Marrow
Marrow settled in amongst the fall grasses, the lanky woman at her side. The duo had met and agreed to go hunting together and her original plan had been to try for one of the deer or antelope but as she scouted she found herself a moose. It was way to far south and seemed to be a bit disoriented. Marrow had a hard time resisting an ill animal and she wouldn't help but wonder if the pair of them could take it. For now they settled down and watched it, trying to come up with a plan that wouldn't leave one of them severely injured or dead. It was a bull moose, the antlers still proudly displayed atop its head.

Come down, come down sweet reverence
Jynn settled in next to Marrow to watch the moose. She was still apprehensive about trying to take on such large prey by themselves. It would be better to get a third wolf involved at least. Maybe if they were lucky the moose would suddenly just drop dead. She watched awhile, ears twitching but while the moose was clearly ill it didn't show signs of just keeling over any time soon. Rats! "If we can just get it running maybe we can get it to stumble. Chase it across the prairie dog colony." She whispered. The main trick was going to be getting the bull to run and not try to gore them.

Stjarna wondered along the border of the Range and the Knolls. She was bored and eager to do something more interesting than just wander around looking for milk weed down like Álarr had requested. She wasn't even sure if it was useful or if he was just sending her on a fool's errand. She spied a good stand of milk weed deeper in the knolls but as she went to get it she was surprised to catch the scent of one of the wolves she had hunted with before. Curious, she followed the scent and came upon a trio of hunters. Clearing her throat she pulled up along side Coran. "Hey, can I help to?" Star glanced down at the big creature they were looking at. It was like a bison but tall, lanky and stretched out weird with huge antlers.

Marrow
Marrow's head whipped around at the cough but she immediately relaxed when she realized it was Coran. She'd hunted with the man a few times now and nodded. Now they were getting a real hunting party going. Her ears twitched at the sound of rustling in the grass and she looked up as she spied the familiar, colorful girl she'd hunted with as well. Oh this would be fun! She grinned and nodded. "Sure, the more the merrier. I'm not big on fancy plans. I say let's all rush it, try and get it to run and stumble. If we approach from its left side we can maybe drive it across the prairie dog colony." Day by day Marrow was growing more confident in her hunting abilities but even so she wasn't the most strategic of hunters. Her stomach rumbled with hunger and she swiftly stalked forward, getting as close as she dared before bursting forward with a snarl toward their prey.

Jynn grinned as she spied Coran approach soon followed by another girl that she recognized. Yes! Now this was a real hunting party. The prospect of a fresh, hot meal had her salivating. She listened as the yearling laid out a simple plan. Worked enough for her. Jynn was a spontaneous sort and didn't care much for overthinking and over planning when it came to well, everything. She crouched down low and as Marrow sprang forward she joined suit. Jynn let out a roar bark, diving and snapping for the legs of the moose. It immediately turned, horns sweeping down low to try and bowl her over but Jynn bounced away just in time, circling back and snapping once again at the moose.

Stjarna gave a grateful smile to the group as she was invited into the hunting party. She settled down to listen, nodding at the straightforward plan. Star was too young to have much of a mind for strategy yet so just chasing down their prey to try and get it to stumble so they could take it down sounded good to her. That was roughly how they hunted bison.
Star stalked forward with the rest of the group and when the pale yearling sprang forward Star was quick to join. Well, as quick as she could be. The older wolves ran faster than her but soon she was getting close to catching up. Star shifted her position so that she was a little off to the side and could help to drive the moose toward the prairie dog holes. They'd have to be careful. They wanted the moose to stumble, not themselves!

Marrow
Marrow loved the rush of the chase, she could hear the blood in her ears but to her mind it was like she could hear the pumping of her prey's heart. Stride by stride she was getting closer, the other wolves joining in. Jynn managed to avoid the horns and soon they had the moose running. It ran awkwardly, stumbling as it went. Marrow ran along its side, twisting her head and snapping at it to herd it where she wanted. Ahead of them prairie dogs ducked and scattered. The moose continued on until one of its front legs landed in a prairie dog hole, sending the moose pitching forward. Marrow leapt onto the moose's back, her fangs sinking into the back of its neck, claws helping her hold on. The moose thrashed trying to get back to its feet.

Jynn recovered quickly after dodging the antlers. She twisted around and rejoined the running party. Swift and graceful, it took her only moments to catch back up. This time she focused on chasing. Being of lighter build it was to risky for her to try what Coran was doing and just grabbing onto a leg. Thankfully she didn't have to wait long. The moose was tiring and suddenly it stumbled, lurching forward and down onto the ground. Marrow leapt onto its back. Jynn seized the other front leg in her jaws, pushing forward with her chest to pull the limb out from under the moose to prevent it from getting back up. They were so close, someone just needed to make the kill shot.

Stjarna took great gulps of air as she raced along after the adults. She kept out of the way for the most part, not risking getting to close but when the moose went down she sprang into action. Stjarna latched onto the outside of one of the hind legs, her fangs digging into its back, claws latching on tight as she hugged the creature's thigh. Her hope was that if he did some how get back to his feet that her positioning would make it too difficult for the moose to kick her. Once the moose finally stopped struggling she let go and took a step back. Whoa, this thing was huge!
