Korona moved cautiously through Cryer’s Ravine, her sharp eyes scanning the dimly lit surroundings. The air was cool and still, the scent of earth and damp stone mingling in her nostrils. She stepped lightly, her paw pads barely making a sound on the uneven ground. Her cosmic fur with galactic markings didn’t blend into anything – not the scattered patches of light filtering through the sparse canopy above, not the shadows she trounced through either. At least her fur had a base of darkness, otherwise she’d have been broadcasting herself constantly. She had opportunities to hunt, but as young as she was… she was still working on that.
She had heard tales of hidden places within the ravine, and her curiosity had driven her to explore its depths. The stories of others' misfortune had not deterred her; if anything, they had only heightened her interest. Broken legs? Twisted ankles? As she navigated the narrow path, she kept her senses alert, ears twitching at every subtle noise. She had a companion nearby, her father’s wolverine. But she had told him to not breathe down her neck.
It was as she was poking about at a weird scent rubbed against a tree, that her fur began to bristle.
Suddenly, a low growl echoed through the ravine, freezing Korona in her tracks. She turned her head, her emerald eyes narrowing as she spotted movement ahead. Emerging from the shadows, a massive boar lumbered into view, its tusks gleaming menacingly in the dim light. The creature’s eyes were dark and furious, its body bristling with aggression as it fixed its gaze on Korona. She didn’t know what it was – a big pig? But it had tusks, and it was squealing something awful right into her poor ears.
She knew instantly that this boar was not one to be trifled with. It pawed at the ground, snorting loudly, and took a step forward, its muscles rippling beneath its coarse fur. Korona’s heart pounded in her chest as she assessed the situation. There was no easy escape; the sides of the ravine were too steep to climb quickly, and the path behind her was narrow and treacherous.
The boar charged without warning, a furious blur of muscle and tusk. Korona leaped to the side, her agility saving her from the initial attack. She landed lightly on her paws, her mind racing as she tried to devise a plan. The boar turned with surprising speed, its eyes locked onto her with a deadly determination. It was dead set on harming her, and Korona knew she had to act fast.
With a burst of energy, Korona darted to the left, using the uneven terrain to her advantage. She zigzagged through the ravine, hoping to confuse the boar and find a momentary respite. The creature followed relentlessly, its anger palpable. Korona’s breaths came quick and shallow as she pushed herself to her limits, her muscles burning with the effort. She was too young to keep this up!
In a desperate bid, she spotted a narrow crevice in the ravine wall, just wide enough for her to squeeze through. She dashed towards it, her body a blur of stars and color. The boar, too large to follow, slammed into the wall with a deafening crash, its frustration evident in its furious snorts.
Korona pressed herself into the crevice, panting heavily. She watched as the boar paced back and forth, its eyes still locked on her hiding place. She knew she was not out of danger yet, but for the moment, she had a chance to catch her breath and plan her next move. Until the damn thing started to try and root her out!! “Fuck!! Go away!!” She screeched, fores lashing out to scratch at the massive pigs nose, trying to keep it away as she pressed her body more and more into her hiding hole.

It was quite often that Urtur would leave his side to keep an eye on a pup. Whether it was Gilda or Korona (the ones who needed the most guidance) or one of the others, Gilgamesh was never surprised when the wolverine would approach in a hurry. Urtur didn't really stop the pups from crossing harm's path, but more allowed them to figure it out themselves. Often it was against a weasel or snake, something that could easily be scared off by the pup or even Urtur himself. But this time was different.
As Gilgamesh stopped his patrol along the ravine's border, he looks to the wolverine's panicked expression. With few words, he was explained that Korona had crossed paths with a territorial male boar that was currently chasing her through the ravine. A grumble escapes him, eyes narrowing at Urtur in frustration. "You could not have handled the boar yourself?" Gilgamesh questions his companion who merely gives him a roll of his eyes in response. As if to say it is your pup, not mine sir. Well, if anyone was to save the girl, it would have to be him.
Following Urtur through the dense underbrush, long legs taking him faster and farther than the wolverine after a short while, it had not taken long to hear the commotion. Furious snorting and grunting lit the air, scattering birds and vermin alike. Leaves and bushes shook and rattled with the fury of the boar that rooted and dug at the ravine wall. "Korona!" Gilgamesh calls out, yellow eyes searching to see where the galactic pup was hiding until he narrows in on the crevice the boar is bashing into.
Clever. He thinks to himself as he approaches quickly. While the boar may have been quite large compared to Korona, it wasn't quite large enough that he couldn't take it on himself. Lunging forward, Gilgamesh grabs ahold of the boar's hindleg. Dragging it back and away from the crevice that the girl hides in, Gilgamesh picks it up before slamming it back onto the ground. The boar thrashes and squeals, attempting to gore him with its tusks. A slice of pain cuts across his chest, but its nothing he hasn't felt before. Slamming it a second time against the ground as if it were a toy, he lets go of the herbivore as it attempts to stand.
Dazed and confused, the boar stumbles and groans. The leg Gilgamesh had ahold of is clearly broken and useless. Blood seeps down its leg and from its nostrils as beady eyes continue to blink away stars. Satisfied that the boar was subdued enough, Gilgamesh lets out a bark for Korona, beckoning her to come out of hiding. As he looks for the girl, he gives her a devious smile. "Do you wish to do the honors? It is only right since it attempted to take your life that you be the one to take its," Gilgamesh speaks, typical monotone voice laced with curiosity and perhaps a hint of gleeful malice. What pup didn't like to shed a little blood from time to time?

Korona’s heart still pounded from her narrow escape, her cosmic fur pressed against the cold stone of the crevice. Hearing Gilgamesh’s call, she peeked out cautiously, but the sight of him handling the boar stirred a new wave of fury within her. How dare that beast chase her, threaten her life like that? Her amber eyes blazed with anger and satisfaction as she watched her father subdue the boar with a mix of strength and finesse, his every move calculated to crush the creature into the ground where it belonged!
When the boar lay dazed and broken, Gilgamesh's voice reached her ears. The suggestion he made caused her to stiffen, and yet her eyes narrowed with determination. She emerged from her hiding spot, her limbs still trembling with adrenaline. Approaching the subdued boar, she could feel the weight of Gilgamesh's gaze upon her, urging her to complete the task.
Korona hesitated only for a moment, her mind racing. The boar's groans and the sight of its blood only fueled her anger. She glanced up at Gilgamesh, his expression unreadable, though his words still echoed in her mind. The honors. The idea of taking a life, even one that had threatened hers, was… daunting, but her will to live and the indignation that the beast could have turned her into a ragdoll overrode her hesitation.
Gathering her resolve, she stepped closer to the boar, her paws steadying as she focused on her task. The girl sneered, her jaws snapping as she shot forward. Her paws came up to latch into the boar, using her weight and its weakened state to dig her fangs in deep. With a swift motion, she ended its suffering with teeth and a twist, feeling a rush of satisfaction wash over her. Triumph, vindication, and a sense of power she couldn’t quite name just yet. She looked up at Gilgamesh, her breath heavy but her eyes blazing with intensity. As she stood there, blood on her paws and the taste of victory hot on her tongue, she grinned a little bit more widely.

Gilgamesh watches Korona closely. Her next moves would tell a lot about the woman she would grow up to be. When, after a moment of hesitation, she steps up to dispatch the boar, he looks upon her with pride. It was not the way of the Raider to be soft and kind to those who were unnecessarily cruel to them. The boar had messed with the wrong wolf today and it had paid the price for it.
As Korona beams up at him with a wide smile, Gilgamesh smiles back. His tail even gives a few wags as he steps forward and presses his nose to her forehead. "Good job keeping yourself together," he murmurs quietly to her though he knows how scared she must have felt being trapped in the ravine's crevice. "Let's take this to Kenway to get butchered and you can keep the tusks," Gilgamesh winks before picking the boar up by the back of its neck and heading back toward his son's animal rendering location.
