Just Going With The Flow Of Blood

Storm clouds built on the horizon but the path of the wind suggested the storms would move just south of her. Marrow eyes their movement for a moment more before stuffing her face back in her food. She'd had the good luck to find a freshly dead pronghorn antelope. The cause seemed to be disease and as the first predator on scene she assumed it was meant for her and she wasn't too keen to share with anyone other than the ravens and crows as long as they behaved themselves.
Marrow seized a portion of the shoulder. Placing her front paws down on the back she pulled hard to release the muscle and leave herself a nice chunk of flesh to chew on. Marrow was working contentedly on her meal when out of the corner of her eyes she spied a pair of coyotes. She immediately snarled. Mangy scavengers! Trying to take what was hers. She whirled around with a vicious growl and dove at the coyotes to send a message. This was her kill!

Tarnish wasn't sure what to do with himself. He'd been doing so well then his illness derailed his usual sense of self and motion. A lingering tiredness hung over him, only occasionally punctuated by bouts of mania. With a grand push he managed to get himself out of his tree house and into the surrounding territory of Wolf Paw lake. Maybe he could get back into the swing of hunting by doing some fishing.
Trotting around the edge of the lake, Tarnish looked for a good fishing spot, pausing when he caught the smell of blood. Oh? What was this? Had he chanced upon a meal? With a grin he shifted course and found a reasonably fresh pronghorn corpse that seemed to belong to a pale, white woman. Well… for now. Tarnish grinned as she turned to go after some coyotes. Seizing the opportunity he bounded forward and grabbed the pronghorn by the neck. Immediately he tried to make off with the kill, snickering to himself as he did so.

Seeing the giant white wolf headed for them the coyotes immediately turned tail and fled. They raced over toward the lake, slowing only when Marrow eased up her pace. She snorted. "That's right, run cowards!" She snarled at them before turning around to head back to her kill. As she neared her heart nearly stopped. A large black male was trying to make off with her food!
Her heart leapt in her chest, her pulse quickening as her mind flooded with memories of food taken from her by her family. She could taste it, the small morsel of deer she'd managed to sneak from the kill only to have her father pin her weak body down and take the food from her. She could see him eating it in front of her even now. "Stop!" Marrow cried out, her voice cracking as a mixture of rage and desperation rocketed through her body, propelling her violently forward.
Marrow leapt for the boy and as he turned his head to see her giving chase she fixated on his face. Fangs lanced forward, upper fangs seeing to land in the middle of his forehead while the lower ones sought his cheek. She wanted to dig her fangs into his flesh and snap her jaws together. She wanted to rip him down to the bone for this crime.

Wendigo's relationship with Marrow had always been a very loose, free wheeling sort. She was his closest friend, the wolf he trusted the most in the world, so he didn't feel the need to keep her relentlessly beneath his gaze. He did, though, feel the need to check in on her once in a while because, well, she was his, and he protected what was his, so he made it a point to pop up once in a while to make sure. Marrow always made life interesting, anyway.
And she did not fail to deliver this time either - as soon as he'd tracked within sight of her, it was to see her throwing herself at another wolf in a fury. Trying, it seemed, to prevent him from making off with a kill. Wendigo didn't know if she was trying to protect the kill or steal it, but he was all in either way, immediately kicking up into a sprint aimed for the other dark male's right side, rearing up slightly to try to slam his slightly-larger frame down on Tarnish's shoulders to try to knock him to the ground, Wendigo's left foreleg seeking to sprawl over to the other side and hook in with his wicked steel claws, right foreleg curling around the front to try to do the same to Tarnish's own left foreleg even as Wendigo aimed an almost identical snap to the opposite side of the young male's face as Marrow. He didn't need to know, nor did he care, why they were attempting to maim the boy - he'd follow Marrow straight to hell for all he cared, and those big fangs were bared under his mask in as much a wicked grin as a snarl while he did.

Pulling his bounty by the neck he almost didn't notice the woman til she screeched at him to stop. Immediately he felt a bolt of anger as she charged toward him. The fuck was her problem? Couldn't take a joke? He dropped the kill, swiftly setting his defenses, and kicking around to face her muscles coiling as he thought about marring her pale, boring physique. Worc screeched out a warning as he saw a massive male charging out of the corner of his eye. Well, fuck!
Tarnish kicked off hard seeking to leap to his left as the larger man tried to slam his upper body down upon him. The movement displaced both opponents attacks but he was warned to late to avoid them entirely. The woman's fangs clipped his right cheek while the man's steel claws cut into the outside of his right shoulder. What a rush! Fear jolted down his spine and was swiftly over come by excitement. Fuck this was thrilling! He'd never fought two opponents before, both intent on tearing him apart.
He darted forward, aiming to race along the woman's right side. His jaws flung open, head twisting toward her as he aiming to bite onto her right knee. He hoped for as deep a hold as he could manage, he wanted to shred the flesh there and cripple the joint. Tarnish also hoped that the maneuver would help place her between him and the man, if only for a moment.

Desperation pushed her wildly forward, but she had enough presence of mind to register her companion's call. The crow had sighted Wendigo. The thief dodged deftly to the side but not before her fangs clipped his cheek, his blood staining her tongue. She quickly skidded to a halt to give Wendigo the room he needed to move, noting her enemy darting along her right side. Snarling she quickly planted her front right leg, seeking to pivot and kick her hind legs behind her so she faced the pirate perpendicularly. Alas, she moved too slow for his fangs snagged her right knee, gaining hold. She yelped in surprise but it quick became a growl as she twisted her head toward his, once again seeking to dig into his face, fangs aiming for his right eye.

Wendigo's long legs carried him in a springing leap clear of the tangle the stranger was trying to put him and Marrow in, aiming to land in front of the blackguard facing him with the right side of his chest in front of the left side of Wendigo's opponent's, in an attempt to arrest his progress. Marrow's pain as the marauding teeth caught her leg set spurs to Wendigo's rage and he twisted, rearing up, to attempt to sink his fangs into the top of Tarnish 's neck behind his ears, right paw rising to try to drag claws across the left side of Tarnish 's face even as his left paw sought to hook the steel claws into the meat above the black wolf's ribs to balance.

Tarnish grinned wickedly as his teeth cut the woman's flesh, staining her white pelt red. She spun toward him and he ducked sharply, her fangs just missing his eye and instead grazing his right cheek. His joy at striking first blood quickly let him as he felt fangs digging into the back of his neck just behind the ears. Tarnish snarled and twisted, seeking left his nearest front paw and slash it up at his attacker, hoping to shred the man's nose. At the same time he let his right legs fold, seeking to roll to the right and maybe dislodge the man as well as prevent his claws from getting hold in his side.
