Seeing her parents again during the bonfire was such a surprise and very much a highlight for her. Leaving them was something she knew she needed to do in the grand scheme of branching out on her own and continuing to learn, but she did miss them very much–especially her dad. Because of that she couldn't possibly pass up the opportunity to spend some time with him while he was in The Hallows for the bonfire. The next morning–after eating some breakfast, of course–she walked with him down to the beach near the castle while she filled him in on what her first few weeks living in a new pack had been like. Getting settled in her new room, how different it was living in a castle versus a cave, sneaking some wine with Ember, playing around with the idea of learning how to use a sword, all of it.

It was a warm Auster day with lots of sunshine which made it all the more perfect for them to be on the beach. She looked over at her dad with a grin as she asked, "Remember when you used to throw me into the water?" She giggled at the memory as she walked up to the edge of the water, letting the lapping waves wash up over her paws. She was a lot bigger than she had been back then. Now she was big enough to match her father's height. For the longest time she thought she'd end up somewhere more along the lines of her mother, but a late growth spurt put her at Mavericks' height much to her surprise and delight. "I bet you can't get me in the water now," she challenged with a grin, turning towards him as she settled down into a fighting stance. "What do you say? First one to knock the other into the waves wins?"

Coming down to visit the Hallows for their bonfire festival had been exactly what he and Venom needed, especially when it came with the much added benefit of getting to reconnect with their daughter and see how she had been faring in the southern dwelling pack. There had been much catching up over food and wine during the bonfire, and the following morning Maverick had awoken early to spend more time with his little girl, though she was not so little anymore. He left Venom asleep in their guest room to sleep off the effects of last night especially since the Kleins were nocturnal by nature. That was okay; it left him more time to catch up with his only daughter, and boy howdy, was he a girl dad for sure!

Both Klein wolves headed down to the beach for a morning jog to start their day, and while Maverick was also more used to a nocturnal schedule thanks to his beloved, he wouldn't mind shaking up his routine to hang out with Rebel. Her stories brought a fatherly smile to the sire wolf's face, happy to hear of all the fun she had so far and the friends she had made in the Hallows. It seemed like she was really setting her own path and thriving, and it made Maverick both happy and a little melancholy. He missed the days of living in Ashen when they were pups, when things were easy and all he had to worry about was throwing them too far into the lake. As if reading his mind, Rebel chimed in recalling how he used to do exactly that. It brought a roguish smile to Maverick's face, shooting a cheeky grin at his daughter. "How could I forget? That was my favorite pastime when you and your siblings were little loaves," he teased her back. What fun times those had been... Although now he did not think he'd be able to throw his dire sized daughter anywhere.

Following Rebel's path out toward the water so the lapping surf could tickle their toes, Mav took a moment to just appreciate how much his child had grown. She was a fully grown adult wolf now, mature-ish and living her own life. It still astonished Maverick that he'd actually made it as a father and had not fucked up his pups' lives royally. With that gentle smile still on his face, the brute blinked and met his doppelgänger daughter's challenging grin when she claimed he could not throw her in the water now. Well, no, she was absolutely right about that, but it did not mean he was not going to try! Rebel assumed her fighting stance just ahead of him, squaring up in the sand to challenge him to a beach brawl. Mav's teal eyes lit up with a daring playfulness. Oh, she wanted to go, did she?

"All right, little missy, if you wanna get dunked so bad, try to take on your old man!" Grinning from ear to ear, Maverick assumed his fighting stance, paws spread, muscles tensed. Then he lunged forward, barreling right for Rebel to throw his entire weight against her, chest to chest, much like a sumo wrestler. They were similar in height, so his goal was simple: use his greater muscles and weight to throw her off balance and dunk her in the sea.

There had been no doubt that her father would take her up on her challenge and just as she suspected he did just that. He immediately moved into a fighting stance as he challenged her in return to try and take down her old man. Her grin widened with excitement as she matched his fighting stance with one of her own–setting her paws as firmly as she could on the sandy surface and coiling her muscles to get ready to dodge whatever it was her dad was about to throw at her. Even though she had managed to match him in height he was still a more filled out, muscular build than she was so she knew she'd have to try and avoid his attacks where she could. As she had kind of expected he would, he came charging toward her across the short stretch of beach between them and she kept her position with her legs bent and ready to spring until he was close enough that he wouldn't be able to redirect if she jumped out of the way.

At the very last moment she sprung to her right to get out of the way and dodge the sumo wrestler style slam he had tried to pull on her, letting him go past her instead. That much of her dodge was successful, however she hadn't really taken into account the rushing waves that were sweeping across the surface of the sand they were fighting on and another wave came in just as she was landing back on the beach and it swept around her paws strongly enough to throw off her footing. With a little yelp of surprise she was pulled down onto her side by the water. Luckily the sand was a soft enough surface that the impact didn't really bother her, but it did catch her off guard and she laid there blinking for a split second before scrambling back to her paws and spinning around to face her father again, grinning and hoping maybe he hadn't noticed the spill she took. "You're going to have to be faster than that, old man!" she teased and taunted, giving herself a quick shake to toss off the sand clinging to her shoulder and side before she rushed forward for an attack of her own.

She kept an eye on the waves that had receded again after pushing her off balance as she moved back toward her dad, both to avoid her blunder again and to work it to her advantage. She leapt forward toward him a couple of times, pouncing toward him and back again as she feigned one way and then another a couple of times to hide what her real intentions were. As soon as she water came rushing back up the shore toward them again she jumped to his side that was facing the upper part of the beach and reared up to shove her forepaws into his shoulder to try and push him into the water and hopefully use the wave that rushed in around their paws to aid her efforts.

Maverick charged Rebel, and as he expected his daughter was quick to dodge out of the way. If she had tried to stand toe to toe with him barreling right at her, she was gonna have a bad time and Mav would have to teach his headstrong daughter a valuable lesson about picking her fights more wisely. Fortunately, she demonstrated some wherewithal and jumped out of his path, leaving the dire brute to come to a skidding halt, kicking up sand in his wake. He turned to face Rebel—and almost burst out laughing when he saw her scrabbling to her paws. It looked like she'd taken a spill and was trying to play it off, but the wet sand covering half of her told him otherwise. Grinning with amusement, Mav turned to face her again, the two giant wolves maneuvering around one another back and forth on the beach while the water lapped at their toes.

Back and forth they went with Rebel using feint attacks against him while he tried to find an opening against her that didn't involve taking them both down at the same time. However, before he could, Rebel used her more agile build to zip alongside him and go to push him into the surf. Mav tried to round himself on her, but Rebel was too quick, and with a shove and the wet sand around his toes, Maverick lost his balance and went toppling over into the shallow salt water. He tried to grab Rebel to bring her down with him, but he missed and wound up drenched on his own. Lifting his soaked head with wet fur hanging in front of his eyes, Mav blew his bangs out of his vision and shot Rebel a playful glare. "Guess you've been learning some good moves down here, eh kiddo?" he teased her with a chuckle, getting out of the water and deliberately shaking his dripping fur out beside her. Hey, nobody said Maverick was a graceful loser.
