The Unraveling - It Creeps
In the thick woods surrounding the abandoned resort on The Forgotten Isle, something ominous begins to stir...
A massive creature emerges from the ground, following a series of tremors. Its four-petaled chitinous head sports eight different eyes, each with multiple pupils, set around a mouth with sharp fangs. Its body is lined with iridescent blue-green scales that glimmer brightly under the sun's rays,
Its head is lined with strange appendages that thrash about and curl outward, tipped with barbed claws; a mess of vines dangle down from these four appendages. Its strange sharp claws help drag itself along, clawing and scrambling over dirt and undergrowth as it travels toward the edge of the island....
Danger is imminent! Posting in this thread can cause minor or moderate injuries, up to minor/moderate maims, or other bad, temporary effects to characters. Only one character per player; characters involved in the other worm fight threads cannot attend.

A big commotion sent the island birds screeching and taking to the skies. Star had come here to investigate this island and all of its strange wonders. The various buildings were terribly interesting and she'd found many neat items that she would consider taking with her if she was a collector and had a pack. Alas...
After a while of exploring the island compound and it's vast array of different rooms, Star had become hungry. Fast as she was, it was an easy feat to catch one of the island rabbits. It was as the striped fae was going to find a place to settle down and eat that she saw the odd, hulking worm dragging itself across the sandy island. Was it really a worm?
Ears tilted backwards for a moment blue eyes locked on the creature before Starchild adopted a submissive stance. This big thing could massacre her easily. She offered the freshly killed rabbit, there would always be more, and gingerly stepped backwards, putting distance between herself and the creature, but keeping her gaze upon it.
Starchild has mild Haphephobia, so please don't touch her unless you know her very well and she gives permission.
She is always accompanied by a peregrine falcon named Merlin and a very nasty Tasmanian devil named Dundee who will bite you.

What the hell was going on? Everything was happening so damned fast. And now, he felt tremors under the brutes paws. Ears pinned in confusion - first to show. He made his way down over the deteriorating steps of the place him and those stayed within. Bright icy blue eyes look in amazement at this creature. But something screamed danger too him. Vayne had to protect his family though. He stayed to the shadows, silently. Although hackles rose along his spinal region as he kept his gaze locked on this different looking creature. Birds scattered to the skies. A quick shake of his head as he looked the worm thing over. Where the hell had it come from? Why here and why now?!

Laniatus had begun his trek to find his father not long ago. Their birds had been used for communication thus far, but Lani's stupid birds had flown away. Off to do whatever crap birds did when they abandoned their master. He knew eventually they would find their way back to him, but for now, he was companionless and trying to find his father. Lani's muscular form moved confidently as he searched a new island, he didn't believe his father to be hiding away here but he had been curious nonetheless. His nares widened as he caught the scent of something peculiar. He snuck up behind what was causing the scent, and that's when he saw the odd-looking creature. His eyebrows furrowed at the sight of the green mass, and he wondered if these things were normal here. And if they were why had his father not told him of this? Either way, he is sneaking up behind it, a silent snarl on his face. He looks at the odd creature, noting the odd mix of traits. He decided to launch himself at its back was the best course of action yes. So he did just that, aiming to dig sharp canines into its back neck?? He wasn't quite sure what the hell this thing's body parts were called, but what he did know was he would try to stay well out of the way of its claws. They reminded him of a scorpion, and if they proved to be lethal, he would NOT like to be the one to find out. However, if they could prove useful to his father, maybe after this thing was dead and gone he would take one to him. Not to make his father proud of him no, but simply because any use he could be for Set was better for him. Snapping free from his thoughts, he would attempt to anchor himself into the creature's back with his nails. And then no matter if he had or hadn't gotten his original grip, he would attempt to tear through its scales. Eager to spread its gore along the forest floor and himself. |

From their bedroom loft Azriel had visual on the majority of the island. Could see the form of a Vayne as he moved off, had eyes on the form of a black and white fae. But the thing that had his full attention wasn't that. It was the throng of birds and the earth quaking. A sign from their gods perhaps?
A look to his new companion and Atreyu before he moved from their room. Massive paws race, churning with his speed. A narrowing of his gaze. And then with less speed then Vayne he is upon the scene. A gaze cast upon the worm. A magnificent beast by all standards. the fae he had seen offering it a rabbit. His quills stood and he locked his gaze on Vayne before back to the worm. The zealot in him told him it was a sign, a test from their gods. But what for? "Stay vigilant Vayne! Its a sign from Kiska..." Just as he spoke another came and was attacking it! Shit! The idiot.
A snarl rose from the zealot. "Do not! It is a sign from the gods! You will anger them!" His eyes narrowed but he expected his demigod's might would stop the other. A lash of his tail as he stood back, watching and waiting. Only the gods could make suh a being and he wouldn't be destroying their creation if he wasn't ordered to. He moved to stand beside Vayne and placed himself between the worm and him.

Cerberus had come to his old home in a scouting mission for his new home. And the memories it brought back walking along the shores, in the old common areas that were mostly abandoned now. Cerberus seemed to be going down some dark hole as he aged, but it had nothing to do with aging really. Everyone had their walk in life, he just felt like his was drastically slowing down and well, he wasn't getting any younger.
A slight foreign commotion he could hear rattling around the old resort of the island, and it took him some time to pin point through the vines and buildings the creature beyond. He turned to face the sight from far away, a baffled squint as he tried to make out what he was seeing. Something he had never encountered before. It was easier to turn and run, he wasn't much the curious type especially for something that seemed to be such an illusion. But he saw some other wolves running around in the area as the grassy beast started to tussle around through the grounds and well, he was quite the hero wasn't he. Always thinking of others.
Sprinting into the action, Cerberus stopped a fair distance away from the creature, definitely not jumping in the fray at first glance. Some of these idiots however... He did at least put himself between the worm and the small woman who was backing away from the scene. A young one being a little more logical by watching and waiting, or at least keeping himself out of danger's way. And then an older male that flew in looking for the fight. The creature would surely be angry now Cerb thought, but he still kept his defensive stance, ready to move out of the way had the worm thrashed around. He was willing to jump into the fight when it was necessary, but right now he needed more information on how this creature behaved.

Shit was happening all over the place, however nothing had happened too close to the woods. Until now. With intentions to claim the island in the future, Widow often scouted it and made sure she knew where every rock and leaf laid. Today was no different, but the last time she had been here had been long before she fell morbidly pregnant. Unable to journey from Austers mainland to the island without surely sinking, now that her pups were old enough to venture outside the den and kept a close eye on by the others, Widow treated today as if nothing had changed, as if there wasn't weird shit happening all around.
However, it was clear that many things changed. Immediately she noticed the fresh scents and tracks of others, eagerly following them to see what had brought so many here all of a sudden. Maybe she had missed out on something, but if something was happening would her birds not have already told her? They flew above her today, however something was clearly off. They circled and cawed ahead of her, sounded panicked and questioning. Widow quickened the pace until she saw the gathering of others... and something dragging itself along the ground.
What the fuck was that thing?
Widow briefly kept her distance, watching, wondering what the actual fuck. For a moment she considered getting no closer, she had children after all... but those children were the exact reason she broke the distance between herself and the crowd. Others had already begun to attack and Widow was no different. Approaching from the side, she reached to sink fangs into the side of the creature and hoped to tear open a gash while watching for those extra appendages in case one came at her.

It was with great disdain that Idris rose from his slumbering position. Nestled deep in the shadows of the thick jungle to sleep the day away, it would be safe to say he was not pleased to be awoken. The deep rumbling of the ground and noises of something large tearing through vine and tree had not bothering him at first. No. It wasn’t until the ruckus of wolves snarling and yelling did he begin to snarl as well. Why the fuck was everyone being so NOISY?
Prowling through the dense underbrush with intent and disgruntlement, he doesn’t slow until the creature comes into view. Pulling up short, Idris eyes the worm… beetle… monster from the shadows. His sensitive eyes blink against the bright shafts of light that peek down from the canopy. The beast was heading somewhere from how it clawed at the ground and trunks as if needing assistance to move.
Pale eyes look and notice that it is heading toward the shore. Why? Concern lances through him. Would the water do something terrible to this awoken monstrosity? Idris moves his gaze back to the creature, fighting to roll his eyes at the two wolves stupid enough to take on such a behemoth. Did they have a death wish? Clearly.
Looking at the rest of the group, he watches. They all appear too frightened to do anything, but something had to be done. Quickly slinking toward the two Judilan band members and then toward the rustic and obsidian wolf standing near the ivory and obsidian girl, Idris hovers close enough to speak. “We need to stop it from making it to wherever it is headed,” his deep tenor breaks the stare of silent awe.
“If we all stand before the beast, without infuriating it, maybe we can corral it somewhere else,” Idris suggests, but doesn’t finish. Where that somewhere else is, he doesn’t know yet, but maybe one of them has an idea. Where they’re on board or not, the lanky wolf moves to stand before the beast with just enough room that the weird looking tendrils shouldn’t at least flay him alive. Setting a defensive stance, he hopes to deter the beast from its original path.

She had seen the world changing, too fast for her liking, she felt as if she had blinked and missed something. From her position in their room, Atreyu did not have the bird's eye view that Azriel kept on their surroundings. Perhaps she should have kept a better eye on things herself, but she trusted her betrothed to do so as she rested for a bit. That was when the tremor hit, and Atreyu was quickly on her paws with a look over to Azriel. They wasted no time in their decent to the beach, Atreyu only a step behind Azriel before halting altogether when her eyes landed on the only probable cause for the tremors. She almost didn't see those gathered on the beach with them, only the massive worm-like creature that had seemingly come from nowhere. Quickly making her way over to Vayne, she watched on as a couple of rash wolves rushed in to attack the creature. Azriel seeming to believe it was a sign from their gods, did not wish to anger it. Atreyu didn't want to make the dangerous looking creature angry either, but it was probably too late for that with other wolves already attacking.
"Try not to make any moves against it unless you have to defend yourself. These others are far too rash." Atreyu said to both Vayne and Azriel, holographic eyes flitting to one of the strangers who suggested they should corral it. That may not be such a bad idea, and with a motion to her family, Atreyu moved to stand beside the pale wolf with a nod. "How do you suppose we stop it should it decide to go through us?" Despite the urgency in her voice, Atreyu was surprisingly calm in the face of this giant, nosing through her satchel until she found her blade. She armed herself and faced the monster, spotted tail lashing behind her, looking first to the stranger then to Vayne and Azriel. They couldn't let the worm get to the water, something told her that would not end well for anyone.

Spriggan didn’t often leave the Hallows alone, but since befriending her unicorn companion that had become much more common. The little albino mule, that might as well have been a unicorn with his iridescent mother of pearl horn and long lion like tail. He also had the sweetest, softest long ears. The tiny girl adored petting them, and the equine seemed to enjoy her doing so just as much. She was upon his back now, enjoying the ride as they explored the forgotten island.
Austerian spring was here, and Spriggan was fully enjoying the warming weather. Her plants were as well, the mushrooms that grew out of her body were throwing out new fruits as much as the moss on her back was blooming new flowers. Even her ferns had little sprigs on them. Everything was coming back to life.
Still, the sun was an odd red darkness over the sky, and if it would just clear and bring back the brilliant sky she knew the land would be twice as bountiful. She sighed before the commotion hit her. The little donkey carried her closer to where there were wolves gathering and Spriggan’s mouth fell open. The massive plant before them was moving She wasn’t the only creature that was (practically) a sentient plant!
