and his skin was that of glittering diamond
Claws clicked upon the cool stone underfoot, the sound echoing from the stalactites that hung all around and created the illusion of dozens of approaching paws. Accompanied by the soft jingling of metal bracelets and beads, it was abundantly clear that someone was wandering these ancient catacombs. Despite the dimness of the setting, he knew the cavern was enormous. Could see the dance of shadows on an endless sea of stone pillars, hear the whisper of flowing water nearby. This place was brimming with energy that begged to be noticed. It was only when the flowing water became visible, and the well worn boards of a wooden bridge across it softened the sound of his steps, that the curious mystic paused. Craned delicate crown upwards to take it all in. The stone monolith of a primeval stone column seemed to serve as the focal point of the arrangement. As it grew, this feature must have known the histories of civilization and history long since forgotten by the world. All the while entombed in these glimmering caverns, holding the knowledge safe under each new layer of its growing stone carapace. Awed by the might of this geological sentinel, the dainty witch slipped carefully between the rows of gypsum spectators. Drawn as a moth would helplessly flutter to open flame. It was so rare to encounter entities that existed as open channels to the magic of the world, ones which were shrines in and of themselves. Glimmering golden eyes lifted towards the apex of the immense column, seeking the crown of this primordial creation. It was enclosed in an overhanging cluster of protective stalactites, obscuring the exact height of the behemoth. It mattered little, at the end of the day. The willowy wolf dropped his head low between his shoulders, nose nearly brushing the floor as he payed his mute respect to this awe inspiring geological marvel. Haunches folded delicately beneath himself, tail curling loosely around one hip. Tall ears flicked one way and the next as he sunk into a fitful meditation, taking in the scents and sounds and sensations of the underground cathedral. |
