Novocaine and his siblings had learnt how to walk not that long ago and with that came the desire to explore. Dark grey paws rocked back and forth as the boy deliberated. He frowned at the outside world, steel blue eyes narrowing before he took a hesitant step outside the den. He had seen his siblings playing outside before, joined once and a while but he had usually been the follower, this time however? He was making the choice on his own and it was exhilarating. It gave him a sense of power and a dark grin spread across his features.
The wind picked up and blew some fallen leaves across the ground. A puppy growl rumbled up from his chest and he chased after one, batting at it with his paws and snapping at it; not really aware of the amount of distance he was putting between himself and the den.

the alabaster brute had remained close, though he didn't watch over his spawn's every move. always lurking nearby, always around. he had watched each pup, his mind contemplating its future, if it survived that long. today, from a rock he had perched himself on, he watched curiously as novacaine emerged alone into the world, apparently exploring on his own. ah, so the coward did have some nerve after all. interesting. moving from his rock, he jumped down, hoping to land in front of his bastard pup, a dark chuckle rumbling in his chest.

"and where are you going, child?"

he asked, his baritone voice merely a rumble, as he looked down at the pathetic scrap of fur that shared his blood. would the pup stand up to the measurements his parents had laid out for him, and why in the hell, was he even here? damn morphine. this was all her fault. what female in her right mind gave birth to his spawn and let them live?

Novocaine was not aware of the man, not until the ivory spectre was nearly upon him anyways. His reaction was almost instantaneous. While lesser pups might have pulled back in fear, Novocaine was visibly startled but instead of moving into a more submissive position his hackles raised and lips drew back to reveal tiny daggers. His ears laid flat against his head, all in a matter of seconds. The leaf he had been chasing only a moment before banished from his mind.
The boy would not recognize his sire, the brute an abstract concept for him. There was no point of reference for him to compare; he knew not that he was supposed to have a father so did not miss him. To the pup his father simply didn?t exist. There was something about the brute that Novocaine didn?t like, his displeasure voiced in a weak growl. The boy would try to look his fiercest as the brute spoke, steel blue eyes narrowed.
?Out.? Was his stubborn answer, head lifting some. Surely he was old enough to leave the den on his own and he wasn?t sure why this strange male should care either way. The boy shifted his weight eager to be away from the man.

at least his child didn't seem to be a totally pathetic coward. a snicker of amusement bubbled in his chest, as the pup didn't flee from his sudden intrusion in the young childs game. he watched as his spawn's hackles raised, revealing tiny dagger like teeth, drawing a loud rumble of laughter from the alabaster brute. stepping forward, he lowered his head, feeling his own hackles raise as a snarl etched itself along his maw, revealing his own teeth with a deep warning growl. as he moved, his body tensed up, slipping into a position that was clearly offensive.

"sure you want to stand up to me child?"

he knew the bastard child wouldn't know who he was, and perhaps that made the torture all the more interesting. in one bite, one simple snap of the jaws, he could end the scrawny little creature who stood before him, could taste the blood coursing through its veins, his blood. 'Out.' was the childs reply, and a snicker left his parted jaws.

"you should stay home, child, there are creatures out here who'd enjoy the meager meal you'd make."

with a huff, he turned padding away his head high from his spawn, stepping around his rock pile, before pausing, his muscles bunching underneath his ivory draped coat, before he jumped. landing on the top, he settled himself, his two toned eyes watching the oddly marked pup, that was his son.

? Mother. The pale matriarch had been the first thought that entered the phantom?s mind as she awoke on the battlegrounds of war, caked in the blood of her fallen adversaries and then some that had drained from her own defeated body. The wraith had been conscious to hear the desperate screech that had resonated from her sovereign?s lips far off from where numerous battles had been waged, she had been conscious to taste the savory fluids that her incisors extracted from the sable assailant that attacked the Glaciem king, she had been conscious to feel teeth plunge into the base of her tail and conscious to feel the eagle?s talons gouge into her left shoulder blade, but she could recall nothing more than that. She was only aware of the fact that she had been felled by an unseen opponent and that he had spared her health, but such a concept of her first defeat did not faze the wench; no ? the unknown had seen victory only because of her exhaustion. Regardless, the babe was alive and felt more alive than she ever had as she maneuvered carefully towards her mother?s birthing site where she had been expected to remain, internally vowing to respond to Canttina?s distressed call at a later date. Informing her mother of recent happenings ? including Ares? betrayal and Codeine?s return ? was far more important than whatever it was that the masked woman wanted with her.

As she breached beyond her mother and younger siblings? domain, battered and bruised, the prominent scent of a male flooded her nasal cavity, a forced snort expelling the rancid aroma from her nostrils as she realized exactly who the stench belonged to: her mother?s fuckbuddy. Despite the pain that wracked her body, the phantom accelerated in the direction the scent emanated from, irritation sweeping her interior as the brutish goliath came into view, accompanied by a small whelp that she could only assume was one of her younger siblings. Rather than immediately confront the sinister creature that sired the newest Elysius, the babe sluggishly drew closer to the duo, obscuring herself from view behind a dense bush, pupils observant as they remained fixated upon the encounter before her, muscles coiled in preparation to intervene in the worst-case scenario. Should the hellion choose to touch the slightest hair upon the child?s head, the babe would not hesitate to end his existence ? injured or not.

A smirk crept upon her countenance and triangular ears careened forward to better catch the vocals that spewed from both father and child?s lips, appeased by the undaunted nature of the tyke as he bristled and growled at the behemoth that intercepted his path. ? Definitely an Elysius. As the father spoke, however, the amusement dissipated from her bloodied visage and her upper lip unfurled to expose tainted incisors in a show of momentary fury, robust appendages propelling the wench towards the duo as she breached a decision. All sense of emotion vacated her facial features as she approached her younger sibling?s right side, mismatched gaze never leaving the pallid male, daring him to cause harm to the child. ?If that is so,? she began in response to his final statement, halting beside her younger sibling and allowing her bloodied neck to descend defensively over her breast, ?Perhaps you should play your part as ?father? and ensure no harm comes to him.?

There was very little the boy liked about the man before him, save his intimidating nature. A puppy growl rising up from his throat as the man laughed. He lowered himself closer to the ground as the strange brute shifted to a more offensive position. The whelp did not know the brutal nature of his sire, a nature he carried within him yet untapped; but he foolishly would believe himself up to the task of defending himself. He would show no fear, as he did not seem to possess it, that would simply come with age, but the boy was young still and that was all that mattered in the moment.
He did not like feeling as though the brute was taunting him, did not like being mocked. He wanted to wipe that smirk right off his face but he found himself rooted to the ground, snarling in his little voice as the man spoke again. A retort ready upon his tongue when a sudden shape bolted across his peripherals, he jumped his gaze snapping onto the figure. He bristled some as she drew up beside him, sidestepping away from her some. She seemed to have her attention on the brute however and he was given a moment to draw in her form. Novocaine did not know of any older siblings, though she resembled his mother in some ways, he had no reason to think her a sister. He had a sister already what need did he have for a second one?
He would turn his attention back to the brute, now a bit away from the boy. He wanted to go after him, but wasn?t sure he should move, wasn?t sure of the new wolf?s intentions. His gaze had widened some, tail curling between his legs, tiny fangs still bared but now rather than confident in his ability to hold his own he was, in his mind, stuck between a rock and a hard place.

He remembered his father, a weak man, but he was always there for him, always a father. Creedance didn't know how to take the fact that, he too, was now a father. He had watched each pathetic scrap of fur from a distance, careful, not to stray to close. His brief interaction with his son, had proved amusing, but perhaps what was more amusing was the arrival of Morphine's older daughter, the snarky little bitch. His ears craned forward at her words, drawing him into a standing position with a huff. From on top of the rock, he looked down at her, watching her for a moment before speaking.

"Tell me, my little dame, did you get your ass kicked by a hedge-hog? Didn't mommy warn you not to stray from home, hmm?" His voice was a low sultry purr, as he looked at her, before jumping from his rock, landing easily on the ground. "A father? Ah, my dear lass, I wouldn't dream of any harm coming to them, or you.." He crooned as he strolled towards the pair, his posture relaxed. "Why do you involve yourself in messy pack politics? Want me to win you a crown my dear? Is that what you seek?" His two-toned eyes watched the wraith, a slight smirk teasing his jaws.

Turning his eyes to his son, he spoke. "What's your name, boy?"

The wraith would neither flinch nor cower as the object of her intrigue launched himself from his perch, mismatched gaze flickering instead to land upon the oblivious tyke at her side as he adopted a rigid stance, unlike that of which her mother would prefer. ?Stand as I do, brother,? she would advise the miniscule titan with a soft whisper, skull elevating slightly while her shoulders rolled back and her tail ascended in alignment with her spinal column, displaying the immaculate poise her mother had demanded she utilize in order to portray an aura of undeniable confidence. It was a lesson she would not forget, and thus, she would pass along to her younger and obviously uncertain sibling the same information in hopes that he would take it to heart as she had. The Elysius were a breed unlike any other ? the child would learn this with time, and with time he would develop beautifully as she had and as her littermates had; it was his destiny.

Whether or not her sibling had acted upon her command, her attention would be redirected to his sire as he strode confidently towards them, his jaws gaping to emit venomous vocalizations that the phantom only assumed were spoken with the intention of infuriating her. Rather than grant the pallid behemoth what she presumed he desired, her countenance would remain stoic, mismatched amethyst and metallic eyes never leaving the premises of his own bicolored eyes even as she retorted. ?My mother would much prefer that I participate and fell my opponents in battle; I shall receive no reprimanding, I assure you,? the wraith informed the brute pointedly, suggesting to her most recent achievements with a tone of indifference despite the pride that swelled within her breast.

It was the brute?s following sentiment that would shatter the apathy that consumed the wraith?s visage, brows minutely furrowing as a scowl crossed her porcelain features. The affection that laced his tones seemed genuine as well as the offer to ensnare a crown for her pretty head, and the babe found herself quite stumped as to how to respond, suspicious of his motives. ?I?? she hesitated, gaze narrowing and countenance regaining its indifference as she breached her final decision. ?I want to win it on my own,? she confessed stiffly, pupils fixated upon the brute even as he addressed her younger sibling again, curious.

Much of what was said was lost on the boy, much to his annoyance. He had been here first and now it felt as though he was being largely ignored. That would soon be remedied as the wraith he did not know as his sister would lower cranium to give him advice, though the use of the word brother did not go unnoticed. Steel gaze watched carefully as she righted herself and he did his best to mimic her. He widened his stance some, allowing his joints to unlock, banner unfurling from between his legs to rise slightly above his rump.
The attention would then shift away from him again, which did give the boy time to ponder upon her words. Brother? the word seemed ill-fit coming from her mouth, still he could not deny the resemblance between the wraith and his mother. Was is possible that he had an older sister, maybe even other older siblings? The concept boggled him some, had his mother been dissatisfied with her first children? Why has he not seen any about? The world he had known was suddenly expanding, shifting beneath him and he was afraid to lose his footing if he could not reason out these questions.
He would be pulled from the depths of thought as the alabaster brute slunk from his perch towards them. Novocaine wanted nothing more than to adopt a more offensive posture but he was acutely away of his sister beside him, he would not deny her advice. The stranger?s lyrics fell on deaf ears when it came to the young Elysius, the particulars mattered little and less to him; whatever it was they were discussing it was clearly ?adult stuff.? That was until the brute flicked his gaze upon him and uttered a question.
Tilting his head back some, he read the question as a challenge, one he would eagerly meet. ?Novocaine Elysius.? He would declare with as much pride as the small pup could muster.
