Alaric was patrolling through the Aspen forest once more, his cane corsos Maul and Cinder were right behind him. That's when a familiar scent entered his nose. Oath, the priest of the band. He had last seen him at the band meeting and the funeral of Vayne. Alaric had ignored the rainbow spotted male's sermons altogether, seeing them as pointless and irritating. Alaric followed the scent, motioning Maul and Cinder to follow. When Oath was in sight, Alaric cleared his throat and dipped his head in some respect towards the horned wolf. "It's a good day today." He stated, trying to make small talk. "It'd be a good day to get a spar or some training in." He rolled his shoulders forwards in a stretch.

Oath paused mid-step, his cyan eyes flicking toward Alaric and his Cane Corsos. The older wolf's presence brought a mix of curiosity and tension; Alaric was not one to mince words or tolerate what he deemed frivolous. Oath dipped his head respectfully, his red horns catching the sunlight.

“A good day indeed,” he replied, his voice calm yet tinged with an eagerness he couldn’t quite mask. “A spar would be welcome, though I can’t promise to match your strength.” His lips quirked in a faint smile, his posture shifting into defensive readiness. “But testing one’s limits is always enlightening, don’t you think?” He motioned toward an open clearing ahead. “Shall we see what today’s lessons hold, Alaric?”

Alaric listened as Oath spoke and motioned towards clearing. "Indeed we shall." He nodded and moved his way over towards the clearing. "No companions, if you prefer." He stated, raising a eyebrow. He shot a glance over to Maul and Cinder, who understood and stayed a respectful distance away from the pair of wolves.

Alaric readied his defenses. His chin tucked fo protect his vitals, his legs widened slightly for balance. His tail rose a long straight with his spine for better balance. He drew a breath and looked to Oath. "I'll begin." He said, taking his turn. Usually, he would let the other party start but today he felt a bit different.

Within instant, Alaric bored down on the rainbow colored wolf. His black maws parted, exposing his long white fangs, as he attempted to latch them down around the side of the neck of Oath. While doing his, he simultaneously attempted to wrap his forearms around the man's neck for better control.

Oath nodded in agreement to Alaric's terms, giving a wink to his Cane Corsos that said 'maybe next time'. Oath’s eyes narrowed as Alaric charged, the older wolf moving with precision and intent. Oath’s instincts kicked in, and he sidestepped swiftly, feeling the air shift where Alaric’s fangs narrowly missed his neck. He dropped his shoulder, pushing against the motion to create space and keep Alaric’s forearms from fully locking around him.

Planting his paws firmly, Oath twisted his body and lashed out with his hind leg in a sweeping kick, aiming to catch Alaric off balance. His cyan eyes glinted with determination, his movements calculated but less refined than the seasoned warrior’s. “Fast start,” Oath commented, his tone even but edged with the thrill of the spar. “Let’s see how long I can keep up.”

Alaric's fangs clamped down on air as his attack has missed. His forearms failed to wrap around Oath as the male seemed to turn his body around completely. Alaric saw what was coming next, a swift kick to knock him down. He took steps out of the line of fire from the kick, avoiding it from kicking him down, waiting until the leg was right in front of him before attempting to latch onto the leg at the heel. He wouldn't bite down hard on the leg, as this was a spar and Oath was a bandmate. He didn't want to immobilize the rainbow colored wolf, only show the male that if he wanted to...he could. He had no words for Oath, as he was focused on the spar at hand.

Instead of pulling away in panic, Oath shifted his weight forward, using the momentum to pivot his upper body. His horns angled toward Alaric in a feigned charge, not meant to connect but to force his opponent to release his hold or brace for impact. “Not bad,” Oath remarked through gritted teeth, his tone strained but steady. He was learning quickly that Alaric’s skill lay not just in strength, but in strategy.

Alaric's maws had clamped down around the heel of Oath successfully. He gave a tight squeeze, watching the rainbow spotted man carefully for his next move. A bluff charge with his horns? Oath'd have to do better than that. Alaric's stance remained firm, he knew he had the advantage. He could easily break the leg if he wanted to, quickly, before Oath'd horns could touch him. But he didn't. That wasn't his goal. He raised an eyebrow, his words muffled by the leg. "Had enough?" He asked the male wolf before letting the leg go. He respectfully nodded to the male before speaking again. "A good fight." He commented briefly. "You did well."
