It was a rogue wave that had swept him away. Taken the man when he was wading in the shallows, chomping after fish. He knew how to swim of course, it was just the situational awareness that had gotten him right good. The golden creature really had done his best to get back, but he’s perhaps not the most equipped. Swimming he’s great at. Navigating? Bay’s skills leave something to be desired. That’s why it’s taking him so darn long.

Washing up on an unfamiliar shore, but at least he’s back in Boreas. Bay’s departure on this day had been an intentional one. He’s going home, and excited to see things back to normal. Shaking the seawater from his coat and looking to the sun for a bearing, he’s one step closer. One step closer, spirits high, Bay sets off toward the south.

The creature that followed Bay out of the water might have required a second look... maybe a third by the time her trimmed back end made it clear of the waves, exposing the transition in her coat from vibrant pink to green. Slender legs were accented with thick corded feathers, her bangles and bells tinkling as she shook her mane like coat dry, the sad moppy end of her tail continued to leave a wet trail in her wake. Despite her bedraggled and unkempt appearance, the girl was upbeat, tongue lolling happily from the side of her mouth as she followed her new friend from the waves.

She barked before dropping her head and racing to catch up, sand flying in her wake. A bedraggled and belligerent raccoon waddled along after her, no doubt dreading needing to dry and separate the cords that made up her coat when they finally settled for the night, but according to Bay, they had a ways to go yet. It wouldn't do either of them any good to have her getting distracted by something cute or interesting smelling on the way there. Tansy would do her best to keep her focus.

Tansy bounded from the sea behind him, her positivity well enough to fill the space between them. Bay can be grateful for that, head coming up, tail wagging. If nothing else, there's the sound of the jingling and her company, so that's pretty cool. With the raccoon, the adventuring party made three, and what a rag-tag assortment they were.

Possibly the happiest assortment, too. "Seems like this is the right way... I think." Bay tipped his head, looking up carefully toward the sun. Tracking it westward as it begins to fall. Evening would be upon them soon. "Not a bad place to camp, yeah Tans? We're not far, but I'm hungry." Bay's tail waved high at his haunches. Optimistically, they'd be home soon.

Tansy took in the steep sloping sides of the Fjord, the cover of the trees. It was a good place to camp, and her moppy not-matted tail waved its agreement, the tinkling of her bells accenting the gesture. "Ooo, and I'd say the stars would look wonderful this far south, yes, yes?" She was excited to meet his family, hoped they would like her. She always strove to look on the brighter side of things, but just to be safe she rummaged in her satchel and pulled a card. "10 of cups! The cards agree!" She was a little smug about the domestic implications pulling the card could signify, but it she hadn't drawn the card with herself in mind. Maybe sweet Bay had a whole wife and children tucked away in this pack of his? She ignored the slight twist of her stomach.

She went rifling through her bag a little more, face falling when the only other thing she could shake lose from the bag was crumbs. The girl was visibly crestfallen. "Oooh but we're out of snacks!" She glared at the card. "How are we supposed to appreciate our blessings on an empty stomach!?" She didn't pout, (yes she did). Hunting had never been her forte, her jingling and jangling made her useless when it came to stealth.

The two of them, all wagging tails and saltwater. It's not a bad life to lead, and Bay doesn't mind it one bit. Bright eyed and happy, the golden boy grins as he looks to his companion. Ten of cups, while he's not well-read on the subject, her reaction is enough to give his heart wings. "I think they're pretty," a twitch of his tail, perhaps implying the just like you of it all.

"You do the appreciating, I'll do the fishing." The words are brassy, easy as they slip past his lips. Bay does a bit of rummaging among his sparse belongings, coming up with a length of jute cordage and one of the sparse bone fishing hooks he had left. Perhaps he'd broken a few more than he'd anticipated on the trip back, but it's no matter, really. That's why he makes extras!

Moving up onto the banks of the fjord, searching for good dirt-- ah, there we go. Flipping the first couple rocks he finds, there are more than enough bugs to bait his hook. Casting it into the water, worm and all, Bay is quite proud of himself. "Do you want to get a fire going?" A warm light in his eyes. Right, may as well do the camping thing right. That, and getting the damp chill from their bones would be best done sooner, rather than later.

Tansy slipped the glasses that dangled around her neck up to rest on her nose and glanced about. It didn't help her vision at all, but she thought it certainly added to her mysterious allure. Lips quirking up, she clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth and let a little dramatic huff free. She supposed if he was going to catch their dinner she could go about gathering wood to make them a fire.

She lowered her glasses and then set to casting about the sides of the fjord, doing her best to collect dry bits of timber and ferry them back to where she had left her satchel and spread out her shawl. She carefully stacked some of the smaller bits of timber against each other, leaving a little opening, like a house made of sticks, but that wouldn't be enough, not yet. Fire making was so tedious.
