spring has sprung, or whatever, and in the wake of whatever cosmic horniess gripped her packmates, Yarra finds herself tripping over puppies left and right. they’re…ugh…everywhere. they’re squealing and running about, tripping over clumsy feet and pestering their parents with moronic questions. it’s…grating comes to mind. Yarra has always expected she’d have children of her own some day - further the Saxe line and all that - but now that she’s faced with her own family’s spawn, she can’t say the notion greatly appeals to her. no, Yarra is more than happy to slip out of her den early most mornings and practice some offensive moves away from the others, trying to keep those feelings of inadequacy at bay. it’s during one such jaunt, however, that heralds a strange…occurrence. Yarra is boxing at thin air, relishing the strain and ripple of her muscles as she lands blow after blow on some invisible opponent, when a garbled shriek rents the air. Yarra pauses, eyes narrowing. at first, she thinks it’s one of the brats whining for attention - but then she spots it a few paces away: a buck, it’s beady eyes trained on her as it paws at the earth.

when Yarra makes eye contact, the buck gives another scream and charges forward, head lowered so the points of each antler is directed her way. Yarra gives a squawk of indignation, fury mounting as she darts of the range. how dare it? prey doesn’t act this way! the buck, however, simply whirls in a circle and begins to mount a second charge.

Grumpy. Araxina found a new target and already they had slipped away from her. FINE She'll find SOMEONE else to play with! She practiced greeting everyone with the scowly curled lip and then spied a dark older woman, who was... OH! Yarrabelle, wandering away from everyone else. Where the hell was she off to? Time to find out!

With a quick snap snap of her teeth, she crouched into a slinking motion and followed Yarrabelle. She had been intent on practicing her hunting on Yarrabelle but Xina got entranced by the way the woman moved. What move was that? Xina wanted to try that on Ludo!

Suddenly both the spy and fighter are distracted by the oddest of noises. It was garbely and shrieky! Xina furrows her brows and looks around, no one better be picking on Seri without her! Just as Xina was about to head back the sound erupts again and she's able to pinpoint it properly! A... WHAT? Is that a deer? Aren't they supposed to run away from us?

It was after Yarrabelle! With a high pitch howl of indignation, Araxina breaks cover and drives her firey form at the beast. It was circling Yarra, so Xina launched into the air and grabbed its bony flesh just below the elbow, crashing her teeth together over the beast's strong foreleg! Its back leg kicks the girl off easily, winding her but making her smarter. She pulls out of the ring to get her breath while she weakly snarls and swipes at the buck. The deer was between her and Yarra now!

Yarra is so focused on the deranged creature that it takes them a moment to comprehend the sight before them: a howl draws her attention, and Yarra whips around just in time to spot a blur of movement and a hint of bright red fur. one of Absi and Aresenn’s spawn comes charging over, little face contorted with fury as she springs an attack on the crazed herbivore. Yarra is stunned for a moment, both by the child’s nerve and by the ferocity of the deer, but she’s quick to snap out of it. Absi will kill her if she lets one of her children get injured. “kid, get behind me,” she orders sharply, eyeing the deer warily.

its eyes are wide and crazed, hooves stamping as it puffs angry little breaths from his shiny flat nose. a shiver runs down Yarra's spine, a mix of thrill and apprehension. she hasn't been this surprised in a while, and it's a rather welcome feeling. the adrenaline of the unexpected. Yarra moves to shield the girl from the buck's crazed stare, tensing as it tracks her every movement. the wicked points of each antler pierce the sky, and Yarra paces in an agitated line as she waits. the anticipation hangs over them like a thick cloud. "you good, kid?" Yarra inquires to the girl, tail swishing. "'cause i think this bastard is looking for a round two." oops, should she really have sworn in front of a child? ah, whatever, this is Absi's kid; she's probably heard way worse. as though on cue, the buck snorts again and charges for them, anglers lowered. Yarra snarls, and races forward, hoping to apprehend the creature before it can injure the girl.

Xina glances at the larger stronger woman and lifts her lip at the order to get behind her. Hell no! She's no weakling to cower behind someone else! She lowers her head and watches the rump of the crazy deer. As the early spring chill was still in the air, she saw its breath catch in the sunlight as it readied itself to charge again. Xina felt the thrill of the battle enter from her paws first and shiver through her bones. She'll show this lady that she can take care of it too! Even though the pup was winded and gathering her breath.

She does see the wisdom in taking the woman's offer in at least being together to face this thing so she stays put while the dark and gold Ghazi moves to shield her. She huffs though.

She doesn't respond to the woman initially, except to snap her teeth like she is about to charge at the beast herself.
"We can take it! Fucking prick!" She yells at the towering buck, lowering its head and snorting. "We'll make a meal outta you!" She taunts with a wild toothy grin, snaking her tongue over her salivating teeth.

The buck charges them and a breath behind the larger woman was the tiny girl ready to latch on to its ankles. She leaps for the beast her puppy teeth ready to crunch as hard as she can. The skinny leg is easily overtaken by her maw! Xina rips the tender skin to shreds as she snarls and thrashes her head against it. The taste of blood meets her tongue and it's divine! Making her salivate more!

the girl is reluctant to hide behind Yarra, which, given her parentage, Yarra probably should’ve expected. still, it certainly makes her mission of keeping Absi’s daughter safe rather more difficult than initially thought. as Yarra slams into the buck’s shoulder, sinking her claws into its smooth hide, she catches sight of Araxina mawling their quarry’s leg, using her little teeth to strip skin from bone. a mix of surprise and approval wash over her; the girl is certainly a nasty little cretin.

the buck gives a sharp jerk, drawing her attention back to the present. as it waves it’s antlers threateningly through the air, Yarra rises onto her hind legs and balances herself by placing a forepaw on its neck, leveraging herself to clamber onto its back. it’s a risky move, as she has to work to keep her balance, made increasingly difficult as the buck kicks furiously and tosses its head from side to side, but Yarra sinks her teeth into the join where it’s skull meets its neck, growling low. blood bathes her tongue, fills her mouth. it’s warm, the iron-tangle igniting her senses, and for a moment Yarra simply loses herself to the familiar bliss of mindless violence. she’s best like this, reduced to nothing but a system of working parts - a weapon in the skin of a woman. the buck shrieks in pain, splitting the air with its frenzied cries, but the sound only spurs Yarra on. her teeth sink deeper, aiming for bone. Yarra has just enlighten presence of mind to let her eyes rove to the girl, however, ensuring she’s handling herself.

although, given what she’s seen today, Yarra suspects she’s doing just fine.

The buck screams the taste of blood on the little one's lips. Insensed and frenzied she digs in and then dodges back as its slender hooves try to kick her away. She launches herself off a rock face sideways to grasp at the hock of her quarry! Snarling and growling, and pulling against the skin with her teeth. She was oblivious to what Yarrabelle was doing. The only thing that exists is blood and death! Fur and Fury! The buck kicks again and she lets go trying to dodge the beast. She worked to move in and out just like her mother taught her but her mind wasn't letting her think clearly, just just wanted to take it down! She launched again, this time she grasped a tendon in the stomping and screaming buck in one of its hind legs, and her tiny fierce teeth snapped the Achilles tendon clean causing the buck to crumple and topple over!

She barked a scream as it started to come down on top of her, Not fast enough her hind legs got trapped beneath its rump! She scrambled against the heavy cervid!
