Winter had seemed to touch various places of their new home. Instead of dealing with hot bits of sunlight and breezes as expected in the Southern part of Alacritis, there was a soft nip of the cold air that swept by the winds and currents of the large continent to the island. Maija accepted whatever kind of cool relief she could get from the breezes that found their ways to her with a large grin on her face. Of course, this was when no one else was around, for Maija still didn't show her joyful and happy moments in front of her pack members. Taurig was the only one lucky enough to have the pleasure of seeing her completely relaxed, and that was how she wanted it.
Even though she loved the solitude that came with her Re, she needed a bit more time to herself lately. The pups were getting bigger, making her form expand near her legs. For the moment, she wasn't pooched out on both sides, and she took that as a positive to try and catch prey for the first time being that big.
She soon realized that this wasn't the case. Her body was getting ready for her children, and instead of being filled with the energy that came with her desire for the hunt, she was quickly drained. After trying to run after a rabbit she had been stalking, she was winded -- something that hadn't happened to her before. It caught her off guard, and even though she had caught the rabbit her heart desired, it continued to bother her. Leaf green eyes became dark as she tried to get used to the idea of not being able to hunt for her husband or herself until after the pups were born. For the first time since admitting her love to Taurig, Maija was sad. It was a feeling that didn't show up a lot, but it decided to at that moment.
Maija was not the kind to dive into her emotions with anyone unfamiliar. She thought of going back to the den and spilling her guts to Taurig, but the cobalt male had enough on his plate as it was. Instead, she carried her catch in her mouth and set out to find the perfect place to relax and eat her snack. Her golden paws carried her across the outskirts of where the sand and grass met, green eyes searching for a raised area to feel the solitude. Again, she was lucky, for she didn't have to search long.
The Regina came across a raised part of the jungle part of the island. It had the sand spill out beneath it and out to the ocean, which was the view from where she stood. The open miniature valley was large enough for a few wolves to just loll about and relax, and that was what she wanted. She stood on the outer ring of trees that surrounded the border of the isolated area and sniffed for any scents that would be unfamiliar to her. Paranoia still danced in her mind, but it was muffled by her desire to enjoy the scenery and her snack. Slowly, she walked out into the open and chose an area of soft grass where she could lay down. Her stomach wasn't big to the point where she had to worry about the puppies not having enough room, but she laid on her left side with hind legs curled around her abdomen. An ear stayed perked as her radar as she looked at the perfect, shiny ocean before she dug into her food. Serenity...it was something she hadn't felt until she came here.
