Well, she lied. One more spar wouldn't hurt, right? It wasn't even sundown yet and she was feeling pretty good so why not make the most of it? She was running out of water though, so after one more spar she would have to go back to Insomnia for the night. Taking another swig and leaving just enough for herself to drink from after, she set it aside and took a deep breath.

Tipping her head back for the final time today, Widow called out for one more challenger to take her on. She didn't even care about winning or losing at this point, though of course winning fed her ego a bit and she wasn't not trying to win, she just enjoyed the thrill of it. Ending her call, she took another deep breath and sat, waiting to see who her final challenger of the day would be.

The Battlefield wasn’t far from the Armada. He had heard the first call, and the second. By the third his curiosity led him away from his duties and out into the field. Curious at the wolf who was clearly testing herself, or perhaps pulled the short end of a straw.

When he arrived, he found a purple toned wolf with a shimmer of gold markings across her face. The mountain of a wolf tipped his head to her lightly. He was accustomed to standing taller than all the wolves of the land, though she wasn’t as short as most. “Your determination does you credit. I’ll take this match.” He offered, stretching his limber legs out, and testing the suppleness of his muscles.


"Basilisk Fatalis"

Oh shit. She didn't know what to expect, but it certainly wasn't a behemoth of a wolf. She wouldn't stand down from a fight of course, but was this was she got for being greedy with sparring today? She took a deep breath and stood, bracing herself mentally for what was to come and rolled her shoulders back and forth to stretch them out.

"I don't think I've ever met someone taller than me before," she said with a smirk as she bent her elbows and lowered herself slightly to physically brace herself. She wanted to charge at him and start this spar, but she wasn't blind to the disadvantages here. He was taller and equipped with very pointy teeth that would certainly become a threat. "Come at me then," she said with a smirk and winked.

"Speech!"

Yes, he got that a lot. Giving her only a wry smile in response, he set his own position. Falling into a fighting stance with easy familiarity. At her invitation, he began. He charged towards her, moving as quickly as he was able, and hoping to take her by surprise with the speed of his attack.

He aimed to drive his shoulder into hers as he brought them into close quarters. If he was able to succeed in that first attack, he would hook his right foreleg forward in an attempt to bring it behind hers, where he could drive his bone spur into the tender joint there. He wasn’t looking to do anything permanent, and aimed accordingly.

"Basilisk Fatalis"

She'd seen plenty of wolves match her shoulder to shoulder, but this man had to be at least a foot taller than her, if not more! She was surprised by his speed too, having not expected a man so tall to race towards her. She could tell quickly that he was aiming his shoulder down into hers, but the height different made it easy to slip away from his blunt attack, however she hadn't accounted for the mans forepaw to wrap around her own, not to mention feeling the sharp bone spur teasing at her skin.

Hind legs sprang her upwards suddenly as her body curved inward towards the man, jaws snapping near his neck where it met with his shoulders and reaching with her paws to sink her cat claws into his side at his lower ribcage. Her tail flagged as she moved and curved to cover her hip and flank, protecting her delicate side and underside from the mans fangs.

Basilisk grinned, enjoying himself. Enjoying the thrumming in his veins as he fought, a hint of adrenaline through them, despite the non-lethal structure of the spar. His initial charge succeeded, bringing them closer together. Her scent was pack, and one that was vaguely familiar to him. He knew the names of the packs, but until he visited themselves, he wouldn’t be able to put a name to the scent.

His opponent lunged up suddenly, with enough speed to take him by surprise. Her jaws snapped at his neck, and her paw snaked forward. He drove his spur a little deeper into her flesh to drive her back and discourage her. At the same instant, he raised his other paw in an attempt to wrap it around her, and drag her to the ground by sheer strength alone.

There was no doubt that he had the clear advantage here. Perhaps it would've been smarter to attack underneath him, but hindsight was twenty-twenty. Hissing as she felt the spur pressing into her skin, she was distracted as his other paw came up to try and push her down.

She wasn't going to have any of that if she could help it and took a few steps to the side with her hind legs until she was perpendicular to him. Snapping teeth redirected to the sensitive flesh on the backside of his arm, between his elbow and shoulder as she began to fall back to her front feet in order to continuing pivoting herself until she stood beside him.
