with a strange opponent, it was typically harder for them to contend with a less familiar fight style. Still, she was a smart girl, diving into his blind spot to wrap her forelegs around his knee and giving it a nip. Well, that wouldn't do. With a playful smirk, Rexx aimed to suddenly lift his lower leg upwards so that she might get thrown off. In another fluid motion, Rexx aimed to pivot his hind end away from the girl, and aimed to gently but firmly grab for her scruff with his jaws.
