She had come north in search of something to deter the bugs that had taken up residence in the bamboo with the colder weather. Making it as far as fern gulley, she had decided to bunk down for the night, or at least, until the shaking of the earth roused her from her slumber.
She supposed her lower centre of gravity helped her for once as she clung to the earth through the quaking night. When the sun finally rose, it was with a sickly red-hue and she scowled at the sky, supposing that since she was already here, she should check out what was going on so she could report to Tori when she got home.
The sight that met her eyes was otherworldly beneath the red glow of the strange sun. Fear ran a cold clawed hand down her spine, a shiver racking her frame... like someone just walked over her grave.

It was strange, the low rumbling of the ground, it had roused him from his sleep and had him looking about, listening and…squinting? Even at night it was rarely this dark, this unnervingly still. The earth shook, trembling with the deep baritone growl it made and Lathan rose to his paws. Ears pricked forward and then fell back, frowning. Silver gaze lifted up to the sky, the stars were darker, the moon, so dim. He began moving, unknown to him, he moved right towards the center of…whatever was going on. As morning crested the horizon, he would grow still, his hackles rising as a sensation rolled down his spine. This was…unusual. The sky was blood red, not as it normally was as the sun rose. No, this was different, it cast a different hue on the ground. A hue he was both drawn to and repulsed by. Tongue rolled nervously over his lips as he continued forward. It wasn’t long before he realized he was not alone. A wolf- nay, correction a tiny wolf was not far to his right. He regarded her, his smoky colored pelt looking far darker and richer in the reddened light. "Excuse me, miss!" He called, voice rising enough to reach her as he turned towards the she-wolf. As he approached, he noted the horns upon her skull and his head cocked to the side curiously. That was…unique. "Do you know…?" He trailed, gesturing around them. Maybe she knew what was going on? Her sure didn’t. |

When the voice called out, Fuji swung her heavy head in his direction, honey-hued eyes meeting amber beneath the otherworldly red-tinted sky. She took him in, tall and dark, slashed with pale points, much like her mother's people. Fuji spared him a grin around her sabre like fangs.
Her tongue pressed against the roof of her mouth, trying to remember how to make the common shapes, over the Japanese they wielded within the bamboo. She did hope he wouldn't mistake her delay for rudeness. "Yer can call me Fuji," she shrugged her shoulders, her mothers tongue coming back to her finally. "Can't say I've ever seen these before, and the shaking last night..." She shook her head. "I only came this way to collect supplies, I live far to the south, rarely leave home. Startin' ter regret leavin' this time, if I'm honest." Her smile was bright, punctuated with a dark chuckle.
Her gaze narrowed on some upturned soil. "Looks like we aren't th' only curious ones though..."
