What's This?

The structure that they had come across was, well, on the rather unique side, Birch thought. It was a nice place to come to, at least, to visit. But sadly it was not the place they were looking for. The maple brute would let out a soft sigh, glancing over his shoulder at his beautiful mate, ?owyn. He was well aware that the search for their perfect place, for their pack, would take time. He would fall back, not that he had been much further ahead of her, and gaze the sweet fae a quick lick on the cheek. His light purple eyes shown with a bright light, so full of happiness and life. Even if they were wandering different tettories for a while it wouldn't matter, as long as he had her by his side. Still a gnawing guilt had clawed at Birch when they had left the cave, and he had discussed with ?o heading to check on his sister in a couple days to allow her to know what was going on and inform her of the wonderful news.
The brute's tail would wag a bit as he glanced back to the rock structure that they were coming up upon. It was tall and looked a bit thick... it would have always had to have been here, right? Birch would slow to a stop, looking to his lovely companion. "Not a bad sight... though I wonder how the formation of this rock was caused." He would watch his lovely ?owyn, ears pricked forward. He was curious to see what her take on the place was. Then, an idea struck the brute. They hadn't eaten anything yet. "Shall I go hunting for us? This looks like an okay place to stop and rest." Even if it was a bit cold... but well, the territory was in the North after all.

The dark tawny lady followed her mate with a very large smile spreading across her. The lady had been elated since she had met Birch, she had been gathering followers though she had not seen Wraithe in a while. The man had said he would work with them towards his future but she was hesitant to let him in still. His loyalty was pledged too blind. "We can both go to hunt, my love." She offered with a smile. She loved working out, training. Eo felt a strange attachement to the north ever since she had met Raisa, the wolf who would ally with her and the other one who was shifty, Virgil.

The smile upon ?owyn's face brightened his mood at least. She looked so very happy, and honestly the brute felt much the same. Since their meeting, and coming together, things were falling in place. He finally felt a part of him that had felt so empty before get filled. Having a mate, as well as one day starting a family, had crossed Birch's mind a number of times when he had lived with his old pack. Now that he had ?o the thoughts of having a family had returned. He wanted to speak to his mate about the allies she had gained for their pack as well, and what she thought of each of the wolves she had come across here. "Alright. Well, what are you in the mood for then?" He would leave their choice of prey up to her. He wasn't too sure there would be any herd animals along this stretch, but next to the rocky structure, as well as the area around, could provide homes to smaller prey animals... and they might come across some birds or something as well.

?owyn licked her lips as she thought about what kind of prey she wanted to munch on as a meal with her mate. She thought about the terrain and took that into account, after all it wasn't like they would find fish in the rocky terrain that surround them. "How 'bout some rabbits?" She asked as she caught the faintest trail of them. The heat on her back felt good as she waited for Birch to take the lead. She was eager to start living her life, in her mind she already had. She would lead a pack, she would lead it with the man she loved and she would raise a family with him in the security of this pack.

Rabbits huh? "Sounds like a plan to me." The male would reply, flicking his ears forward. He would take in a deep breath, scenting the air. There was a faint scent of their prey in the air, and judging by how scent grew slightly stronger as they moved on they were definitely heading in the right direction. The brute would grin, slipping ahead of his mate and giving some distance between them. They would work together -- making sure that their prey wouldn't escape. The brute would drop to a stalking position, aware of the sun on their backs, yet the breeze, now warmer that he wasn't in the shade of the rock wall, tugging at his fur. His purple eyes would narrow as he focused, tail moving out directly behind him for balance. Then, up ahead, he would make out the form of their prey. He would give a soft blow of air through his nose, enough to get his mate's attention, before circling a bit more to the outside. There was no way this rabbit was going to escape them.

?owyn grinned and pursued her mate, letting him reach his distance so they could have a better chance of catching more food. The shadows seemed to suite her as she hid in them in wait. Her paws grazed above the ground with silence and finesse. She narrowed her eyes slightly when she tensed her back legs to launch at the prey. A wicked smile grew on the normally benevolent woman's muzzle. She eyed Birch who was on the other side in the shadows once more. A grin grew as she waited for his signal. The rabbit would be theirs and then they could rest a while.

They were both in position, both aware of the prey that was ahead. The wind was in their favor, and all that was left now was the coordination that would allow them to catch the meal. His body would move forward, almost as if he was moving on autopilot now. This was such a familiar thing to the brute now, though he was getting used to being able to hunt with someone else again. It was a nice feeling, and one that he had certainly missed. Rather than a smile, a serious look of determination would be set upon Birch's face. It seemed out of place when one would normally see such a warm, light-hearted or playful smile on his maw. He would glance to ?owyn, motioning with his head and giving a flick of his right ear before shooting off. His task was simple, driving the rabbit in the direction of his mate so that she could cut it off and catch it. A simple yet efficient tactic, at least in his mind.

T'was the time for her to wait for the rabbit to scurry in her direction. A smile immediately grew across her muzzle as both her mate and the rabbit dared to dart towards her. She cut off the rabbits run by pouncing on it. It was theirs. She ended it's life, saying a blessing in her head. She was not, by any means, a religious wolf. However, she did feel the need to thank whatever powers might be up there for presenting them with food. Force of habit or a thought that crossed her mind every time she ate? Probably a mix of both. She grinned and said nothing as she looked to her mate.

Their tactic would work smoothly, as natural as a stream flowing along the path nature had cut out for it. Birch would pad up next to ?owyn, a more relaxed posture settling across his form. He would gently nuzzle her cheek, a content feeling rising in his chest. "Flawless, as it should be when we work together." He would look upon her with gentle light purple eyes and then flick his gaze to the rabbit. For a moment he would bow his head, taking a moment of silence to honor the rabbit's spirit. It was something he had developed in habit while living in his old pack. The alpha's daughter had done such a thing, so he had picked up on it, since he often hunted with her. The Birch would lift his head and look to his beloved once more. "What do you make of this place, my love?" He would wait for her to take the first bite. It was just how he was.

Flattery. He offered her flattery and she smiled, the heat rising to her cheeks as she nuzzled his neck with a soft smile. Her eyes were calm as he asked for her opinion of the place. "It's strange, majestic even. Pure beauty." She said in response to her mate. She was curious as to how his adventure with Aranya had gone [as it is assumed that this is after that?] but there were times for questions later. She nudged the rabbit for him, insisting that he take the first bite. She would not take 'no' for an answer. She looked at him with that eyeing. There was no saying no.

Ooc:: Well the way I wrote it, since I wasn't thinking, was that he went with ?o, back tracked after they traveled in the North a while. Especially since because of the storm / ash they would have likely stayed in an area that would avoid them. So I guess it would technically be after this one. Maybe he had gone to find her though, before, and couldn't find her, so decided to go with ?owyn for a while and then check for her again... since for a while she was put inactive.
---
The male would feel the gentle touch of his love, her gentle nuzzle leaving his neck just a bit warmer where she had graced his body with her own. He would listen to ?owyn speak, giving a nod of his head. "Quite beautiful indeed. I do wonder though, how such a strange landmass could be formed. It seems to stretch on for some time." He had yet to tell her that when he went to search for his sister it had been in vain. He was sure Aranya had been off with her companion, Nuka, and he meant to go back and check for her sometime soon. He would chuckle softly, looking upon his mate with a gentle gaze. He could tell by the look in her eyes that she wanted him to take the first bite of their prey, and that she wasn't going to take protesting. "Alright, alright." He would lower his head, tearing away some of the flesh. The taste of blood was welcome... and he knew this meat would give him, as well as ?o, energy to keep going.

OOC: Okayyyyyy <3
?owyn wondered briefly how it was formed after he had told her that he wondered himself. "Some forces in this world are powerful and strange. Perhaps they caused such a magnificent thing." She suggested to her love with a kind and light tone. A smile forming on the breaches of her muzzle as he took a bite from the rabbit and offered her some. She bended her head down and took a large bite from the rabbit. Blood. Meat. That was completely delicious. She loved food, and this rabbit was no exception. She had done her best to hide her heat cycle. She didn't know if she was ready for pups.

Birch would listen to his mate's words, giving a thoughtful nod of his head. There were indeed things in this world, things unknown yet presence, gracing the land with their beauty, their force, and their will. The brute would swallow his mouthful of food, swishing his tail back and forth happily against his back legs. He would slowly pull back, looking at ?owyn with a gentle gaze. He cared for her deeply, more than anything. He had noticed her heat, though he had noticed too she tried to mask the scent of it. The male hadn't said anything thus far about it, but perhaps it was better to bring such things up rather than leave them unspoken.
As his mate would eat, he would speak softly to her. "We've been together a little while now.... things are moving quickly for us it seems." The brute would twitch his ears. "But just because things are moving quickly doesn't mean we have to rush into anything you are not ready for." A gentle smile would appear on Birch's face. "I know it's your time, but if you are not ready for a family yet we don't have to have one. But if you want one I would be more than happy to start one with you, once we find a place to settle down." Birch would affectionately lick her ear. "It is your call, my beloved ?owyn, so just remember that."

He had noticed. She listened to him and curiosity struck. She hadn't wanted to say anything until she was sure that she could handle being a mother. The issue wasn't whether or not she wanted children. She just didn't think that she would be a good mother. She took a deep breathe and a small smile graced her muzzle. When he had first started speaking it made it seem like he didn't like her. She heard him out and that was definitely not the case. Her dark tawny fur connected with his when she nuzzled his neck again. "Of course I want children, Birch." She whispered to him, her eyes light as she looked into his eyes. Sincerity. "I-I just don't know if I'd be a good mother." She admitted shyly. She had said it.

Birch would relax his body completely as ?o nuzzled into his neck again, her touch the most soothing thing the male had ever felt. Softly, in a whispered tone his beloved's words would reach him. The thought of having children with ?owyn one day made his heart light, especially because it was something that she wanted as well. He would never, ever want his mate to do something that she wasn't comfortable with. Though, at her next words, Birch would frown, looking at her with a gentle yet serious expression. "There is no doubt in my mind that you would be a good mother, ?o. You are kind, yet you can be stern when you need to be. I know the instinct is there, and you know I'll be right by your side the whole way." The male would lick her between the ears again. "So do not stress, my love. Alright?" He would smile a bit more, twitching his ears happily.

The flattery that Birch gave her made her feel more comfortable at the prospect of being a mother. ?owyn took a deep breathe and nodded. He assured her that she would be a good mother but ?o still was hesitant. "Alright. Alright." She said in a relaxing tone, a soft smile growing across her snout. "Did you find your sister, my love?" She asked with a new piqued curiosity to get the attention off of what she thought she could and could not do. ?owyn was dying to meet her sister-in-law and the companion Birch had said that Aranya was traveling with.

At the mention of his sister Birch would frown, shaking his head sadly. "No... I was hoping we might find Fontamo Bay soon so that I could go back and check around where I had last seen her. I had told her I'd check back on her and Nuka after a little while of roaming Alacritia, but they weren't there when I came back. I assumed that they had taken some time to explore as well... I just hope I run into her again soon." The thought of losing Aranya again for a second time cut deep into Birch's heart. He would give a soft sigh at the thought. "I'm sure that she's alright though... she had Nuka with her, and she has grown into a strong woman." But were those words for his mate... or for himself?

She could see the worry that bothered his heart and she frowned. His sister had gone missing? Well they had to find her. It was quite obvious how much his sister meant to her and the words he used to comfort her made it obvious he himself was the one who needed comfort. "We'll find her Birch." ?owyn offered with a small smile spreading across her muzzle. She only hoped that he believed it when she said that they would. The idea of finding Fontamo Bay for them to start their home, their family, even without a pack for now, was tantalizing.

Birch would nod as the words left ?o's mouth. They would find her. They had to... she was the one in his family he had been most attached to... and he couldn't... would be able to deal with losing her again. No. They'd find her. The brute would sternly repeat the sentence a few times within his mind, as if making it a solid, definite thing. The brute would finally allow a small smile to cross his face again, a light shining in his purple eyes. "We'll figure it out... and you're right. We will." There was nothing they couldn't do when they were together. They would accomplish all trials that came their way.

Her eyes were soft as she comforted her mate. Perhaps they should continue to search for her? Yes, they could look together if he didn't mind. She could also go recruiting while he sought out his sister. Perhaps it would be much better if when he did find her, that she not know about ?owyn until Birch felt it was right to tell her. Who knew thought. "I met a wolf named Raisa, she is also starting a pack and she said that she wants to possibly ally with us when we get it up. I know her to be trustworthy but I want your opinion of her. I know where she is so after we find your sister, perhaps we can visit her?" She offered with a small smile.
