Kaino had spotted the injured liger earlier in the day and it was too good an opportunity to pass up. The beast had snapped a leg and was wobbling out into the desert to die. Confident that it wouldn't go far, she'd collected her sweet cousin, Caedes, and pulled him along with her. He was big and she enjoyed his company, so they could do this together.

The big cat was pale in color, its coat faintly marbled in caramel stripes. A small mane settled around its neck. They were doing it a favor by killing it, really. Besides... Kaino was a whore for fancy furs and she wanted this one real bad. REAL BAD. "Keep up if you can," Kai gave Caedes' cheek a peck and darted off across the sands. The giant feline saw her and turned, backing itself into a little divot in the path. Its hind leg was lifted, wobbling in the air with the clear break. Poor cat. Good for Kaino though. With a snap and a snarl, she began hemming the feline in, each movement calculated to herd the beast just where she wanted it to be.

"Speech"

Caedes watched as Kaino darted ahead with a mixture of affection and amusement. Her boldness was undeniable, the determination to secure the fur of the injured liger driving her forward with delightful purpose. Though he had little interest in the spoils of the hunt, he couldn't deny the allure of the chase, the thrill of the hunt at the behest of his kin – impossible to ignore.

He followed Kaino across the sands, his massive form moving with deceptive grace. The liger stood defiantly against them, its hind leg lifted in a clear sign of distress. Caedes felt no sentimentality, no empathy nor sympathy. Survival was a brutal game, and they were all players in it.

He joined Kaino in herding the liger, his movements calculated as he helped to corner the beast in its makeshift sanctuary – or final resting place. Either worked.  And as they closed in, Caedes surged forward, charging in to bite at its shoulder – taking advantage of its lack of balance as it fought to swipe at him in return. But the brute was quick on his feet, almost playfully dodging it’s lackluster attempt to harm him and defend itself.

It worked the same as always. Caedes was the larger, more impressive target, so the predators always focused on him. That left time for Kai to do her work. The fae ran in, snapping her jaws around the dangling hind leg and pulling hard. The feline roared in pain and dropped to its side, kicking and lashing out at the woman, claws unsheathed. Kaino dodged the flailing, but she'd done just what she wanted. With the cat prone, she dug her teeth into the back of one thick leg, flinging her head from side to side to rip and tear, hopefully creating an opening that Caedes could take to end the life of the weakened cat.

"Speech"

It was a familiar scenario – the predators took to him first, drawn by his size and imposing presence. And as they did, it afforded Kai the opportunity to strike and capitalize on their folly.

Caedes watched with satisfaction as Kaino darted in with lightning speed, her movements fluid. She targeted the feline's hind leg, the injured one, her jaws clamping down as the feline roared in agony and thrashed against her pull. As the cat dropped to its side, Caedes moved in without hesitation, lunging forward, his jaws snapping shut around the vulnerable flesh of the feline's neck.

But instead of the quick kill, he dragged it, musculature brimming just below the surface of his scarred hide. He choked it, its body weakening into feeble scrabbles and wheezes.

The pair worked together just as effortlessly as they had done their entire lives. Growing up together formed a bond and a familiarity unlike anything else and the two Saxe wolves were proof of that. Kai got the cat to its side and Caedes rushed in to cut off its air supply. With the feline now struggling and panicking, Kaino leaped atop its body, jaws wrapping around one striped leg so that she could keep the exposed claws from sinking into Caedes while he worked.

In time, the injured cat weakened, giving up on life at last and falling dead. Kai released her hold and sat perched on the feline's ribcage. A smile crossed her bloodied lips and her bobbed tail swished back and forth with happiness. "This is going to be the best addition to my collection that I've had in a long time." Yep. A whore for furs.

Caedes stood transfixed, a pang of nostalgia sweeping over him as he watched Kaino effortlessly execute their well-honed teamwork. Their movements flowed in perfect harmony, a deadly symphony orchestrated by years of shared experiences. It was the natural rhythm of two predators in pursuit of their prey. Ah, he missed this. Growing up together had forged this connection, this understanding of each other's every move. As Kaino leapt onto the creature's back, deftly evading its slashing claws, Caedes wasted no time. With practiced precision, he closed in for the final strike. Swift, calculated motion, Caedes deprived the feline of its precious air, muscles tensed with lethal intent. The struggle was brief but intense, ending in the death of their prey.

As the threat lay dead, Kaino released her grip and settled atop the corpse, a triumphant smile playing on her blood-streaked lips. Caedes regarded her with a mixture of admiration and amusement, knowing it was her satisfaction at the spoils of their hunt. "Consider it a token of my appreciation for your discerning tastes," Caedes remarked, his tone composed and sly. "You're most welcome." His words carried a hint of playful banter, ensuring Kaino understood the gift was given in jest, and with genuine consideration.
