He Never Came Back

As Cadaver traversed the area, his gaze rested upon the towering slate grey rock faces that dominated the horizon. The jagged edges and sheer height of the cliffs evoked a sense of awe and trepidation within him. He treaded lightly- or as much as his clumsy legs could offer, his steps hesitant yet filled with curiosity as he took in the desolate yet alluring splendor of the surroundings. Any path he could find was seemingly treacherous as it twisted up the mountain, a clear indication of the daunting obstacles and risks that lay ahead. Reaching the summit of the falls had been no easy feat, Though it had loomed in the distance, easily seen from afar- a striking display of raw power. He was drawn to it.
The water crashing down from the northern mountains was frigid, but it carried a pristine and crystalline quality that was untouched. The cold spray clung to his coat- the chilling humidity hanging thick in the air. Though he reveled in the sensation, closing his eyes momentarily to bask in the electric sensation that charged the air. It was invigorating.

Born to mountains, to stark landscapes, to cold days-- Björn likes days like this, perhaps best of all. Days that were made for him, and him alone. The world was his, and he was going to explore. He was going to grab shit by the horns, or whatever he was supposed to be thinking. Brilliant about it, really. All things brilliant, and Björn was among them. Among them, too, was the waterfall. It called to him, in his explorations. In his travels. One of his father's dogs trotting behind him at a distance, but at least Björn would take the space and explore out. Brilliant, icy gaze on the peak as it rose before him, high into the grey sky. A rush of water down from great heights, and a noise that took up all the space it was allowed. Björn can't help himself, curiously coming closer. Climbing isn't anything new for Björn, either. Hauling himself from boulder to boulder, testing for a rock and a roll with a paw before shifting his weight. Though he's a dense creature, he's used to moving his body in such a way. Accustomed to it, and to the way the air gets thin up here. He's not the only one up here though. Björn's gaze lands on the other boy, his ears flickering for a moment. "What're you doing up here?" It's curious, more than accusatory. Studying the boy openly, a tip of his antlered head. Studying, tense as he is. BJÖRN Ragnarök awaits. |

Cadaver's ears twitched at the sound of a voice, his head slowly swiveling around to meet the gaze of another. He sized up the stranger and his companion, his blue and pink eyes narrowing slightly. He was intruding on his solitude, an interruption to his private revelry with the waterfall. Still, Cadaver arched his neck, broadening his shoulders and standing taller, inflating his presence to match the size of his ego. "Just taking in the view," he responded gruffly, not taking his eyes off Björn. The other wolf was not all that different from him - around the same size and same age. Hardened by the harsher parts of nature, just like him. But Cadaver noted a few subtle differences in Björn, the most striking being the antlers that crowned his head. A peculiar sight indeed. Was he a threat? Cadaver wasn't certain, but he wasn't about to be bested by a fellow pup, especially one who trespassed upon his domain - - however temporary it may be.
Cadaver's tail flicked behind him, brushing against the mossy rocks beneath him. His eyes narrowed further as he maintained eye contact with Björn, refusing to show any sign of weakness or trepedation. "You lost?" he asked, his voice barely above a low growl. The waterfall's thunderous roar otherwise filling the silence between them.
