The dust had drifted, and the bones rose stark against the dark blood-stained ground. No lush grassy ridges and overgrowth to hide them. No, the land was haunted and cursed by the blood that was shed here. The bones unlike that of Fossil Ridge, littered this dust bowl as reminders of lives once lived more recently.

Eltrys would learn more, about how each opponent approached, started, and ended. Even if they bested him he would learn. How would he sidestep a new player on the battlefield? How could be brace himself against a charged onslaught?

He lifted his nose to the sky, a long doleful deep howl, calling for an opponent. Let them test their skills against each other in this desolate wasteland.

Bellatrix Ravenwood

She moved, a happy pep to her step as yet another call for an opponent caught her attention. Her grin spread easily recognizing the vocals. Today she could test her mettle against another adult and one that had the knowledge and experience behind him. He had taught and now she would show him she was no slouch either.

Frank gave a grunt and she giggled as she lead them towards the call. She approached from his backside, though she made sure to walk past with a friendly nod and wag to her tail, stopping and about facing about fifteen to twenty feet from his front. She gestured with a paw for him, after all it was always polite to let the teachers go first. Though Frank had been kept behind him and she did her best to not let him know the reindeer was there.

She rolled her shoulders and narrowed her eyes waiting for his go. She was more than prepared to defend against larger opponents. She was starting to feel like her and Gav were the smallest two in Ardent. Speaking of, Maybe the older man would know if Gav was around after the fight, she would enjoy a good hunt with him again. Her tail struck out straight behind her with a gently wag. No need to be completely serious.

The bright and cheerful miniature form of Bellatrix came from behind him. He had heard her coming already, she was a bright and attentive student, though interestingly focused on the winged Polaris lad Gavroche.

Overhead, Feyr, the swallow-tailed kite swooped and soared gracefully overhead. She called to Eltrys in a high singing trill to watch his back. With a quick half glance behind him, he saw the reindeer and smiled proudly to himself. Good, her tactic was a clever one, but he had a few tricks weaved into his earth-toned fur himself. Including the slender form of a dangerous fossa, Dagdrin, slinking between Eltrys' legs.

She set her stance, Eltrys set his. Looks like she was letting him make the first move. He set his paws to charging, his companion next to him. He lowered his antlered helm at her, set to lift her off the ground. He knew her small size would have her dancing around him, so at the last moment he skidded along the dirt rounding his body to turn on a dime and attempted to scoop her up with his helm and toss her aside.

She was ready the moment he moved. Eyes stayed narrowed on him, though briefly she too noticed of the Fossa. She kept her spot letting him come to her. Her muscles bunched and she gave her mischievous smirk to the man. He seemed to want to lift her and so lift her she would let him. Her bunched muscles sprung to life, aiming to spring her over Eltry's back and land her hind end among his "antlers" where the tines might not poke her much with her smaller size.

Her aim was to sit on him. Maybe her weight would force his head to the ground and she could win this just by sitting on him. Wouldn't that be funny? She thought so.

She caught a glance of Frank and the Fossa. Frank had run up as the two charged and was intent on keeping the Fossa busy. His own antlers aimed to scoop the companion up and toss it in the same motion seemingly aiming to place it on his own back. Silly reindeer if u asked her.

Instead of scooping and throwing the little purple trickster she clung to his helm and sat within the tines! He let out a hearty laugh as his head was weighed down! He threw his head back and forth as hard as he could to dislodge her from her perch, using his paw to grab some portion of her, a tail a leg and pull her off him hopefully to transfer her under him with a heavy weighted curl up around her.

Eltrys bird flew down and aimed to distract the reindeer by flapping in its face while the fossa avoided the deer and leaped up on Eltrys' back to snap and chase the girl off the man's helm!

She could feel his laugh as she was upon his head, and she gave a grin. She was a little minx when it came to battle, a daughter Beauregard could be proud of hopefully! As he tried to shake her off she aimed to set her jaws on his scruff. Not enough to hurt but with an idea in her mind. She wanted to keep from going under him completely, as she could feel his paw grab onto her left back leg. She wasn't scared though. The man wouldn't be aiming to hurt her. But she needed to use her own wits to even attempt to win this.

Her paw aimed to slap the fossa away as she also brought it down to grip onto Eltry's shoulder as she fell to the left. Hopefully this would work and she would be able to jump off him and come out completely unscathed. Frank was seemingly unperturbed by the bird but did lay down as he saw she was doing her best to think her way out of this situation.
