Days had passed since his last meal and the effects were beginning to take their toll on him. His eyes were glossy and sunken in, his nose was dry and his belly poked out for all the wrong reasons. The only thing he could keep down with moderate success was water, and even then the results were usually disastrous. Unlike an adult who could probably handle the illness better, Nemesis was suffering. When he wasn't hallucinating, he was seizing and if he wasn't seizing he was so shaky he couldn't stand. Far too young to question life and death, the boy was beginning to wonder what it would be like to just sleep forever. In his dreams he wasn't sick. He ran around with his siblings, chewed on Gaia's ears and played kings and queens until it just wasn't fun anymore...and then he played Thor.

The god of Thunder was by far his favorite god. Nemesis wanted to be just like him. Well, except for the dying part. He wanted to throw lightning and draw everyone's attention with thunder. He wanted to be loud and he wanted to beat up Loki. Yes, indeed, Thor was his favorite. He thought Nemesis was a cool god too..until he learned that Nemesis was a girl. Not that there was anything wrong with girls, it was just that he was named after her and she wasn't a he. Nemesis! A girl's name! Even though he was a boy! What was his mother thinking?

Sighing, Nemesis closed his eyes. Having forgotten that there was snow on the ground, he'd pulled himself outside the den to lay in the sun because he'd gotten cold and then had been too tired to crawl back in. Instead he just laid where he'd fallen; with his limbs tucked under him and his chin buried in the snow. He probably looked like a corpse, but he felt like one so it didn't matter too much.

The snow crunched under Hani's paws. What to do? What to do? The sickness was in the clan, though Hani didn't have it. She didn't have access to many herbs either. She would make a point of searching for more later. For now, she carried something of a scarce meal as well as some wilted, probably frost-bitten dandelion. She knew the dandelion would be more important to help the sick ones be able to keep something down, even if just water.

Hani walked towards the dens of the members she had never met, hoping to be of some help. When she got there, there was a small darkened pup sprawled outside his den. He was just lying there. Hani's heart skipped a beat, "Ohh, no no no no no!" her thoughts echoed in her head as her body went numb. The herbs and food dropped from her maw as she rushed to the pup. She nosed him, and felt his ribcage move in a breath. Hani's heart dropped to her stomach. What was she supposed to do? She moved to get the pup back in his den, hesitating for a moment to call out for help. Hopefully someone would come. Anyone. Even Helios.

After meeting with the newest ally of Olympus and returning to her den to gather the necessary herbs, Natalya set forth for Virgil's den. Only the pups remained to be cured and the Centurion was not interested in the slightest in waiting any longer than necessary to have the job done. She arrived quickly, her companion flying overhead with the cure clutched firmly in his talons, and found Hani on the scene with one of Virgil's ill children, whom Poe confirmed to be the boy Nemesis.

Hani. We have the cure. Please try to rouse the child so that we can administer it quickly and find out if his siblings are resting within the den as well. Her words were spoken quickly and forcefully, emphasizing the rush behind them. Poe released the herbs from his grasp and lowered himself onto his mistress's shoulder to await any command she would have for him.

Nemesis, although very much unwell, wasn't above playing tricks. When one of his packmates approached he laid very still and kept his eyes closed. Of course he was really tired and unwilling to move around much, but the boy was awake and alert; the only hitch in his awareness being the occasional hallucination, but (as far as he knew) he hadn't had any in awhile.

He allowed himself to be picked up and hauled back into the den (which is where he wanted to go) but almost gave it up when she howled for help. He felt a little bad, but only a little and no where near enough to confess that he was still alive. Did she think he was dead? Did it look like he wasn't breathing? He was trying really, really hard not to breath but he kept having to.

Another packmate came onto the scene and when she spoke to Hani the urgency in her voice nearly made the boy confess that he was awake, if only to spare them further anxiety. In the end the desire to push limits kept him silent and unmoving. He lay exactly how Hani had left him; hardly daring to breathe should his breath give him away. In all honesty he was beginning to get a little nauseous from all the moving and from keeping his eyes closed. This discomfort made the prank less appealing. Still, the boy didn't make a sound; waiting with concealed anticipation of their next move.

Laz gave permission to PP.

Hani was relieved when Natalya was the first to come on to the scene. The shadowed bird above her carried herbs, which Natalya claimed to be the cure. Just as before with the bird when Hermes- rest his soul- needed them, Hani jumped for the herbs as it dropped them. Natalya had ordered Hani to try to administer the cure, but the pup still wasn't moving. Hani glanced back between the woman and the pup, the herbs swinging in her maw. How could Natalya not see that the pup was on the verge of death? How could Hani possibly just rouse it? She couldn't, but she knew how to administer the herbs anyway. Healer Hani had this.

The girl chewed a portion of the herbs until it was a bitter paste in her maw. Padding over to the pup, Hani put her paw on the hinge of his maw and pushed slightly. It wouldn't be comfortable for the pup, but it would get the maw open. Once she had achieved opening the pup's maw, Hani quickly, as she had with Hermes- rest his soul- shoved her maw into the other's and spat out the herbs, hopefully deep enough for the pup to swallow, and prayed that this outcome would be better than that of Hermes- rest his soul-.

This was a test of sorts. Hani did not yet know it, but Natalya did. Having the cure here and knowing the children were not yet dead (for she could not smell it on the air), the Centurion had little worry for how her mentee would handle the situation. No matter what she did, there was plenty of time for the children to be saved. Because of this confidence, Natalya sat silently to the side, waiting for the cue from her companion. And when he uttered that the job was just about done, she smiled and spoke up.

"Hani, come sit by me. I'm sure he will come to shortly, but for now we should observe his progress." Her words came just as Hani shoved the herbs into the child's mouth and she prayed a reaction would come soon.

Still playing dead boy, Nemesis allowed his mouth to be manipulated. It didn't feel very good, but he let it slide, not considering what was about to happen next. All he knew was that the healers were convinced that he was in trouble. This was going to be soooo funny! He could hardly wait. Honestly, the boy wasn't sure how he was going to spring to life yet, but he was sure he could come up with something that would blow them away. Maybe he'd get in trouble for worrying them, but it would be worth it.

The young healer succeeded in prying his mouth open and Nemesis continued to lay passively. That is, until she put her mouth inside of his and poked a glob of something STICKY and GROSS down his throat. The boy howled, sucking in the chewed mass and jerking his head back at the same time. The sloppy glob hit the back of his throat with a splat and he choked, retching and squealing as it clung stubbornly to the inside of his mouth. If he hadn't been so weak, the boy would have been on his paws and flying around the densite as if his tail were on fire. Instead he rolled onto his back and, still squealing, began clawing at his face, green slime oozing from his nose and mouth.
