Uruk had gone missing. A once fearless and strong leader now nothing but a distant memory. Did this mean he should step up and lead their rebellion? Or take it as a hint that perhaps living life as a loner would be just as good? Except, knowing who Asa and even Nuri were, they would not settle for retreating back to the herd. Not that herd at least. A new herd though? The question is on his mind as he awakes that morning to find an ominous sky. Streaks of bright red paint the sky in a bath of blood. Not an unfamiliar picture, but potentially jarring for some.

"Asa, qy faiihogz adiknoralukug. naaail kukzuik wy lgoyz." His words are gruff as he approaches, speaking to her in their native language so that others wouldn't overhear. Once she agrees, he turns to the west where he can see the spires reaching for the heavens. It doesn't take them long to arrive and he can't deny that he's a bit speechless at the sight. With their temporary home being so close, these would've been noticed sooner.

"zoukk zi oiho naaadx fukzy naayzik?" Xurek questions as his brilliant seafoam green eyes turn to look up at the metal towers of olden times.

While Asa watched the skies, the world seemed to take a breath, as though it was preparing for something big. Something catastrophic. The antlered mare watched the skies with awe as the world changed around her. She could feel the rumbling earth beneath her hooves and could see the sickly shift between the normal sky and one tinged with blood. Red. Red. Red. As red as the blood that they spilled to feed the earth. It left Asa feeling electrified, her skin tingling and twitching as she let her dark imagination roam. What was in store?

Xurek soon approached as she knew he would. The dark woman reached out and pressed her velveteen nose against his shoulder in greeting. Touching wasn't something that she did often, but Asa was excited. His words brought a shiver of excitement rushing through her "ega fagawy ak qaugh wy rebtow" she replied with an excited laugh. She agreed though, that they should investigate.

The pair made their way towards the towering monoliths and, with each step, Asa's excitement grew. Dark nostrils flared as she scented the strange place. As Xurek questioned her about the hulking towers of metal, the mare picked up one hind hoof and gave the spire a firm kick. A lovely groan of metal rumbled through her bones and she turned to the stallion, giving him a smile and a shrug. The bag of bones around her neck danced as she gave another little shudder, then began moving forward towards the bright light once more.

Asa's delight for the unusual is something that he admired in her. He would never voice it out loud, it just wasn't in his nature. Instead, as his muscles tightened beneath his skin at her touch, nostrils flaring as he watched, it took him a moment to relax into it. Superb is one way to put it. Xurek thinks to himself with a soft chuckle and shake of his blocky head.

Knowing that he would follow Asa to the ends of the earth to ensure her protection, he did not hesitate to tread farther into the new territory with her. Even if the bloodbath of a sky gave him an unusual feeling, he pushed it off that he was just not used to it. What made the sky being this color any different than the one it normally was?

When Asa kicks out at a spire, he turns to watch. Even feeling the vibration run up his own legs from the ground. A snort pushes from his nostrils at her giddy nature. "You ask to be smited," Xurek teases though his expression doesn't change.

Xurek chastised her lightly, jokingly, and the mare cackled in return. She turned fiery eyes up to him, a smile lifting the corners. "That would prove that the gods are real and one big mystery would be solved. I would gladly take a smiting for that sort of evidence." With another soft little nicker of amusement, the mare carried on.

Horses were long-lived and so their stories seemed to pass the test of time more easily than other species. She vaguely remembered tales of hairless monkeys that stood taller than the backs of some horses. The faces that seemed to protrude from the towers, were these the same hairless monkeys?

"To the center, shall we?" Asa threw her weight into her hooves, moving towards the middle of the spires at a quick pace. The screaming and wailing seemed to echo all around her. Ah... it was exquisite!

While Asa was more outspoken in her emotions of the goings on around them, Xurek kept it tightly locked away. Even her comment about the gods didn't bring much of a reaction from him. On the inside, he huffed and imagined himself rolling his eyes, but his exterior was cool and void of emotion. There was no use in showing emotion here. Not when there was so much at risk.

Instead, he nodded in agreement to Asa's suggestion of moving inward and followed her at an easy walk. If he were being truthful, he would say he's downright terrified. Not knowing anything was never a good thing. And not being able to find out anything about what was going made it all worse. His own mind turns to the hairless monkeys from stories old as his jade gaze lingers on the carvings.

"Are we sure these are naturally forming?" Xurek finally questions as he pulls up beside Asa.

Xurek spoke and Asa released a soft laugh. "Can anyone ever be completely sure of anything?" Ebony hooves led the mare deeper into the city of spires, each step kicking up a puff of dust. Asa hadn't known fear since she was a foal. It would have been amusing to her to know that her companion was fearful. He was such a big man. What was the point in being afraid? Fear was a childish notion, she felt.

Feeling the shift between soft and hard dirt, the dark lady began pawing at the earth, pulling away at it and leaving furrows in the ground. "I do hope something happens soon or else I very well may get bored." That wouldn't do. Then she would have to make up her own fun. If you were bored, then you were boring.
