Nothing Feared More.

It was Newol's nature to explore. It's what he did. It's how he functioned. With the rate of speed at which he was able to think, he had a need to take in things that where new to him. And as such he explored. He still had need of a permanet point of residence, but he had yet to place every pack in his new environment. And being a wolf of his particular nature, he wanted to make sure he was a respectable distance from any of them so as not to displease anyone. But ever sense he'd gotten here, the life and the trees and the abundance of resources the likes of which he'd not seen coming of age fascinated him to no end. This, this is what it took to support a pack. That would explain why there had been no packs in the desert he was from. Why it had all been wanderers and the lost.
That's what flooded his mind as he sat and looked at the wall before him. Newol had set out from home a yearling raised by a rag tag band of Misfits with courage in his heart and with pain and fear just a paw step behind him. And sense the day he started running, he'd been able to stay just that, one good solid paw step ahead. His was a positive out look. And now here he sat, with the desert sands firmly behind him. But something about this wall intrigued him. It was a wall of stone stacked high about his head keeping the treeline that he sat in separated from the other side. It was like something from the stories of old that had been passed down in his family line. Of good battling evil. Stories that his own journey couldn't hold a stick to. A small lick of the royal Zaraidd bloodline pulsed through his veins, but it was still there. And his father had done everything in his power to make sure that's he'd be raised as such. But Newol hadn't let it go to his head. He knew his place in the world.
Finally, the morning sun made it's way over the horizon and began to shed light into the world again. At that moment, Newol realized how tired he was. He'd been so inclined to explore that his sleeping pattern had been anything but normal. He'd stayed up all night just moving about and sticking his nose here and there scenting flowers he'd never seen before in his life and gnawing on leaves of planets that where just as new to him. It was a very childish way that he expressed his fascination with this place with such a curiosity and joyous energy. But then, to him, Joy was a priceless thing.

Blood pelted temptress had left the island at some point in the night, secreting away into the shadows and tempting the oceans by moonlight. It hadn't been an easy swim and it had left her slender limbs shakey and fatigued. Yet she pressed on, lengthy appendages devouring the miles almost effortlessly. She had no real destination in mind, no clear course to follow and yet she pushed herself to go faster and faster. After some time it seemed that she was heading north, the scents of various pack pressing in around her. She had always loved the north but recently Glaciem had expanded and Tortuga had moved further north as well so it was hard to go anywhere without encroaching into someone packlands. And the packs up here had a habit of not being very hospitable... So as the scents of packs grew stronger and stronger she slower down and picked her way more carefully through the lands. Soon coming to the crumbled mess of a wall, one of the few territories here that weren't yet claimed. It also just so happened to be one of the red demoness's favourite territories. She loved scaling to the top of it and seeing what there was to see, to walk along it's length like it was a path built just for her. And that was exactly what she planned to do this evening, though as far as she could tell from the sky it would be dawn soon? Funny how she didn't even notice the time, the fact that she had run straight through the night not seeming to wear on her body. Dainty, frost bitten paws danced easily over the rubble as she made her way up the crumbling stone slope and up onto the flattened yet wide top of the wall. It was easily 10 feet over anything and everything but the height didn't bother her and she walked along it as easily as if she would walk along a dirt path. It was the perfect view of the sunrise from up there, for a moment she paused in her trek and allowed for all four paws to plant squarely while lantern eyes followed the sun as it began it's ascent into the sky. It was beautiful, all the reds and oranges bleeding into one another and then fading into the slowly lightening blue of the sky. No matter how many times she watched it she had always loved it. No sunrise was the same, even when viewed from the same spot. She couldn't count the number of times she had watched the sun rise or set from a place along the wall. It was rarely ever different, but today was one of those off days where it was different. If only slightly made so by the presence of a lowly speck further along the wall and at the base of it. A wolf? She was intrigued, as always by the presence of another. Tail flittered behind her as she sashayed her way further along the wall, head raised but chin tucked so her neck arched elegantly. Legs stretched forth and ankles flicked her forward into an easy prance. Lantern eyes zeroed in on her target, a young male with a scarred maw seated at the base of the wall and staring up. He was cute, though the scars were a bit of a turn off she had been growing a bit more fond of them ever since returning to Taurig. She would slow as she drew closer, serpentine smile slithering across inky lips. "Dear, you look a bit lonely? Care for some company?" Words would slither forth from smokey vocals as she stopped on the wall above him and slowly lowered herself to her haunches. Neck would arch further so black lined eyes stared down at her with a bemused look, smile remaining plastered on her lips. She wasn't too keen on jumping down just yet, maybe if he was cute and charming she would but not just yet. |

The brown pelted brute was thankfully pulled from his deep train of thought, as he didn't quiet like it when he was allowed to wander deep into the confines of his own mind, by this new comer. Looking up when her scent reached his nostrils, Newol caught her approaching him from the top of the wall. And she carried with her a certain... charisma, that caught his eye. Setting up straight, his ears stood straight up as a very handsome and welcoming smile came to his face. As she came into better view where he could better see the details of her figure, he had to admit to himself that he liked what he saw. As she approached, he did nothing and said nothing, merely allowed her the first move. He wasn't sure if that was a sign of courtesy or simply do to his tired state. Ether way, a potential new friend always stirred up the gentlemen in him.
When she reached him and addressed him, with a smooth voice at that, his lips parted in a very welcoming smile. He offered a slight bow of his head in greeting to her before saying in a young adult's voice that he sometimes struggled to believe was his now, "Why of course. I'd love to share the morning like with an attractive stranger such as yourself." He mused his words in a very friendly and polite manor.
It was funny. Newol had believed once that he'd never grow up. And yet here and now he could feel maturity digging it's way into the edges of his being. But fortunately for the world, the high pedigree male had somewhere along the lines lost that fact within himself and was truly at heart another desert brat. So he didn't have to grow up all the way if he didn't have to. "Out for a morning stroll, friend?" He questioned in an attempt to start conversation.

ooc;; mindless yammering :DD anyways sorry this took so long D:
He was young, almost painfully so, to the point where she almost felt guilty looking at him with that devilish look of hers. He was almost a child compared to her, just mature enough to be a sire and here she was almost past her prime in her mind. Soon to be a mother even. She had no right to be stalking this poor boy, and yet she had no intention of stopping. Serpentine smile slid with practiced easy across inky lips as forepaws tipped over the edge of the wall and walked their was down until she was laying heavily on her stomach and rib cage with forepaws dangling over the edge of the 10 foot drop. It wasn't anything to scoff at, that was for sure but if she managed not to break her leg in the process of jumping off it would make her look pretty bad ass she figured. And did it really matter if she hurt herself? She had a pack to help take care of her and her young ones now. But she didn't leap just yet, simply laying there and gazing down at him through luminescent eyes. Though her words brought a bit of a chuckle rolling up her throat, gazed tossed to the heavens for a moment as she rolled her eyes before returning to the young suitor before her. Funny how as she grew older she no longer had to fish for compliments like she used to even though she was beginning to hate her body more and more as she felt the years take their toll on her.
"Good to hear, there aren't many strangers in these parts left to me. Tell me, where are you from?" She asked pleasantly, head cocking ever so slightly to the side as ears swiveled forward to catch the answer to her question. It was true, the red woman had met many. She knew most all of the packs and the wolves residing within them and there weren't many loners left she didn't know well enough to stop and say hi to. Not all were close but she knew faces or knew of their reputations. So to run into someone who she knew nothing of or had never seen even in passing was quite the odd occurrence and only made her more curious. But before she could have her answer it seemed she would have to give one of her own. Smile turned dark once more, a simple implication as another chuckle rolled up her throat and reverberated through her teeth. A stroll? "One could say that, trying to get a bit lost would be a better description. Can't really find where you want to go in these parts until you don't know where you are after all..." Smile grew as she gave him a moment to ponder the madness of the words she had just thrown at him.
Haunches lifted, forepaws sliding further down the wall face before she allowed her hind paws to drop over the lip as well. It dropped her into a bit of a freefall though she kept her paws as close to the wall as possible. Haunches would curl beneath her almost like she was sitting while she dropped before uncoiling them and launching her outwards past the male. She landed rather elegantly though the shock that ran through her legs at the impact made her grimace and her breath catch in her throat. She was thankful she landed with her back to him so he didn't have to see the probably less then attractive expression that swept across her features at the moment of landing. But as always she played it off easily, taking a moment to flick her tail almost like a gymnast would raise their arms after sticking that hard landing, before turning to look over her shoulder at him. "So whats your name, friend?" There was a noticeable pause as she struggled to spit out the term friend. It wasn't something she used often but then again she felt like the word stranger might be a bit of a slap in the face to him. He seemed far to friendly for such icy words.

Her statement struck Newol as no madness at all actually. He found himself much in agreement with them. But her following question sent him for a loop, which was interrupted only by her jump down from the wall. He'd been surprised that she'd been able to do it, but somehow she'd managed. A chuckle escaping at the site. He was quite impressed with the girl for managing to do such a thing. But the fact of the matter was that her question had actually carried some weight to it. He didn't take it as her fault though, as she couldn't have known. So with a rather heavy, yet soft voice, he issued the words that made up his name. His smile never leaving his face, somehow defiantly refusing to let the thoughts hurt it. "I'm Newol Fated Zaraidd."
Then turning back to the sunrise, the faint orange and pink light hit his face as he staired up at the sky, smile still refusing to leave his face. Newol didn't like to think of his origins. Not because he had had a horrible childhood, but rather, because he knew he'd have been content where he was at. But the adults in their marry band of misfits all told their offspring the same thing. Each of them held a light inside their heart and where to take in out into the world. Instead of staying with them and always on the move, happy and content, they wanted their children to spread like wildfire into the world and truly prosper. To Thrive. And so he ran. Once he was old enough, they all ran away from home together before going their separate ways. He'd run long and hard and fast to keep the pain of leaving from catching him.
Closing his eyes in the soft morning light, he took a long deep breath in with his nose. The light, content grin never leaving his face. He was glad his back was to her right now so she couldn't see the bubbling emotions in his eyes that the fond memory had brought up in him. Finally, parting his maw in a refreshing exhale, his eyes opened and now all that burned in this was hope. Again his voice sounded the air, but this time it was much more strong and solid. "And I am from the desert sand of another time. Another place. One my parents told me to run away from and find a place I could thrive." Turning to look at the fea now, he readjusted his sitting position so that he was now facing her. With a content expression on his face he continued. "So I whole heartedly agree with you. Some people have to run so far into the world, they don't know where they are anymore, to find where they belong."

The fact that he didn't blink and stare awkwardly at her when she spoke was a welcome change and she found she smile growing even as he chuckled at her attempt at landing gracefully. After the sting began to recede from her legs she tested them, shifting her weight from one paw to the other then around to make sure they were all feeling well. His words drew her back from her thoughts and she turned slowly to face him, head tilting pleasantly as she stored his name forever in her mind. "Newol? Pleasure to meet you, I'm Viridiana Sovari though most call me Vi." Words Slithered tantalizingly off her tongue as she lowered her haunches to the ground and flipped white dipped tail around her forepaws. She gave him the time he needed to collect his thoughts, allowing lantern gaze to follow his to the sunrise. Though unlike him she was unable to keep the smile steadily on her features and slowly it dissolved into a blank slate as she stared into the almost blinking light. How many times had she watched the sun rise over horizon mountain with her brother and the goddess? How many sunrises had she spent in the company of random strangers of corpses? She couldn't count them and yet here was another spent with a stranger. She missed her family. A sharp exhale of breath was what finally drew her back to the presence and slowly unblinking eyes would turn to the male before her, head tipping curiously and ears swivelling forward to catch whatever words might follow his breath. And words did in fact follow, heavy and heart felt. Run to where you can thrive? Parents said those kinds of things? Vi's concept of parenting and a normal family relationship had always been skewed and distorted so his words hit somewhere painful in her heart. But as he turned to face her she forced a small smile, the edge of her lips twitching up easily. Again her spoke and slowly she stood, shaking any dirt that may have collected in her red pelt before motioning for him to follow. "Well then let me welcome you to Alacrita. The north has the most beautiful sunrises but nothing bets the islands if you have a chance to visit them." She said softly, walking with him along the edge of the wall. She had been here for what felt like forever, the first 6 months of her life was her only memories of Taiyae and then she had ventured to Alactitis after the floods in Taiyae and then here with the rest of Tortuga after the volcano eruption in Alacritis. Seemed that tragedy followed the female wherever she went. "What do you think of it so far? Think you might be able to thrive here?" She asked conversationally, slowing so that she was walking shoulder to shoulder with the younger male. She cast her gaze at the male and smiled once more before she lowered her gaze to the ground again. The female didn't especially want to remember her past, none of it was pleasant to her. She was trying to turn over a new leaf on the island with Taurig and Maija but years of doing the same thing was hard to break. Could she ever really change? |

The female introduced herself and the name that rolled off her tongue had a very strange and tantalizing taste to it when he ran it through his head. The shortened version that she offered him was even more so do to it's simplicity. Vi. Yes, something about this female before him had an appeal to it. She was interesting. He could sense it in her too. She had a story to tell, because for every thought that she offered him, there was another that she with held. But he didn't push. He dare not push. He knew that he couldn't be the only one here with an unpleasant story to recall. And so he cared not of her origins. If she wanted, she'd offer it to him. When she offered him a formal welcome to the land of Alacritis, he responded with a polite bow of his head in turn. But then, she started to walk and signaled from him to follow her. Now this was something that caught him a little by surprise. An attractive red she wolf leading him to some place he know not where, it caused a brief thrill to run through his body, perhaps something do to his still young mind, a few faint traces of his adolescence clinging for dear life. The thought amused him as well too, because he never wanted himself to fully grow up. And so, he rose to his paws and began to trot along side her unsure of where it was she was leading him. Where others might grow concerned, this only caused a big toothy grin to form on his face and the sneaking tendrils of exhaustion to halt their advance. He forgot at once that he'd failed to sleep last night. Curiosity bubbled up in the brute, this female that was leading him on. He wanted to know so much about her and yet he felt so hesitant to ask. Newol didn't mind speaking about his past, but then, his had only been difficult, and not terrible. He felt that there was much the different story with Viridiana. But as they walked, she questioned him again. And so he answered her honestly with a friendly tone. "Well, I must say, the company has proven fantastic. And the land itself holds no end of surprises. Yes there are a handful of packs to be mindful of, but I do believe that I could certainly do very well for myself here." Then, raking his brain for a way to turn this into some kind of opening without stirring up anything overly painful, he eyed her and asked in a very smooth and handsome voice, as he was trying to impress. "And what of you? How do you rate your chances here?" |
