Ebony paws struck the ground with minimal noise, though small tendrils snaked their way from under her immense paws as bits of snow fled in fear, creating tiny snowballs that grew in size as they hurried down the mountain below. Blessed be the snow that still managed to coat the ground here, it was magnificent compared to the damned heat of the lands below. The trails crisscrossing the faces of the mountain range provided an opportunity to explore a strange new place for the dame, and she took it. A little ways up the hill a small cave presented itself, and she trotted towards it, lowering her cranium between her shoulders to peer inside the lower entrance curiously. A pair of tiny jaws came snapping out of the darkness, attempting to latch on to her nose but not coming close to her immense height. She chuckled, watching the young coyote snarl angrily and try to bite off her feet. Giving a shake of her muscular limb, she dislodged the youngster and shoved it back into it's den. With a huff of exasperated boredom, she padded away as the yipping of the little beast faded away. As she travelled higher and higher, the beast discovered another cave, higher on the mountain she was currently navigating.

Finally would she arrive within the dark confines of the massive cavern, mismatched optics sparkling with intrigue. Strange paintings littered the walls, clearly not created by wolves or any other beasts she knew. Tall, pale silvery audits would give an absent flick as she padded closer, wickedly curved talons clicking on the stone of the floor. She would observe the images curiously, taking in the rough portrayals of flames engulfing cities while groups of two legged creatures huddled far away in burrows. This place still stank of their fear, and it was an interesting new story for the woman. She gave it one last look before padding towards the back of the cavern. Here was a littering of mouldy furs and shiny things, cloaking the skeletons of what must have been the two legged creatures from the earlier paintings. They looked to have died all in their sleep. A peaceful, affectionate picture was painted in the way they were all laid out. Larger skeletons still had limbs wrapped around the frames of small ones, obviously children, and one could find strong bonds forged here. Some of the large ones were huddled against each other affectionately, protecting them from the worst of whatever could have been slowly killing them. Crown would tilt quizzically to one side as she padded towards one form, huddled in a far corner and clutching it's hind legs to it's chest. It had been excluded from the pack, outcast but still allowed to stay with them. It's jaw hung open, empty sockets staring out at the entrance in what might have once been pure horror.

Unwilling to soil the tomb with her presence any longer, she left. A new cave seemed to be the next order of business. After all, she could not stay here with that lone skeletal beast's eyes boring into her back. So she trotted off, skidding down the slope in search of something new. Absently did she meander along the trails, lost in thought as she awaited the next thing that would spark her interest.

The man navigated the mountain paths nimbly. He had stumbled once, but recovered quickly. It was cold out there. Paws struck the terra rhythmically. When his eyes fell upon the mouth of a cave, he headed straight for it. He walked along, speeding up a little but still cautious, dying to get some shelter from the cold. He dived inside, a huge cavern. His eyes were instantly drawn to the paintings on the wall. They were not painted with any great skill, crude and rough. He was drawn in particular to a burning village. The two legged creatures in it were fleeing. The others depicted scenes of hunting, he did not pay as much attention to them. his orbs swept the cavern when they came to a rest upon the remains of what must have been the two legged creatures from the painting. The figures that were clearly the adult were clinging to the smaller figures. The babies. He felt a pang of sorrow. But they were long gone. Dead, for a very long time. He moved out of the cavern, not wanting to stay with the tortured souls that were trapped forever in the cavern.

He found himself wandering the desolate corridors of the cavern. When he rounded a corridor his eyes met a woman. Jet black, with an ivory mask and bi-coloured optics. She was beautiful, but he didn't see any women in the same way since he had fallen for Kaala. She was also huge, towering over him. He wandered lazily over, hoping that she was not violent as she would destroy him in a fight. "Hello there miss." He stood calmly behind her, waiting for her to look behind her.

A voice at her rear captured her attention, a male voice that seemed quite polite but slightly wary. Easy to conceal was the grin that curved upwards her dark lips at the thought that a man might be frightened by her. She turned around, expecting the usual men she knew, giant brutes capable of levelling a forest with a look, and boy was she surprised. Mismatched gaze of eerie magma and blizzard tones would flick downwards to take in the stranger before her. One eyebrow would raise curiously as she met his gaze, easily giving him a quick once over to determine if he was a threat. "Good day, sir." She would reply curtly, dipping her crown in greeting. Slowly she would lower her haunches to the terra and regard the strange male curiously. He was clearly not a child, but he was so small, it was a new thing to her entirely. "May I help you?" She would inquire, tilting her cranium to the side slightly as she took in the tiny man's appearance. What in the hell was this? Were all the men here stunted, or was she previously living in a realm of giants?

With her greeting and tip of the head he smiled and tipped his head at her, repeating her gesture. He sighed as the woman lowered herself. He did not need people to lower themselves down to his height to make him feel bigger. He was completely fine with looking up to people, he had been doing it all his life, and never cared. When she asked the next question he couldn't help but laugh. The typical assumptions that people made floated into his head, "physically challenged", a large pup, there were so many others. "I am fine miss, you may stand if you want, there is no need to try and make me feel taller." He smiled kindly at the masked ebony giantess.

The man was polite, returning her greeting in kind and seeming to notice her seating herself with a little more insult than she would have expected. He replied to her inquiry calmly, pointing out that she did not need to seat herself to make him feel a little less like he was a puny creature. She chuckled, enjoying the conversation already. "I was not sitting for your benefit, sir, but my own. I have been walking nearly all day, and I was in need of a rest." She explained with an amused grin, holding his own pale green gaze with a mismatched stare of her own. Interesting, at least now she knew how to go about meeting smaller wolves. Usually she was considered smaller, or somewhere around average height for women. So she was usually the one being talked down to, and didn't know what to do when it came to talking to those of a less grand stature. Muscles would tense as she shook out her thick coat, which was slightly thinner for summer, but still quite sleek and dense. Pulling a twig from it's place burrowed in the fur of her shoulder, she spat it out upon the stone beside her and returned her fire and ice gaze to the man before her.

A yawn would stretch her jaws for a brief moment before she looked to the stranger, finally realizing that she had not introduced herself nor received a name for this man. "May I be so bold as to ask your name, sir?" Cool soprano lyrics would inquire as she regarded the male curiously, wondering what someone of such stature and demeanor could be called. Did he have a nickname like herself, or was that yet another custom of the clan? She would soon find out, among other things.

He nodded and smiled as she explained that it was for her own benefit. Come to think of it, he had been on his feet for most of the day. He didn't know why he had wandered so far from ebony, but he had only been gone for a few days. They wouldn't miss him. "May I be so bold as to ask your name, sir?" he shifted his weight from his right side to his left, his right side was aching. Of course you may, Fili Durin, Ebon Knight of Ebony, at your service. He tipped his head respectfully. And you m'lady? he glanced to her, grey green orbs studied her. Nice eyes, ebony fur with white ears and a white mask. Pretty. Very Pretty. He let his eyes wander around the cave while awaiting her reply.
