white rabbit's on the run

Long, graceful limbs carried the russet vixen across the lush fields quickly, her pace heightened with desire. What desire, one might ask? It was relatively simple. To leave. Rajani wasn?t entirely sure what had possessed her to journey to the battlefield in the first place, but whatever it was, she was convinced that she shouldn?t have listened. Gritting her jaw with a harsh clack, she pulled her ears against her skull and continued to weave her way through the meadow, occasionally leaping over one of the stones that littered the meadow, or merely weaving herself around it. ?Certainly a nice place to involve so much bloody nonsense,? She muttered in her normal sultry, almost Latino tones, eyes scanning the nearby area.
When she said bloody, she meant it quite literally. A rogue like herself wouldn?t normally be caught dead in such a place ? she didn?t want to run the risk of being claimed, or something of that distasteful effect. Rajani rolled her multihued eyes. Who wanted to join a pack, anyways? Being a loner ? rogue ? was so much more fulfilling. After all, you could really do whatever you wanted whenever you wanted, with no restrictions. Rajani paused, scanning the surrounding area; she had never been sure why this place was so popular, but then again, she was a chaotic neutral.
She jumped back into a run with a slight roll of her eyes. What was she worried about? ?Jeez, Raj,? She muttered, ?You?re turning into your mother. Nottttt good. You?re a big girl, and you can take care of yourself.? She meant that figuratively and literally. Rajani was a pretty big wolf, by almost anyone?s standards; she wasn?t as heavyset as most creatures of her size, but she was quite muscular from years of being on her own. A slight smirk crossed her features. Hey, if someone challenged her ? or tried to claim her, blegh ? she could fend for herself.
As she moved further and further in, it became obvious that she was getting lost. She?d never admit it, of course, but she hadn?t known where she was going in the first place, and now that she kept going in deeper and deeper, she had even less of an idea. Every few minutes or so she paused, both to catch her breath and to survey the area; evening was starting to grace the fields, and she had been traveling since, say, early afternoon.
The vixen glanced back in the way that she had come. She could always follow her scent out, but she wasn?t entirely sure that it would be the fastest way out, especially considering how long she?d been running? turning head, she faced forward, and began to plow ahead recklessly. By this point, however, she was starting to get tired. It was somewhat obvious ? her strides were losing their length, although they retained most of their grace, and her pace was slowing. It wasn?t terribly noticeable yet, but she knew that she?d have to stop eventually. Hopefully, however, she?d be at the opposite side of the battlegrounds by then.

The earth seemed to hold its breath as the queen slayer walked the edge of the world. It was as if the spirits of this place knew her by heart. Knew who she was and what she had done. She shook her coat to dismiss the false whisperings of the haunting apparitions. They could not sway her away from this place. It was a sad day when Sade died but it was of her own doing. she thought to them. As if they could read the depths of her soul from her minds eye. She felt no guilt for taking Sade?s life. She had done as her master had instructed and nothing more. She felt at home amongst the domain of wreckage and decay. Every stain of blood told a story. Every death that littered the field was a spoil the rats of the world could enjoy. This was where lives were made or ruined. Where enslavements were becoming a common thing. Though they were dressed in pretty words and ranks it was enslavement none the less. She wasn?t any different. Not with the world resting on her shoulders and the pack that she had won, its numbering were falling. They needed fresh blood and a fresh outlook. Words caught her attention. She was curious if the flowers that bloomed here gossiped. Was that what she heard? Quarrelling flowers? Oh but that quarrel sounded one sided now didn?t it? She tiled her head as she caught the aroma of female. Someone was wandering where they ought not be. Her dark lips curled upright with a false sweet smile as she stalked the stranger. She was large for a female but not the behemoth size of herself. She had yet to meet a solitary wolf that stood as tall as she did or weighted as much. Her tail flicked as she watched her, seeking the exit or perhaps some fun? ?Well, what has the winds brought upon my nose?? she questioned in a gruff voice. Her ears were forward as was her head. Displaying her newly acquired dominance. It was a habit she was a stranger too but she was growing into her new queens skin. She shook her velvet coat and smiled wicked teeth. ?Have I found a little lost lamb? Or perhaps a small lion wishing to show off its claws?? she asked with a tilt of her head. Her tail flicked behind her as she waited for the female to either speak or bolt. Oh but she did love a good chase. Dom could attest to that. She smiled at the thought of her little mouse and focused her attention on the lamb or lion before her. |
