Redrum snarled as his teeth sank into Balian's flank, tasting the metallic tang of blood as his target recoiled in pain. It only fueled his ferocity. Feeling a surge of adrenaline, he dug his claws into Balian's hide, refusing to let go even as the horse reared and kicked with all its might.

The moment Balian surged forward, Redrum attempted to cling to him like a leech. His muscles strained against the force, his grip tightened as he rode the wave of momentum. All the while golden eyes gleamed in defiance as he braced himself, keeping his vermillion body tucked and latched onto the horse. There wasn’t really a plan to be had here, he was just trying to see how far he could go!

The vermillion boy had just concluded his own skirmish, his golden gaze lifting to take in the scene around him. His brother had fallen. Eraithus had fallen. His mother too. As the boy witnessed the defeat of his mother at the hands of the Avalon alpha out of the corner of his eye, that woman adorned in a coat of white ash and charcoal, he saw red. In an instant, the boy surged to the scene – charging forward, his gleaming fangs illuminated by the surrounding light as he emitted a primal snarl. His large stature, now surpassing that of his mother's now, launched at the woman with lightning speed with a resolve far beyond his tender years. His aim was simple: to seize hold of the woman's shoulder or scruff, his claws outstretched in an attempt to draw her nearer within his grasp.

Álarr took his time getting ready and heading to the raid. He had been informed that Insomnia planned a practice raid on Avalon at some point in the season and when he heard Medusa's call he could only assume this was it. With his armor in place he headed out and slunk across the range to the source of the fights. He was there primarily to observe and to assist if need be but this was a chance for the young members of both packs to get battle experience. He would only fight if someone attacked him first. As he didn't care for that to become a reality he settled down in the tall grass, only his horns and the top of his head visible as he watched the going ons.

Welp, that was a piss poor fight, she had to admit that! She had put herself in too far of a compromised situation, and Umbra shoving on her definitely didn't help anything! She had been far too focused on those darn sheep that she forgot how good of a fighter Corbie was. Not that she had fought her before, but she had seen her in action and it was solidified now that she shouldn't be underestimated. With all the pushing, pulling, and leg flailing, Medusa fell. But not before Corbie was dragged out from under her and not before Umbra was pushed away and definitely not before Corbie's kinkajou managed to leap onto the back of her neck and started yanking on her ears. "Eep!" She shook her head as she hit the ground, and in all the cartoon style falling and flailing, Medusa knew she had lost. There was no recovering from this! Was she embarrassed? Nah. She didn't know what embarrassment was. She would, however, take it as a learning opportunity! She remained on the ground for a minute as she caught her breath before abruptly sitting upright and grinning at Corbie. "Corbie wins!" She exclaimed, then realization struck her and her ears fell to the side in major disappointment. ....no sheep for Medusa..." If she had thumbs, she would've snapped her fingers in swiper no swiping style. She briefly looked around to see what all else was going on, and she spotted Ripper and Eraithus not quite making the cut. Veigar taking on an opponent, and ooh! Red had beat the horse and was now...coming after Corbie. Her son, of course, being a product of her own, came flying in with all the feral ferocity she had been born with herself. Oops! She probably shoulda mentioned to have a little fun with this, but oh well! She was sure Corbie would be fine...right? -exit to sit on the sidelines- "Speech"

Corbie was just regaining her balance, still laughing softly at Medusa's silliness about the sheep, when Ren suddenly shouldered her out of the way and a big red Insomnia kid slammed into the livestock guardian dog, teeth fastening into the dog's scruff instead of Corbie's. Corbie staggered to find her footing and turned on the young wolf, but hesitated. She wasn't sure she could really bring herself to attack a kid, especially when it was only meant as a practice and she wasn't really defending herself against him. It wouldn't do anyone any good to forfeit either though, so she instead threw her slighter weight low against the side of his foreleg, hoping to just knock his leg out from under him and stagger him.

A flash of fur, Teeth met flesh. Redrum had latched onto something, but it wasn’t the Avalon Alpha he had aimed for. The woman’s pet had taken her place, and the boy snarled past his teeth, tail lashing as he tried to push the dog away and release it at the same time. But as he was trying to do so the smaller weight of the woman was thrown against one of his forelegs, the act causing the boy to stagger and hunker down, taking his weight low in an effort to lash out at the woman with a quick snap of his jaws. All the while the boy’s golden eyes gleamed with unseeing resolve to succeed. He had to. He had to because his mother was watching. He didn’t want her to see him fail.

Merlin soundly beats the skeletal marked boy named Ripper and, while it is a win, the boy’s world is lift tilting nauseatingly. They had cracked their skulls together, more like goats than wolves and it takes him several minutes to get the world reoriented before he can move. Once the doubles finally merge back into signal wolves, the dappled boy spies a man lingering on the fringes of the fighting and heads toward him.

With measured steps he approaches the man, noticing the way his gaze doesn’t really seem to focus on anything and how his head is bowed with his ears perked. These pieces of a puzzle alert Merlin to a possible handicap and, because he wishes for a fair fight, the boy gives an alerting ‘woof’ to let his opponent know that he was coming. However, other than that, he will be given the no special consideration… this is a raid after all.

Steps quicken as he charges toward his new opponent, a deep growl rumbling from his deep in his chest as Merlin enters the male’s personal space. A foreleg shoots out, seeking to try and wrap around the man’s ankle in the hopes of tripping them up while, at the same time, his teeth seek to try and find purchase on the side of his neck, not to injure, but to grip and hold.

The boy stumbled when she threw her weight against him, and Corbie went to bounce back away from him, to put some distance between them and get out of his reach, but she felt the sudden shock of teeth meeting in the muscle of her back, partway down, as he lashed out and brought her to a halt. Gasping against the fiery pain she reared and twisted her upper body towards him, bringing her forehead down as hard as she could towards the bridge of his nose. She didn't want to hurt him, he was still so young, but a good hard rap to his nose shouldn't do any lasting damage.

The fights begin to break out around him, the noises intensifying. He waits, head low to the ground and his posture beginning to stiffen. Then all at once he hears a bark directed his way and he reacts, trying to orient himself toward the sound. His ears swivel as he attempts to bring himself in line with Merlin as he charges him. He isn't able to shy away from the attack entirely, Merlin's bite landing on the side of his neck. Veigar reacts quickly and frantically, thrashing his head around in an attempt to remove the other wolf's hold, seemingly uncaring to the damage it might cause in the process. While he flails, he tries to swing his head around and aim a series of rapid bites hopefully near Merlin's forelimbs. It becomes more apparent, as he approaches the stranger, that his opponent is blind, and Merlin feels a sudden pang of uncertainty. But he continues in, teeth grabbing ahold of the side of the man’s neck. As his bite lands, the man suddenly and frantically thrashes his head around and the boy’s eyes widen as he quickly releases his hold because he does not want to injure him horribly. This is just a practice raid, after all.

Everything about the brown and cream man speaks of a wild desire to be present and fight without a thought of his handicap. The man is relentless as he bites out at the boy’s forelegs in rapid succession, landing hit after hit and it forces Merlin to back away slightly so he can regroup. With a low growl, he lunges back in, seeking to try and grab ahold of the man’s neck again while, at the same time attempting to wrap a leg around the man’s ankle in the hopes of pulling him off balance. Maybe he can even pull off a pin or something!

INSOMNIA has no more wolves left to fight and has lost the raid.

Aaaawwwww! Drat! "No sheep for...Medusa...?" She whined to herself, lip trembling and wide 'ole puppy dog eyes gazing off into the distance where she could hear the sheep being held. The efforts of her wolves had been good, but Avalon had proven to be better, and had protected their livestock from the wayward wolves of Insomnia. Even though the two packs matched numbers, Medusa's wolves probably weren't quite ready. Though she had to admit, Red fought very well and she couldn't be prouder of him than she already was! Maybe she'd bring him back in a couple days to introduce him to Corbie as Insomnia's newest heir! For now though, Medusa pouted for a moment and stomped her feet once or twice before getting up and calling for her members. It was time to go back home! She shot Corbie a smile, waving her tail in goodbye fashion. "Medusa will be back! She wants a sheepy!" She called as she bounded back home. They may not have won this time, but she was determined for next time! -exit- "Speech"
