Buzzing. Practically fucking buzzing. Davey can feel himself getting taller, stronger, more dangerous by the day. Everything in him is becoming everything he'll be someday, and that's so fucking rad. Frankly, he's feeling rad as hell and more than rad as hell, as he arrives on the battlefield. This time, he'd left Wake in the dust. He's doing this his way, no supervision required.

Methodical. Processional. Tipping his head back and calling for an opponent, pacing excitedly. Everything about the boy is alight. On fire. Fucking ready. Yeah, he's ready to go. Gunning for something bigger and brighter and better, and for a new opponent. Game on, mother fuckers. There's no time like the present, after all.

Try as they might to shield young Astaroth from the horrors of the world, her mothers simply can't keep everything from her. Something has happened, something terrible- it's obvious in their very demeanors, in the concise and careful way they carry themselves these days. Astaroth doesn't quite understand it, but she knows she wants to be strong, to protect them, to protect all her siblings. Because of Abraxas, and for Abraxas. In the light of so much uncertainty, in growing older and seeing just how much there is to learn and experience, Astaroth starts to cling more tightly to the faith that has been instilled in her.

With Abraxas on her side, she knows she can do anything.

Happy to push her boundaries more and more with each day that passes, she heads further north than ever before. These plains aren't so different from the fields back home, familiar enough that she didn't feel wildly out of her element here. Well, at least mostly. The scent of bloodshed was strong here, clinging metallic to the inside of her nose as her gaze roved over her surroundings.

The sound of another young wolf calling out catches her attention. Astaroth is cautious as she creeps along, quiet on her paws as the slightly older boy comes into view. A slow nod is offered as she approaches. "You're looking for a spar? Just for practice, right?" Waiting for his approval, she settled back into a more defensive stance, muscles coiled and ready as she prepared herself for what could come.

The horrors! Davey is the horrors! Not a wolf, not a dog, a secret third thing. Secret, third, immaculate. All excitement and shining, horrible light blooming within him already. This one is going to be a hot fucking mess, just you wait. Just you all wait. Brilliant and flexing, he fidgets with his axe as he waits.

It's not a long wait. A girl, younger but not too young to be out here. "Yeah, yeah just for practice. I won't try to split your skull with my axe or nothin." Davey's gaze is earnest, even if his words are unsettling.

He comes to life, springing at the younger girl as her defenses set. Swinging with the broad side of his axe, telegraphing his charge pretty easily... is he going easy on her? Yeah, but it's practice. Maybe Davey is a little on the tired side today.

With her experience outside of Avalon and her immediate family so minimal, she isn't quite sure what to make of Davey. He seems strange to her for reasons she can't quite wrap her head around, from his floppy ears to his more wiry frame. Everyone not following in the light of Abraxas seems strange to her though. And she doesn't care for things being different, not really, not when everything in her life is so orderly and predictable. But stepping outside of her comfort zone is a necessary evil, especially if she wants to become a strong warrior like her Mother.

Confident from the jump, she can't help but feel some of that sureness trickle away at Davey's words. Splitting her skull with an axe? She wasn't sure she needed the reassurance, but having it somehow felt worse than not bringing it up at all. Trying not to fixate on the possibility for too long, knowing she'd be in worlds of trouble if she retreated home with a split skull, she focused on the boy's charge.

Dodging to the side, trying to avoid the broad size of his axe, it catches the side of one of her legs. Not enough to cause her to stumble, but still it gave her pause, making her reel backwards for a moment and try to readjust her tactics. After a moment she dodged to the side, aiming parted jaws at one of Davey's front legs, trying to snag it as he was swinging his axe the opposite direction.

Animated but intense, Davey watches the girl as she moves. Chaos and order at war within him, creating the tension that keeps him upright. That makes him dangerous, and sends the boy out swinging. The swinging, that's where he's at his best, after all.

The blunt side of his axe catching the girl, though she doesn't stumble. Davey would still make use of the hesitation, striking out once more. A fluid swing of his weapon before letting it go, allowing it to clatter to the ground. It would make for a nasty hazard on the field, and Davey knew how to dance around it. This is what he's practiced.

Her teeth making firm contact with his foreleg, Davey pushes forward into the bite instead of wrenching away. Leaning in with all his weight, and trying to scaffold himself to land a solid bite around her scruff. All of that, while trying not to step on the blade of an axe in the meantime. No biggie, right?

Astaroth was admittedly largely fueled by knowing exactly how upset her moms would be if she came back home with a major injury. They'd both ingrained in her that she needed to be careful, to protect herself at all costs. Sparring with someone with such a dangerous weapon wasn't really part of that equation. Her gaze kept flicking to the axe he wielded, knowing how devastating it could be if she wasn't careful.

He aims the weapon at her again, and it hits her square in the chest. The force is enough to make her stumble backwards, disrupting her focus for a moment from the bite she'd inflicted on him.

The next second he's lunging forward and grabbing hold of her scruff hard. Distracted too by trying not to land on the sharp end of the axe, she follow's Davey's lead, pushing her weight back into his bite. She hopes to lash out with a paw and try to trip him up, while aiming her head down to bite at his forelimb again, if she can manage it.
