When the world did strange, and unusual things it warranted a little investigation. Worry for his home and the wolves in it, Mercury decided to do a little investigating. While putting any wolf in danger was unusable, he did decide to stop by Gwyn’s room and explain what he was doing and why.
Pointing out as he did so, that her incredible knowledge of herbs and the world around them might come in handy. He stressed the dangers of the unknown, and left it up to her if she wished to come or not. Leaving her to decide, he packed a go-bag of some essentials and strapped his sword across his back.

It was far from the first time she had witnessed odd and unsettling occurrences in the world, but this was the first time she had felt brave enough to investigate these phenomena herself. She usually left that work to her brother and trusted him to keep an eye on what was transpiring beyond the castle walls. Spending time with Mercury was slowly building her confidence and to her own surprise when he suggested that her knowledge might be beneficial on his trip to explore the spot that had emerged in Boreas she didn't hesitate to toss her traveling cloak over her back, pinning it together with the silver leaf-shaped broach at her shoulder. After pulling on the bracer that held her dagger on her front leg and tossing on her usual traveling bag of supplies she went to go find Mercury, the blue-hued man preparing his own gear as well as he prepared to leave. "Ready to go?" she asked with a little smile. In truth she still would keep a wide birth from whatever was going on if it wasn't for him, but she'd take the opportunity to spend time with him and see what was going on for herself since he was making the trip.

Gwyn was willing to enter the danger with him, despite not being a fighter herself. It would be his solemn duty to protect her out there, and he intended to do exactly that. He touched the handle of his sword for a second, as if to draw comfort from the cold steel. “I am” He said, smiling at Gwyn, and with that the two of them left the safety of the Armada and journeyed to the strange occurrence.
They arrived under the red glow of the strange sun, and the moment they stepped into the spike-laden territory, an eerie howl lifted through the metal obstacles. “Wind… I believe.” he muttered softly to Gwyn, but he wasn’t entirely sure.

Gwyn followed at Mercury's side as they made their way from Auster into Boreas and eventually found what seemed to be the epicenter of whatever was occurring. Instinctually she shifted closer to his side as they walked, her ears flicking back at the unsettling howling that Mercury uncertainly named the wind. "Yeah... the wind," she agreed, not wanting to even let herself assume that it could possibly be anything else. Her head tipped back to look up toward the top of the tall spires around them, her brows knitting together as she studied the landscape. "It's odd... Terrain like this should have taken years and years to form naturally..." she mused thoughtfully, her eyes tracing the old crags and rocks of the eerie territory. "Far longer than we've been alive at the very least. But this wasn't here before... was it?" She looked to Mercury for an answer to that. She hardly ventured out of the Hallows' lands and certainly hadn't been through Boreas in quite some time. It was very possible that she had never been through this stretch of continent before and just hadn't heard about this place somehow.

Mercury knew she’d have some good insights, and listened to what the healer had to say. He agreed with her, too. Something like this didn’t just form overnight. And yet, all evidence indicated it hadn’t been here before the earthquake. He shook his head at Gwyn. “No, I’ve travelled near here before and I can say this entire place didn’t exist, at least not like this.” He explained. It had been a few years, but he wasn’t about to forget a land like this.
He stepped closer to one of the spires, studying the odd structure for a moment or two, before running a claw across the metal. “The material isn’t natural, either. It’s metal, forged.”
