Riot- Medium Prey Hunt

Mule deer were a thing. Sid wasn't sure that she'd ever eaten one, but she wanted to. The girls stomach was growling in protest with a steady "Feed me. Feed me. Feed me." So she supposed she would listen and feed it. She had nothing better to do.
Pink nose wiggled, testing the wind to locate the small herd of deer. Could you even call three deer a herd? She didn't know. Still, herd or not, she was gonna eat one. Mismatched eyes cast to the ground as she noted the hoofprints pressed into damp earth. Some were larger than others. Sid wasn't huge, so she'd probably choose one of the smaller deer to gnaw on. That was being responsible, right? Not killing more than she could eat or something? Hmm... when she found the deer, was she going to be able to kill it herself?

Head carried low, gaze bright and burning. Iscariot’s gait is an easy one-two trot over the ground. Quick, despite her meager size. Brilliant gaze, tongue flickering over her nose. Scent worked better that way, so long as there’s damp. Mule deer— Riot could smell them. Bigger than she might be able to take on her own, but surely she’s not the only one who smelled them. Surely she’s not the only hunter out today. As she nears, a pastel girl catches her eye. Good enough company, fine. Fine, if she can’t do it on her own. ”Around the bend there, I’ll flush one to you, then meet you on it?” The business of survival. Iscariot can get behind that, at least. Better chances of success if they did this together. |

A scent and a voice, Sid turned her head, gaze falling upon a very small wolf. Ears shifted to catch the fae's words and Sid nodded. "Aye," was all that she spoke in return. Her hungry belly wouldn't let her say much more. If they could work this out together, then everyone would come away full and happy.
As the smaller fae crept off, Siduri silently sought out cover. The girl hunkered down in the foliage, using the shadows to the best of her ability. There weren't many places in the world that matched her coat colors, eh? Muscles bunched in preparation, claws digging into the earth. Sid was ready to hunt. She was ready to eat.

Quick and precise, Iscariot slinks off. Closer to the herd, ever closer. Mule deer, small dear. Enough for the two girls to chow down, at least. Good practice, and a good chance to fuel the rest of her explorations for the day. Iscariot won’t waste time. Gaze locking on an older individual, wobbling toward the back of the herd. She’s intent, intense, as she cuts wide around them. Careful not to reveal herself until the time is right. No hesitation. Never. Off like a shot, Riot cuts the chosen deer from the herd. Pushing herself at damn near warp speed, chaos and commotion around her. Well orchestrated, the deer takes off toward her waiting compatriot. One step closer to dinner. |

Sid hears the commotion before she sees any of it. It's impossible not to. With the herd startled, birds up above called out in alarm. She was ready. She was ready. She was ready. A little mantra in her head as she waited. Time slowed and the girl's muscles burned as she waited to ambush her prey. Her stomach seemed to roar now that it knew it would soon be satiated.
As the purple woman said, she'd cut a deer from the herd and ran it towards Siduri. As the ungulate drew near, Sid burst from cover, startling the deer enough that it stumbled on its long, spindly legs and fell for a moment. In the seconds that it took the deer to regain its footing, the pastel marked fae was upon it. Larger than the other wolf, she used her weight to pin the deer down, laying hard on its shoulder with her teeth imbedded in its neck. She could feel the other woman assisting, but she couldn't spare a glance.
The deer thrashed until it could thrash no more, eventually laying still and dead. Siduri unlocked her jaws from its neck and lay back on the red leaves. "Woooooo," she said, panting to regain her breath. "Good job." Soon her belly would be filled, but she needed a damn breather first.

Taking the mule deer down isn't the worst task, and Iscariot is frankly glad she's got the help. The pale and pastel girl is quick to pull the beast from its feed, toppling it and making quick work. Iscariot takes some joy in moving at its heels, sweeping in and assisting with the kill. While the beast was stumbling and flailing, Riot is able to catch up. Her teeth on the mule deer's thigh, she's quick to sink into the blood-rich tissue. There had to be an artery, a vein in here if she rips and tears enough. Catching something that feels suspiciously like paydirt and pulling back, muzzle and chest coated in blood-- fuck yeah. "You too." Iscariot pants, catching her breath. Yeah, they could eat soon, but that was hard work. At least it was caught, at least it was dead. Hard part was done. |
