Striking out on her own had been a mistake. Selkie had fallen short. Well and truly short of her goals. Finding the rest of her siblings, finding somewhere else to make a name for herself, get her feet under her, do anything on her own... none of it. The girl hadn't made any of it happen. All of this, and she's right back where she started. A cold pit in her stomach, and it was only growing colder.
Cold. All of her is cold, as she pulls herself from the sea on her sister's doorstep. Shaking with the chill of coming winter, though temperatures hadn't dropped that far yet. Selkie is a rough sight to behold, sorry to say. Shivering, teeth chattering, the girl lets loose a call for Scylla. If she's lucky, there will be a place for her here.

Wolves were showing up left and right, flocking to Obscura and filling their ranks. Scylla was glad that the majority of them were family. That was why she'd taken a pack to begin with, to reforge the Klein empire and craft a home for those of her own blood. So, when Selkie called from the border, Scylla was more than happy to go collect her sister.
What Scylla didn't expect was that Selkie had actually washed up on the border. The younger wolf was waterlogged, sand and sea grass stuck to her coat. Brows furrowed as the cobalt and cream woman moved towards her sister. "Selkie, what the hell?" Sinking her teeth into the back of her siblings neck, Scylla pulled Selkie further away from the waters edge. She was weak and possibly injured and would be an easy meal for one of the big snakes or one of the crocodiles that frequented the waters between the mangroves.
Once she pulled her back far enough, Scylla curled herself, long tail included, around her sister, seeking to share her warmth enough so that Selkie's teeth would stop chattering. "What happened?" She asked, concern in tones that were usually playful and carefree.

No sooner does Scylla arrive, then Selkie hurls herself at her older sister. Trembling, shaking, clinging. A child, no more than a child who's been away from home for too long. Far, far away from home, and family, and safety. It's the first shred of relief that's come in months. Really, it's all Selkie can do to keep herself from crying as she sinks into her sister.
"I couldn't see daddy so sick, I had to go away." Trying to steady herself, though her voice is small. A girl who realized the world was far too large for her, and learned the hard way. "I went looking for any of our siblings, and just... I got lost. Lost, alone, I--" her voice cracks, the girl folding in on herself. "I couldn't do it, Scylla. I couldn't be something by myself." Defeated, her voice growing small. Stealing her sister's body heat, it's enough to chase the cold from her bones. Sodden and defeated, the girl just needs to be home.

Selkie melted into her and Scylla held her close, curling herself around the younger girl even more. Her sister explained where she'd been and what her fears had been. Scylla couldn't imagine being so emotionally aligned, but she didn't hold it against her sibling for being that way. Not everyone could be as controlled as she was. Differences were what made the world go 'round, you know.
One nimble paw gently stroked her sister's back in soothing motions. Scylla's cheek was pressed against the top of Selkie's damp head. She didn't mind at all that she was getting went. One could always get dry. "Chimera is fine," she informed Selkie. Had she ever called Chimera "dad" or "father?" "He and your mother are living here in Obscura." She gave her sister a squeeze. "Many of our siblings are here as well."
Scylla pulled back just enough so that her mismatched gaze could meet those of her sister. "You've come home," she informed her. "Your family is here. You're welcome to stay with us." It was Selkie's choice. If she still felt the need to seek out other siblings, Scylla wouldn't force her to stay. If she wanted this to be her home, however, she was more than welcome to it.

Ruled by emotion, at least for now. Selkie is sorry that she's like this, but for now, she can't help it. Teenagers, man. Leaning hard into Scylla's shoulder, trying to keep herself together. The news that her father was alive, and mom was here too-- Selkie is nearly on the verge of tears, looking up into her sister's face. Everything was okay, they were going to be a family again, and they're going to be together.
One ragged breath, then another. "I'm staying. If I can't be something on my own, I can be something here, with you." There's a quiet resolve in her voice, small as it is. Tucked in close to Scylla's side, she wouldn't be going again.

Selkie agreed to stay and Scylla grinned, never ceasing the embrace to her younger sibling. "Wise choice," she agreed. "Come on, let's get you cleaned up." With a final pat to Selkie, the Sovereign led her sister through the territory and towards the dens. She'd had one converted to a bathing chamber, complete with fire warmed water in a big stone and clay tub.
Scylla gathered different soaps and oils and whatever else she imagined Selkie might like and placed them on a little wooden table beside the tub. "Take your time, wash away your travels. I'll be right over here." Scylla then moved a short ways off and settled down on a pile of comfortable furs. A yawn pulled from her as she nestled into the plush bed. "Drying furs are on the other side," she motioned with one paw. A quiet word was given to Woobie and he meandered off through the den's doorway to carry out his lady's task.
