Astraios had been given the challenge of improving his hunting skills. He spent some time out of the pack lands tracking down prey, and learning a little more about the scents and trails around him. When he caught a very strange scent, he decided to take a plunge and track it down.

He followed it to the knolls, and there in the distance he could see a giant leathery shape. The sort of creature that would prove his ability to take down prey without a doubt. Taking it down alone was going to be borderline impossible, so he raised his head and howled. Inviting any hungry wolves along to the hunt.

"Speech"

Flare wasn’t far from the knolls, and the howl that sung out reached his ears. He tilted his head and listened for a moment. A smirk touching his lips. It was true, it did sound like a challenge. And the idea of bringing back a tusk to play with sounded rather fun.

He trotted along to the knolls, and found the white wolf that had started this. He nodded his head towards them. He didn’t take orders well, but this was the boy's scene. He’d let it play out for as long as it suited him. “Count me in” he said quietly, and took a vantage point near the white wolf where he could see the elephant.

Bellatrix Ravenwood

She wasn't familiar with the prey of Boreas, nor the areas. Though she was doing her best to make it more familiar, after all she was going to lead Norad. She would need to know the places and of course the wolves of those places.

A howl rang out for a hunt so Trixy was all in. She made sure to have frank tuck himself somewhere he would be safe before she headed in its direction. And upon arriving she took in the faves of those gathered and smiled. She recognized one of them from the raid on Norad a while back but held no ilk for him. In fact it was all water under the bridge as far as she was concerned. She took in the sight beyond them as she stopped next to them both. Her vest and dagger were easily on and ready to help with this beast. "Wow. Its massive, whats gonna be our game plan?" she kept her voice hushed to avoid spooking the thing or alerting it if possible. Though she turned her eyes to the other two there. She was happy to work with anyone.

The mild autumn day finds Unagi stretched out on her side down in the Steppes as she spends her time sunbathing. A happy sigh passes her lips as she stretches, the warmth a welcomed change from the frigid temps up on the mountain. When Astraios howls, summon those who wish to hunt, the yearling almost lets the opportunity slip by in favor of a nap in the sun. But the girl is an avid hunter and is always seeking to improve her skills so she leisurely gets to paws and lopes out to where the boy waits.

As she grows closer, Unagi spies a huge, leathery animal with big ears and a long trunk and the girl cannot stop the small gasp of amazement at the sight. Mismatched eyes move to the taller boy, who has been joined by two strangers, as she pulls to a stop near him and she softly asks, “Ya got a plan?” The hide looks tough and it seems like it will take a lot of wolves to take the creature down. Gaze roams over to the colorful strangers and she offers, “I’m Unagi.” Dipping her head in greeting, the girl then returns her attention to the leader of this little hunt and waits to hear what they will do.


"Hattori-Klein Unagi"

Malico and Mariah have returned to their home Elysium and, while the young man is happy to be home, he still wishes to go out and hunt. Luckily, as he is out roaming the nearby lands, a call for hunters reaches his ears and the young man is quick to answer it. Meeting up with the group, he dips his head in greeting while looking out to the giant they will be hunting and breathes a soft grunt of approval.

Looking to the yearling who seems to be taking point on this, he says, “That hide is tough. How do you plan to break it?” While a large group can attack the beast, it will take a lot of brute strength to break the elephants hide and bring it down. Not that Malico isn’t willing to put in the work, he just wants the boy to know that this will be a difficult but rewarding hunt.


"Malico Mendacium"

He'd gone out to explore, the near yearling full of pent up energy and he simply needed to get it all out! How? He had no clue. Everyone was busy, not home, or doing other things so he set off by himself toward Avalon because...well...his mom said they had other kids close to his age he could probably play with! Problem was, he couldn't remember how to get there! Medusa had shown him the way once but it hadn't stuck with the boy so he ended up going the wrong way and now here he was. With a big, heavy sigh as he was sure he was still going the right way, he heard the sound of something he had never heard before! His head jerked up, ears on a swivel as he heard that trumpeting sound again! What was that!? He couldn't see anything, so he quickly raced up a knoll and nearly crashed into a group of wolves looking down into the valley below. He skid to a stop, talons tearing up the ground as they brought him to a complete stop and to keep him from crashing into some purple guy. "What's everyone looking at!?" He questioned before he spotted a big, naked beast down below. "Whoaa! Ripper has never seen that before!?" "Ripper||"Menace"

An interesting mix of wolves appeared in answer to his call. He nodded his head at the red wolf, the two purple ones, and the ones that gave him their names. Unagi and Ripper. He grinned at the last “Me either” he agreed, but that wasn’t going to stop him. A couple of the wolves asked if he had a plan, and he pointed his head to a dizzying drop to the right of the leathery creature.

“I figure if we can herd it off the edge, the drop will do most of the work for us. But leading it there isn’t going to be easy. We’ll need to keep it too busy to realise what's coming. You guys all in?” He asked

"Speech"

“It’s called an Elephant” Flare said, having seen them in his extensive travels. He’d only hunted them once before - and it was true that their hide was incredibly tough. His fangs were longer than most, and able to do some serious damage.

“Rhino horns over there will have the best reach, and shark teeth--” he nodded his head to Bellatrix Ripper “Could probably do some damage. What if the three of us tag team the sides to get him going the right way, and the rest of you harry him from behind to keep him moving?” he suggested


"Speech"

Unagi eyes the others that join them, nodding to the purple man and pup, whose name is apparently Ripper, join the slowly growing group. Mismatched eyes snap to the boy she knows, remembering the trap that they had once made together. The cliff seems like a good option and the heavy girl nods at first the boy and then the slightly older man as they form the plan.

Eyes track out over to where the elephant waits and she says, “I’ll start on the right side. We can switch out as needed to keep the elephant going in the correct direction.” Looking back to Astraios, she lifts a brow, silently questioning if this is an acceptable plan. Once they are set and ready, Unagi hunkers down, ready to stalk closer for the moment that they will strike.


"Hattori-Klein Unagi"

Malico calmly watches the group, simply raising his brows as a big pup joins them. The leader of this little impromptu hunt talks about driving the creature off a cliff and the young man nods before turning his attention to the fire marked man as he speaks. Another nod is given at the addition to the original plan and he offers, “I will take the left but stay closer to the rear. My claws can help keep the beast moving.”

Lifting one of his feline-like paws, Mal flexes his toes to display the obsidian daggers that lay hidden inside. With his gift shown, the paw falls back to the earth as he waits for the others to decide what they are doing before they group settles into the tall grass to stalk closer to the prey. Excitement zips along his nerves as he waits for the real chase to begin.


"Malico Mendacium"

Bellatrix Ravenwood

As others filled in she dipped her head to each and filed away the names from those willing to give them. "Bellatrix Ravenwood." she was quiet with giving her name for the same reason as before. With ears that big that thing, an elephant as the fiery one called it, had to have super hearing. Beauregard was going to have a cow if he learned she had helped hunt one of these things.

As they started laying out plans and such Trixy gave a nod before thinking. "I dont think me head butting it is such a good idea but I have a dagger. Should do the trick." she dipped her head in the way they were splitting up into teams and moved to be closer to the skeleton marked kid identified as Ripper. Seemed they would be on the same small team. She gave him a friendly smile as she did so.

"So we stay in small teams and push it off the edge. Harry it from both sides, me and ripper here start it so we can get it running cuz we will have the most damaging things for its thick hide. Am I missing anything?" she looked to the others hoping she understood everything right.

His gaze shifted from one speaker to the next in turn as each had something to say. An elephant, eh? What fun! He wondered if his mother had ever hunted one before! Looking back at the big beast in the near distance, he spotted the long tusk peeking out of its face and he was even more eager to get started. "Ripper wants the tusks!!" He exclaimed. Of course, he wanted to know what elephant tasted like, but he was far more interested in the tusks! He'd fight anyone that denied him the prize he wanted most! He listened (im)patiently as each laid out a sort of plan, casting a final glance at the colorful girl as he "pffted" her. "You're no fun! Stabby stab it with your face! Like this!" With that, he went racing down the hill and into the tall grasses, quietly cackling to himself as he sort of followed the plan and was moving to take up a position, but uh...didn't quite wait for them all to go together. "Ripper||"Menace"

The plan shifted around a little as those that preferred to be at the sides spoke up, and he had to agree a little with Ripper’s assessment of Bellatrix. But all that didn’t matter, what mattered was the hunt. Excitement running through his veins, he shot forward like a bullet, chasing after Ripper as the youngest wolf headed for the Elephant. He wasn’t annoyed, it was time the hunt started. He let out a bellow, startling the elephant and starting the process of getting it moving as the wolves fell into place around it, harrying it towards the cliff and its death.

The key was to piss it off enough that it didn’t see the drop coming. It was clear the Elephant didn’t want to face a whole pack of wolves, but he didn’t doubt it would turn on them if it realised it had no choice.

"Speech"

The chase was on! When the first few wolves moved forward, Flare moved as well. Rising up from the crouch behind the small dune, and heading into the field. The white wolf let out a bellow, which started the elephant moving.

As they took their places around the elephant, he darted forward and swiped at it with a paw. A fairly ineffective move - but it pissed the elephant off. It bellowed as it ran. The earth shook beneath each step it took. They were herding it now.

As it got closer to the cliff, Flare did more to piss it off. He teased and taunted it, nipping at its heels. It even started to turn at one point - but was then reminded of how many wolves chased it. And then the cliff was there. It started to turn, and Flare darted forward - hoping he wasn’t the only one cutting off its escape. It didn’t turn fast - whether that was its size, or the wolves coming for it, he wasn’t sure. But it hit the edge, and couldn’t catch itself. It fell with a ballow.
