If I die young, bury me in satin

Paws were still carrying the girl away from Covari, and it was a while until she stopped. It was dark, but Hestia could see something ahead of her, and lunged, wincing as something dug into her paw. Her right paw, the only white one. Light blue eyes narrowed as the girl held up her paw, and watched as blood flowed from a wound. In the middle of her paw was a briar. With white fangs, Hestia latched onto the briar, and pulled it out, making her paw bleed even more. Within a few minutes, though, it stopped, and Hestia placed her paw on the ground. Even if she would get scratched up, this giant briar hedge was her best bet, so the girl edged inside, wincing in pain. At one point, she found a small bat, a huge briar in his wing, the thin flesh slight scarred and bloody. With unusual kindness, Hestia pulled the briar out, and the bat pulled itself on her back, pushing his rounded nose into her fur. "I do not deserve to be rescued by one as graceful as you, my queen. I will do whatever you ask me to." He said, and Hestia pulled her head away. Queen? Graceful? Hestia wasn't sure what this bat was trying to do, but she liked it. With a small smile, Hestia finally spoke. "If you see any wolves, alert me right away. If you're ever able to fly, of course." She said, and the bat nodded. "Of course, my queen." He pulled his nose out of her fur and smiled, showing sharp, pointed teeth. Hestia winced.
"What kind of bat are you anyway, and what's your name?" She finally asked, and the bat watched her. "I am a vampire bat, my queen. And I am called Little Steve, although you can call me anything." Hestia smiled, and looked at her little vampire bat friend. "I think I'll just call you Little Steve. Also, would you be my pe....Companion?" She asked, and Little Steve nodded. "Of course, my queen."
