Vine had stuck pretty close to home her entire life really. She was quite the adventurous spirit, but since her mother's passing it was hard for her to really pick herself back up again. It was a way of life she supposed, she wouldn't be completely immobile by it. She knew she just needed some time to be home with family and grieve. She liked to believe Twig was following her in spirit, and maybe that helped keep her uplifted. Her mother lived a full and happy life, that was something to celebrate.
A paw gently brushed across the flowered feather trinket braided behind her ear before she made her way out of Avalon. She didn't really have a plan for the day, just a little scouting trip in the surrounding lands of Avalon. She had gone to the knolls tons of times, but somehow she had missed this cavern that was just next door to the pack. Easily enough, her curiosity got the best of her and she was tiptoeing inside.
Vine was a rather confident girl. She could be careful, but she definitely didn't think of anything deep and dark in the cave even though that's the way it was turning the farther she stepped inside. It wasn't long before she spotted the glow among the walls and ceiling that more caught her attention, at least she had a destination in mind now.

Ren would have been lying to himself if he said he was anything but lost since Ashen had fallen. He had no duties, no expectations, and no future. His family had been scattered to the winds. He supposed that he had grown up much like his own mother, but now he was following much more heavily in his father’s pawsteps. Much like his name would suggest. However, that didn’t mean he had gone so far from where Ashen used to be.
He lingered in the west with Revolver and Minerva, building up his collection of herbs and actually starting a garden. He couldn’t help but make a home base. Autumn was falling over them now and there were less plants to gather, so he made his way to the mushroom caverns. He couldn’t be certain there would be any mushrooms he wished to harvest but he knew that Salvia grew here. A mildly hallucinogenic herb that was somewhat rare.
His pale paws entered the caverns, noticing swiftly that he was not alone here. His ears perked and silvery eyes found the feminine form of a stranger. She didn’t look to be searching for plants like he was. "Sorry to intrude.” He offered simply as Rev slunk around him and Minerva found a perch outside to wait for them.

She couldn't lie she was a bit startled as the boy had seemingly come out of nowhere though in a place like this what else was to be expected. Vine's fur bristled at first from the surprise, but she was quick to settle as he seemed to be rather kind. Maybe too quick an assumption to make, but she wasn't the most cautious when it came to meeting strangers. Maybe just a lifetime and not meeting the wrong wolves. She had life pretty simple.
"Oh, it's alright." Her voice soft in the caves between them. She squinted lightly at him, trying to make him out in the darkness of the caves but he was rather light like herself. So it wasn't too difficult. She was earthy though, so probably blended in with the walls a little more than he did. "It looks like there's a little more light this way." She commented, before turning to lift a paw in the direction of the lightly pulsing light a few strides away. "My name's Vine by the way." Would be a good idea to introduce herself, while they were two strangers in a cave.

The light was well past dim, but even as he spoke Ren could see the way the girl’s fur bristled as he startled her. However, just as quick as she had startled she relaxed, returning to her former task. Ren’s vibrant gaze swept over her and did another look around for the plant he needed. Well, needed was a strong word. The plant he wanted.
Renegade, like his predecessors, was nocturnal and quite used to the dim light here in the caverns, but she seemed uncomfortable. It was unlikely that Ren would find the salvia this deep underground anyway so he nodded and followed her further up. She introduced herself as they meandered into the light. Right where Ren predicted they would find the salvia.
"That’s a pretty name.” He commented first, being a wolf who made his identity around plant life. "I’m Renegade.” He went on before he surged forward, catching sight of the long stemmed plant he was searching for. "Sorry, I’ve been looking for this.” He explained off handedly.

To say she felt a little flattered was an understatement. She had been living at home for too long. Someone else, a boy in fact telling her she had a pretty name made a little flutter in her chest she didn't know existed. Though she did only just meet him a moment ago, she wouldn't go pining for him. That was silly.
As they made their way further into the cavern, he would spot what he had come inside for. After all, meeting someone inside the cave was probably second to none so he may have had more of a plan than just scouting it out. It seemed easy to get turned around in here anyways.
As he found the plant he seemed to be after, Vine grew closer to what he was pointing out, "What is it?" She had dabbled some knowledge into different subjects including herbs, but there was always more to learn. This would be no different.

Renegade didn’t mean anything by the compliment beyond telling her his opinion, he really did think her name was pretty. Though he just met her he had to admit that all of her was pretty. Far from an ugly little she wolf he stumbled across. He gave her a little grin as he hurried ahead towards the plants that he had been searching for.
She seemed curious and followed after him as he beheld the salvia plant. It was pretty much a sage plant, but this was the hallucinogenic type. He began carefully harvesting some of the leaves as the sweet girl sidled up beside him and asked what it was he had found here. "This is salvia, or depending on who you’re talking to, sage.” He told her, careful not to pull too many leaves from each stem. "Some wolves use it to cook, but I personally enjoy the hallucinogenic effects.” He explained to her easily. "I assume since you don’t recognize it, you’ve never tried?”

Vine was far from uninterested in the information the boy had to offer. But she was also a little modest when it came to asking the tough questions. Easy questions? She really had no idea what he meant by hallucinogenic. She wasn't dumb, she could assume. But she had never experienced something like that before.
"Oh, no I haven't." Was all she could comment. She never gave herself the chance to make friends, but she didn't want to make a fool of herself. It was probably silly from an outsider looking in, but she'd play it cool. If this boy Renegade was offering something fun, then how bad could it be? She wouldn't back down. Though she didn't really know what she was up against.

He wasn’t sure what she thought about what he said, though the Kleins were often hard to read Vine seemed even more so. Ren tilted his head curiously as she pondered his question, a little smile playing on his features. As he suspected though, the girl had not ever tried the herb he was working on gathering. He only used it sparingly, the trip was intense to say the least.
"Well, would you like to?” He asked curiously, though he didn’t wait for an answer before he stood up and aimed to lead her outside. "We’ll need to inhale the smoke of it, I don’t know if you know how to make a fire?” He asked as he began the task, realizing that his ocelot Revolver had already starting working on that.
