Lorelai was starting to remember why she left these lands in the first place. I mean honestly, at some point wasn't enough enough? She goes to sleep one dark night, gets shaken around half way to hell and back then wakes up to find this. Should she be surprised? Angry? Or just immensely put out. It would probably have to be a mix of the three until she got her wits more thoroughly about her. She lingered at the edge of the grove of... spikes, and glared inward. None of this was any good at all, the vibes were absolutely rancid, and yet... and yet. Something inside her urged her forward. It had to be genetic, the way she wanted to blunder forward and hope for the best, because if things went poorly (and they almost certainly would,) SHE wasn't going to take even an ounce of personal responsibility. And truthfully, having decided that ahead of time did make things easier. So yes, she was going to explore this little surprise the world had decided to grant them and no, she wasn't going to pretend it was a good idea. Instead she'd call it an undeniable urge so that when she told the story later it would hopefully sound dramatic enough to earn her some free booze, at the very least. A girl could dream anyway, and all she had to do was make it back in one piece. |

Ulmaria didn't get any sleep as the land around her shook to heck and back. Part of her considered leaving her den in case it caved in but something about the thick and eerie darkness made her stay put. Whatever was out there she wanted no part of. Yet as the sun dawned red and cold it became clear that was not an option. Massive stone spikes pierced into the sky very near to Avalon territory.
She skirted around them, trying to figure out what had happened. It was as if the spikes just reared out of the earth during the night, but how? If an earthquake had shaken the ground enough for a bunch of soil to collapse and reveal them that was one thing but how had they emerged so high under seemingly their own power. Further more she couldn't see any trenches or buckling soil to give an answer to this strange geologic event.
Ulmaria picked up a nearby stick and trotted over to one of the spikes when she noticed her sister. She quickly spat it out. "Lorelai! Over here! What do you make of these? Personally, I'm thinking Avalon should move away, far away." Picking up the stick she gave the nearest spire a quick poke.
