Coran descended down the Redwater Rocks, settling in at the base of the large rock formation. Nearby he could see the border to the Vericona Plains. The old homeland that was no longer theirs. He could see the wall his family had built and the green fields stretching out to the horizon. He questioned whether or not they'd ever return but perhaps it was for the best. His family had been tied to this territory long enough, it was time for them to branch out, to find new lands to add their unique touch to. Now with his strength regained Coran debated reigniting his plan to form a band. A home for his family as well as those that needed a place to call home while they looked for their forever home. He settled down to think and muse in the warm summer weather, unaware a shadow was stalking him.
Tarnish meandered on his border patrol as he often did. Not the most disciplined of wolves he rarely was straightforward in keeping an eye on the border. Often he was distracted by the scents of prey or the lull of a warm afternoon nap. Today he strayed from the border of the Raiders Hollow toward the Redwater Rocks. It was a neat formation, one he'd climbed a few times. He didn't have the time today but he hoped to do a quick scouting to see if he caught the scent of bighorn sheep but instead he caught the scent of another wolf. Tarnish's eyes narrowed.
Technically the stranger was far enough from the border to not be an issue but Tarnish was in one of those moods and itching for a fight. He stalked along the rocks, following the scent to see a male staring out at the Raiders border. Well that was going to do. With a wicked grin he set his defenses, his limbs coiling beneath him before he sprang forward, seeking to tackle the man from the back. Tarnish attempted to slam his chest into the man's shoulders, his upper fangs sought to land in the middle of the top of the man's head, his lower fangs farther down the back. Tarnish wanted to dig his fangs in and snap his jaws together in a brutal attack meant to shred flesh to the bone.

Coran was lost in thought, so much so that he almost didn't hear the approach of his attacker. He had barely any time to react, no time to think, everything was on autopilot. His head ducked down, upper body crumbling to the ground as he felt something heading toward him. In doing so he was able to avoid the brunt of the attack though the yearling's lower fangs cut along the top of his head, tearing moderate lacerations and spilling his blood. The boy's chest slammed into his back, the weight pressing him down into the warm dirt.
Coran kicked off hard, his legs bunched beneath him as he twisted his body, seeking to throw the youth off his back like a bucking bronco. In addition his jaws launched upward seeking to grab the right side of the boy's face and give the attacker a taste of his own medicine for such a gutless attack on another while their back was turned.
