I Bet They Taste Like Chicken [Large Prey Hunt]

Come down, come down sweet reverence
She'd seen them coming in from a ways off shore. Great birds, the biggest she'd ever seen. Tahmores said they were called albatross and that he avoided them. They were so big it wasn't hard to believe that they could scoop up a young pup, though Jynn doubted they would try. They seemed like standard sea birds but built on a larger scale. There were over a dozen landing in the bay. She settled down amongst the trees to watch and wait. Her keen violet eyes scouting amongst the flock for signs of weakness. Normally she didn't bother with birds. The fact they could fly made them a real pain in the butt to nail down. So much of the hunt relied on stalking and getting the prey pinned. A bird this size…. that would be an endeavor.

It was safe to say that Jiro was probably always hungry. He was a growing boy after all and it appeared that he would take on a larger than life size just like his father. Not that he was particularly proud of that, but he also didn't mind his lumbering size. Plus, he was much heavier than most of his siblings, far bulkier and sporting more muscle than his sleeker littermates. Which really, he thought made him look more attractive. Who wouldn't want a piece of this hunk?
Being that his stomach always appeared to be rumbling, Jiro set out toward the bay for some snacks. With an idea that perhaps he could help Nami bring in the fishing net since Kuroo was still away in Nihon, the boy was surprised to see Jynn lurking in the shadows along the bay's dunes. Distracted from his task, he moves over to crouch beside the long-legged maned wolf and looks out to see what she might be looking at. Was it the large birds that nested along the water's edge?
"Can I join in on the fun?" Jiro requested, his lackadaisical smirk goofy and friendly in all the right ways.

Now that she was a somewhat unofficial member of Tojo-Kai, Taiga moved through their lands with ease. She had already aided one of the pups in a hunt for porcupine quills, and the scent of that pup was ripe in the air. The hulking feline made her way towards the scent and soon Asahi came into view. Others were there as well and Taiga was surprised to see another outside species in the group.
Dipping her head in greeting, the big lioness lay on her belly, paws curled in against her chest. It was easier to talk to smaller canines when she wasn't towering over them. Her ruby gaze followed those of the trio out into the water where she spied the large birds. "A hunt? Pity we don't have a net." If the wished it of her, she would join them.

Jynn continued her watch, noting the birds landing on the grassier areas of the shore seemed to be fiddling about in the brush. Were they looking for nesting ground or some sort of food? Either way she noticed one had an injured let, the blood right against its pale plumage. It was then she was joined by Jiro and she flashed the yearling a smile. Excellent, this was the sort of hunt that would need multiple wolves. "Of course. There's an injured one that might be our meal ticket."
They were soon joined by Asahi who dropped a fish at Jiro's feet. Jynn didn't hear the words she'd spoken but offered the girl a nod of greeting. The last hunter to join them was a surprise but the scent of Tojo Kai was noticeable enough. This mighty cat had been in the territory awhile and seemed friendly enough. "Hello there, alas I don't have a net here but one of the birds appears injured. It's in the brushier side that lays closest to the swallet ring. I think I can stalk close enough to get the drop on it but I'll need help with the take down. Everyone settle in the grass on the west side of the flock. Get as close as you can. I'm going to circle around and try to attack. Something that big is going to need a bit of space to take off. If I miss hopefully one of you can intercept. Let's do this!"
Jynn headed out to circle through the grasses that lined the beach, doing her best to make a big enough loop that she wouldn't disturb any of the birds. Moving gingerly she came to the other side and prepared herself to spring.

Jiro looks to his shadow with a smile, delighted that she was willing to participate in the hunt. Before he could reply to her suggestion, a very enormous lioness approaches gently, placing her self down beside them. At first, he's speechless as he takes in her form, but the boy figures that if she's there and comfortable speaking with them that she's allowed to be here. Taiga's idea of a net is good too and he wonders if they could have borrowed one from Kuroo and Nami since their fisher huts really weren't that far off down the shore...
But it appeared Jynn already had a plan formulated in her head. Turning his attention to the maned wolf, he listens with a sure nod of his head before setting off to where she'd motioned to. As Jynn takes off to get around the flock closest to the injured bird, he looks to Taiga with a curious glance. "Don't know much about cats, but you're pouncers, not runners, yeah?" He questions as they make their way quietly and quickly to the hiding area. He had watched his companion a few times and remembered how the feline had hunted his meals. "Asahi and I can take the farther side of the flock to give them a good chase so you can get a chance on the jump," Jiro offers, a confident smile on his lips as he settles in the shadows with Asahi and Taiga to await Jynn's go ahead.

There was no net, but there was a plan. The long legged canine laid out what she believed was the best course of action and Taiga went along with it, nodding in acceptance. A younger wolf questioned her and the feline chuckled, ruby eyes lifting with mirth. "We are indeed pouncers," she confirmed. "If you herd the injured bird towards me, I can catch it before it's off the ground."
The group parted ways, Taiga creeping low and hiding herself in the brush just outside of where the bird, its wing bloodied, stood preening itself. She wondered if it could fly at all with that amount of blood on the wing. They would soon find out, she supposed. Ruby eyes watched and waited, muscles bunched and ready to pounce, since that's what cats were good at.

Jynn was glad Jiro and Asahi were going to take the further side of the flock to give them a good chase. Taiga had suggested herding the bird toward her and that sounded just fine to Jynn, such a big cat wouldn't have an issue if she got her claws in their prey. Well, it was go time. Time to see how this went.
Jynn darted forward with a powerful leap, her lithe frame darting like an arrow into the flock. Immediately the birds burst into activity, wings flapping as they tried to get off the ground. She zeroed in on the injured one, shifting her course to chase it toward where her hunting companions lay in wait. As the injured bird started to get into the air, Jynn sped up and leapt at it. Her jaws latched onto one of its legs, dragging it back down…. sort of. Oh shit…. Jynn felt her front paws leave the ground as she held on tight.

Jiro smiles as Taiga agrees, his tail wagging happily back and forth before settling into the shadows to wait. It wouldn't take long before Jynn is rushing out from the far side of the bay toward the flock of birds toward them. A cacophony of honks and squawks invade the air as he watches Jynn's long legs cover ground toward the injured bird. This was their moment!
Pushing off his paws into the shallows, Jiro bounds toward the flock that scatters into the air. While Jynn focuses on the injured bird, Jiro attempts to scatter some of the uninjured ones toward Taiga too just in case the massive lioness is able to snag one or two more than they could on their own. As he's lunging toward a few, snapping at their wings, he sees Jynn lift into the air from the corner of his eye. Oh shit.
"Jynn!" Jiro calls out, pulling away from the birds. Running toward the injured bird that was attempting to take Jynn with it, Jiro leaps into the air and grabs ahold of the other leg to help bring his friend back down to the watery ground below. It takes work, but with his bulkier frame, the bird slowly flutters back until his paws are all touching the sand.
