set before the dm.
short starter -- sorry!

The brilliance of her strategy would undoubtedly bring the results she desired, hoping to lure her father to his ultimate demise by positioning herself nearest to where he and his ?daughter? resided, lingering in the eastern region where she had once thrived as a Tortugan. Having bested the sable brat he favored as a daughter merely weeks ago, gravely injuring her ribs in the process, it was only presumed that her behemoth father would seek her presence to reprimand her for the ruthlessness she displayed ? just as she had planned and relayed to the bitch. It was considered taboo to even wish to encounter Seraphim, and yet, the phantom prodigy feared not the wrath of her mother for she could only envision how proud the ice queen would be of her efforts to bring the brute into her clutches ? to grant the woman with a reason to eliminate him from the mortal world as she so desired. Even still, the adolescent could not fight the guilt that ebbed away at her conscience as she waited and hoped to cross paths with the male who sired her; but would he fall into her trap?

Only earlier this evening had he heard of the encounter his adopted daughter had with his biological, the one who was so like her mother it was uncanny. The child had grown to be a clone of the wench, as power hungry and ruthless as ever, yet Seraphim had seen something else before their last meeting. He had seen a love in his daughter's eyes when she had been younger and he knew he was not mistaken. She was the child who wagged her tail when she saw him, the one who truly worked to mask any affection as her mother had instruction but still could not hide it all. That girl had to remain in there somewhere. No matter how hard a wolf tried to bury an unwanted side of itself, it would always resurface eventually. With his recent surge in emotions Seraphim could attest to that well. Ever the cold brute he had been before the birth of his children, certain he could care for little in the world. He had tucked away his love for his sister and his childlike playfulness for a stern personality that fractured at the perfect pressure.

He had not sought her out, but he had found her nonetheless. The scent of kin wafted to his nostrils as her neared the falls and he stopped in his tracks. Though he did not see her, he knew she was here. Artemis, he barked in a tone that was stern, yet soft. It was the tone of a father, one who still cared enough to show it if only in a word.

While she was nearly her mother?s doppelg?nger in both her ruthlessness and incessant ambition, the phantom was an individual nonetheless ? one who felt the faintest emotional pull towards the select few of her bloodline and one who had remained devoted even to a brother whose loyalties had shifted to an outsider. The wraith was as callous as she was dedicated, and yet, few knew of the positive traits she retained for she had almost mastered the ability to obscure what little redeeming qualities she possessed through the intensive reprimanding she had received from her mother. Emotion was something she had been forbidden to display let alone feel, and therefore it had been a concept she had discarded early in her youth ? something that surfaced only on rare occasions.

The voice that extracted her from her collection of thought had been one so foreign to the babe, yet immediately she recognized who it belonged to, skull rapidly elevating from its perch atop her oversized paws as her muzzle extended in the direction the voice had emanated from. Triangular ears swiveled this way and that in an attempted effort to help her locate the goliath that sired her, pupils ravaging through the underbrush of her surroundings in search of his pallid form. Immediately, the gleam of his pale fur beneath the moonlight captivated her attention, dread soon flooding the pit of her stomach at the realization that the outcome was inevitable, skull abruptly lowering behind the foliage she rested near in an attempt to remain hidden. ?No, she thought as she regained her composure, ?What must be done, must be done.

With as much splendor as the phantom prodigy could gather, she pulled her mass upon all fours, sauntering out from the shadows to reveal her presence to her disowned father as she stalked towards the shoreline of a shallow pool of rainwater. Digits grazed the cool liquid as she halted in her stride, silence encumbering the babe as her mismatched gaze scrutinized her father?s form for any trace of fury or weakness, finding none despite recent events involving Devya. Little to no emotion filtered through the wraith?s porcelain countenance as her pupils lingered upon the man, at a loss for words until her arrogance got the best of her. ?How?s Devya?? she taunted, mischief dancing briefly across her eyes even through the monotony of her speech. ?Do you know how strong I am?

After mere moments of waiting, the girl would make herself known to her father. Seraphim would watch her carefully as she emerged from the shadows before him. Of course, she would attempt to provoke him, ever Morphine's daughter. With a plain stare he would shrug, showing no irritation. It would be a lie to say that Devya's injuries did not bother him, but she was a strong girl and could fight her own battles. He bore a concern no different for the daughter who stood before him.

Devya is fine. How are you, Artemis? Sitting back and wrapping his tail about his paws he would focus an inquisitive gaze on the girl. He was certain she would not take kindly to his concern, but he would show it openly nonetheless. He was her father, whether she liked it or not, and he would always care regardless of the circumstances.
