Rakia prowled through the snow-laden expanse, her icy blue eyes scanning the monotonous landscape for any new information in the hoofprints they were trailing. The wind whipped around her, carrying with it the scent of crisp pine and frostbitten undergrowth, a delicate perfume that masked the tantalizing scent they were doggedly tracking.
Underneath, the snow was compacted and brittle from the weight of their quarry. The edges of the tracks were slightly blurred, proof of the time that had passed. But judging by the pace of the moose's gait, they were travelling much faster. Its direction as it veered south towards a thicket of pine trees. The way it stopped briefly, perhaps to rest or simply marvel at its surroundings.
She felt her heart pounding in her chest, not from exertion but anticipation. Her breath materialized in ephemeral clouds before her face, disappearing like fleeting thoughts into the cold air. Oh, they were getting ready to have a lot of fun.

Melanth had made a decision to stick with the oddly colored woman and the two wolves who’d joined them in their previous hunt. It seemed the game around here was plentiful enough that even she would never go hungry again. Helonia didn’t care to join this time. As much as she enjoyed the destruction, Mel wanted to attempt to do so on her own. "Don’t fuck up or else I’ll have to finish the job." Her familiar taunting voice brought a low growl to rumble. Blood gaze never once straying from the set of hooves they trekked.
Temperatures here were not felt through the heat of her body. Excitement pumped her veins like buzzing bees. Humming in anticipation and adrenaline, Mel’s tail brushed the length of her back legs in giddiness. Like a pup having their first hunt.
Attention looked to Rakia as if to ask could she take the lead on this one. Delicate paws moving her a few inches ahead as nose scented at the frosty air. They were close.

With one successful hunt under their belts, why not stick around to see how long this little ragtag hunting party could push their luck? Azrael was a brute all about results, and these wolves had proven themselves effective once. Let's see if consistency was in their repertoire along with their hunting prowess... The group moved through the winter woods in pursuit of a larger prize this time—the scent of a moose fresh in his nares, spurring primal predatory instincts to the surface of the Saxe wolf's brain. Ordinarily, such a massive target would give even a seasoned hunter pause, but with the group and knowing he could let them take on the brunt of an angry bull moose's fury, Az saw no reason to not reach for that prize. With the adrenaline of their recent hunt still flowing in his veins, the dusky violet brute pushed forward alongside the others.
The moose was proving a more difficult quarry to track than the elk had been. Its gait was faster, its strides larger. But it stood no match for a quartet of perseverant wolves. Misty breath escaping his nostrils like the steam of a train engine every time he sampled the air, Azrael followed the musk of the moose and those long, wide tracks in the snow. Winter really did make hunting far too easy for the predators. The scent was getting thicker in the air; they weren't far away now...

Aristaios crouched beside the others, his mismatched eyes tracing the hoof prints etched in the snow. The compacted drifts revealed their quarry's passage, its blurred edges marking time — a hunters gaze would catch these details easily. The wind brought the scent of pine and undergrowth, masking and yet still hinting at the moose's trail.
He noted the moose's swift pace, its path veering south towards a pine thicket, a brief stop indicating a moment of rest. Who knew why. Anticipation surged through him, his breath forming transient clouds in the icy air. They were closing in, the thrill of the hunt intensifying. This group was good, a moose wouldn’t be an issue. The chase promised excitement, and Aristaios felt ready for the pursuit.

While Ezekiel wouldn’t normally stick around with a hunting party after a successful hunt, the tracks of a moose close to where they had taken down their first prey was too good of a deal to pass up. He lingers toward the back of the group as they follow the musk of the huge animal, quickly yet silently picking their way across the snowy landscape as they hunt for the one whose tracks can see be plainly seen in the snow.
They travel in silence, each wolf seemingly in their own world as they stalk toward the doomed creature. Saliva pools in his mouth as the anticipation of the blood and death to come makes his heart skip a beat and his eyes flash with deadly delight. Eyes dart over to their leader as the tracks grow fresher and the scent stronger, waiting for her to release the group to go and ‘hunt’.

She felt a shiver of anticipation run down her spine. She moved silently through the snow-dusted landscape, her golden eyes blazing with a primal hunger. Her nose was filled with the earthy scent of the elusive moose and her senses were on high alert. There it was! It’s massive lumbering form manifesting from between the pine trees. With a quick sideways glance to the rest of the hunting party, she made the independent decision to peel off from the rest- to hopefully be able to cut it off when the chase began.
Once she was in position, she flexed her muscles in preparation. Digging her claws into the ground in an almost cat-like manner. As the chase began, she darted out from her cover. Lunging for a hold- anywhere she could grab it. The purchase she found just so happened to be in the hide of it’s shoulder blade. Hoping her added weight would be enough to slow it down.

As expected, it hadn't taken long for the experienced hunters to track down their prey. With as large as a moose was, it was only a matter of time anyway. Stalking through the woods, its massive silhouette appeared from between the trees. Aha! Gotcha! Azrael was practically quivering with glee! Sharp teeth flashing in a wicked grin, he looked to the rest of the group in silent communication. Rakia peeled off to set up an ambush point, and once she had gotten set, Azrael motioned with a flick of his tail and a tip of his head to the others. The larger brute began a slow stalk towards the moose, positioning himself to better corral it in Rakia's direction. When everyone was prepared, he kicked off the hunt like a rocket taking launch.
Powdery snow exploded beneath his paws as he sprinted straight for the moose, all growls and snarls to get its attention and get it running towards the ambush. The moose, though bigger than the wolves, was smart enough to know not to try to take on several at once, and it turned to just GTFO as quick as it could. Unfortunately, that also made it highly stupid, as it ran right for the hidden wolf. Once the pink-tinged fae had latched onto it, Azrael was running up alongside the moose, jaws lunging for the soft tissue right beneath its shoulder where its foreleg met its body. His fangs sank in, tearing at tendons to both hamstring and pull the moose off its hooves where the wolves could more easily end its existence.

Rakia vanished the moment the time was perfect. Soon after, Azrael followed. Their partnership together did some damage to the stupid moose who, instead of fighting, chose to run. As many times as Melanth had watched from the inside of her mind. It didn't compare to actually witnessing it in the front row. Her legs pumped to launch herself across the short distance. Paws briefly off the snowed ground. Found contact in seconds to sweep up some of the white dust in their movements. Mel took no time to reach the Moose. Her gaze accessed the situation quickly to better decide where she was gonna attack first. Taking the opportunity to circle the beast. The first mistake.
Melanth felt a sharp pain in her side. A hoof had kicked her in the side. Luckily she was far enough that it did not do too much damage. It still didn't mean that it wasn't hurting like a son of bitch. "Be fucking careful. Go for the throat. QUICKLY!!" Helonia's voice rang loud in her head. Melanth growled in response; however, she took the advice and ran full speed towards the Moose. Her mouth was wide open to reach for his throat. Only, she found herself latching onto his chest. A game of tug of war was now at play as she stepped back a few steps with a hard pull. Mouth filling immediately with blood. To say she wasn't proud of herself would be an understatement.

Aristaios felt the familiar rush of the hunt as he moved swiftly through the snow, his focus sharp. He saw her dart from cover, sinking her claws into the moose’s shoulder. Seizing the moment, he lunged forward, jaws wide. The moose’s fear was palpable, its movements frantic. As he closed in, Aristaios aimed for its throat, his powerful jaws locking onto the vulnerable spot. He felt another impact, then another near him: but with his face full of moose and fur and blood who could really tell? He focused his attention on being a weight, heavy and unyielding to bring the creature down. He would have little issue with any hits he took, because he was accustomed to being battered and bruised.

The entire spectacle unfolded in Rakia's vision as if painted across a sprawling canvas, each wolf and the massive moose swathed in a dynamic whirl of action. The fatigues of the frigid cold, the fear she'd felt for her associates as they'd advanced on the creature, now seemed a world away. She began to shake off her exhaustion like a snow-sodden pelt, her body alive with the thrill of the hunt.
The moose thrashed and roared, its feeble attempts to dislodge them appearing pitiful in comparison to their collective determination. Rakia snuffed a smirk, feeling the tug of the others as they clung to the beast. Rakia lunged towards the moose, aiming for its hind legs. Her fangs sunk into its flesh, eliciting a pained roar from the creature as it bucked wildly. She held on tightly, her muscles straining with the effort, as the moose's powerful kicks threatened to dislodge her. But Rakia was relentless, her grip firm and unyielding, even as the beast's thrashing whipped her around like a ragdoll.

Adrenaline coursed through the Saxe brute's veins with every powerful pump of his heart. The thrill of the chase and the hunt got his blood flowing like nothing else did! Sure, it wasn't the same as hunting down a runaway traitor, but it was a close second. Working in tandem, all four wolves soon had a hold on some part of the massive prey animal, and despite its humongous size, it was not invincible. Azrael ripped and tugged at the soft tissue beneath the moose's leg, and with a satisfying sound of tearing flesh, the moose's legs began to buckle and fold beneath it. Az was swift on his paws to dive out of its way, using his momentum to reposition and then lunge for the downed moose's throat. This time, he was the closest wolf to its vital points, and the Saxe brute felt the satisfying squish of delicate flesh and sinew tearing apart as his fangs sank into the moose's exposed throat. There was a strangled bellow of fear, a wet and guttural sound, and then Az bit down harder. He felt the pop of tendons snapping and the moose's trachea crushing in his jaws. Blood, hot and metallic, gushed into his mouth like an ambrosia. The moose was already dead. It just didn't know it yet.

Aristaios growled in satisfaction as he felt the moose's strength waning beneath their relentless assault. Azrael's swift and brutal precision was a sight to behold, his fangs sinking into the moose's leg with a force that made the massive creature falter. Aristaios tightened his own grip, every muscle straining to hold the moose steady as its legs began to buckle.
When Azrael repositioned and lunged for the throat, Aristaios could feel the change. The moose's resistance was crumbling, the fight draining out of it with every second. The sound of flesh tearing, the scent of blood thick in the cold air – it was a symphony of victory.
Well done. Aristaios thought, his own jaws still locked onto the beast as it’s death throes wracked it’s massive body.

Melanth tore away at the moose’s chest with a snarling grin. Blood leaked from her mouth onto the white flooring. So much happening at once created a massive chaotic scene. Loud explosions of dying sounds filled the ominous air. Clouds of dense frosty breath expelling from heavy breaths. It took nothing to drop the piece of flesh rewarded for her efforts. Adrenaline the thing of the past. Now replaced by the joys of another successful hunt.
Her attention fell onto the two larger males. One of them, Azrael, still holding onto the Moose throat. It’s life draining by every ticking second that passed. Something that no longer mattered.
