He'd been spending all of his time worrying. Worrying about who would come to Ludicael, who try to take his pack from his family, who try to uproot his sol Jupiter. Why couldn't his pack just be left alone? What had they done to deserve any of this? He didn't believe that any of it was necessary. Ludicael was a peaceful pack. It didn't mess with the affairs of other packs, didn't go around challenging others for no apparent reason. Ludicael kept to itself and was only seen when it was defending one of its own. So help him, anyone that tried to lay a paw on any of the members of his pack would be answering to his jaws.

A quiet sigh slipped past the sable knight's lips as his eyes fluttered open, unable to sleep. All the worrying he was doing was keeping him up at night and sleep was a hard thing to come by these days. Bi-colored eyes would dance around him to the sleeping figures of his wife and children, gaze falling on one specific figure; lakota. She was the baby of the litter, the smallest at the moment, but the proud father knew that she wouldn't stay that way for long. She still had a long way to grow up. Slowly the man would uncurl himself around from his wife, careful in his movements so that he wouldn't wake her as he tiptoed around her until he was beside Lakota, muzzle gently pressing into her side. Wake up my little one. Let's go greet the morning. He would nudge her a few more times before turning away to make his way to entrance, nostrils flaring as the crisp scents of the morning invaded his senses. Chest would inflate with a huge gulp of oxygen before deflating as he turned back to look into the den, waiting for his youngest daughter to emerge and join him.

Lakota was sleeping, dreaming peacefully of chasing a rabbit, little paws churning as she raced after the fluffy creature in her dream. The ebony and ivory pup was still new to the world, unversed in it's ways. She had never hunted a rabbit on her own in real life, but that did not take away from the joy of the hunt in her dream. The little girl couldn't wait to grow up and hunt on her own, taste the blood fresh from a carcass, not the stale blood that she occasionally licked off of the pelts of her parents.

The young girl was closing in on the rabbit, just about to pounce and make the kill when Kota was nudged and brought back into wakefulness. Blinking sleep out of bleary dual-toned irises, Lakota lifted her head to identify the wolf who had disturbed her much-needed slumber. Gold and crimson orbs picked out her father, Cherokee, standing above her. He spoke a few words, encouraging Kota to get up and join him outside, an activity the pup was loath to do when she was curled up with her siblings, warm and sleepy. However, Cherokee was insistent. Lakota groaned, a high pitched puppy growl. "But Papa!" Lakota whined. "I dun wanna get up."

Mumbling to herself, Lakota struggled to her paws, still half asleep. The girl kept her back paws in one place, but slid forward on her front paws until her front legs were flush with the den floor, stretching her back. Kota yawned, an adorable squeal. Glancing around for her father, Lakota realized that Cherokee had already made his way to the entrance of the den. The girl padded quietly after him, flopping down next to her ebony father and laying her head on his front paws, assuming he was still in the same spot. "Why's you only woke me up?" Kota asked, her speech not as advanced as that of a grown wolf.

She was s stubborn little thing, vehemently protesting against being woken, her whining causing the other pups to stir but thankfully no one would wake. Though she wasn't too fond of the idea of rising at this hour of the morning, the little babe would grumpily rise to her paws and make her way towards the entrance, flopping down beside him, placing her tiny head atop his paws, the natural question bubbling from his daughter's lips. An amused chuckle would rumble in the dark man's chest, crown dipping towards Lakota, daggers gently tugging at her ebony ear. Don't you want to get some breakfast little one? A smile would curl ebony jaws as he gently pushed the ivory babe off his paws, expecting her to roll over in a half asleep heap.

The sable knight would take a moment to give himself his own stretch, front limbs sliding down before him as his hind end remained in the same position, spine extending in order to better chase away the sleepiness. With a groan that borealis would straighten himself up, looking towards his daughter again. Come on grumpy pants, let's catch some rabbits. Knowing full well that she would follow, Cherokee would start off at a slow walk, waiting for Lakota's figure to appear beside him.

Lakota had nearly fallen straight back to sleep on her father's paws when Cherokee tugged one of the pup's ears and spoke once more, asking about breakfast. "Well duhhh," Lakota said in the moment before Cherokee rolled her off of his paws. The pup yelped once and laid on the ground, a tangle of tail and gangly legs. Lakota glared sarcastically at her father, disconcerting irises narrowed playfully. The young girl yawned once more before rising to her too-large paws. Lakota was slowly waking up, the fresh dawn air crisp in her nostrils.

Lakota stood by patiently while her father stretched, waiting for him to reveal his true plans for the morning. When he mentioned catching rabbits, Lakota's eyes bugged nearly out of their sockets. The girl was paralyzed with surprise for a moment, staring at Cherokee as he began walking out into the world. Finally realization clicked and Lakota sped after him, short legs pumping. The girl attempted to leap onto her father's back, excitement making her giddy.

"Papa are we really gon' hunt?!" Kota yelped. "Are you gon' teach me?" the girl's mind was moving a thousand miles a second, her mouth struggling to catch up. Words spilled from her maw in a rapid tumble. "I was jus' dreamin' 'bout huntin' a rabbit, and now I really get to!" Lakota yipped her excitement. "Yay, Papa!"

He missed the playful glare his daughter directed in his direction, but not the yelp of surprise as she fell over on herself and became a tangled heap of paws and tail and puppy. She would immediately straighten herself back up only to stop when he mentioned that they were going to hunt rabbits. Cherokee was unaware of the shocked expression taking a hold on her features, but he wasn't surprised to feel his daughter jumping and leaping over him, beyond excited that they were going to hunt rabbits because apparently she had just been dreaming about rabbits before he'd woken her. An amused grin would curl the knight's dark lips as he turned to look at Lakota. Yes baby girl, we're going to hunt rabbits. He chuckled, glad that she was so excited for her first hunting lesson, salmon tongue swiping across her nose as he continued to walk, nostrils scenting for rabbits in the nearby area. They were getting close. Their scent was faint.
