Black-painted paws paced restlessly through the ruins that littered this land. She had passed her den some time ago but instead of retiring for a cat-nap after setting herself to a night shift of patrolling the borders - raiders came most often at night, did Ebony wolves not know this? - she had continued past it and on closer to the rock garden. The rock garden would likely be busy, however, since it seemed much of the pack chose to den there to be near Raisa. Raisa, who had vanished somewhere. Not wanting to deal with her packmates for the moment, Katja stopped short of the edge of the steppe.

Leaping atop a short section of wall, the silver-ticked woman lowered herself into a sprawl with a soft growl. What was she even doing here at this point? Ebony was a fading dream, her cousins and sister had vanished, and the only tenuous link holding her here was her oath to Raisa. "Freya mich leiten," she whispered in the general direction of the sky. "Ich wei? nicht, wo ich von hier aus gehen."

"Speech."

You are the night time fear

You are the morning when it's clear

He prowled the ruins of an ancient civilization. Massive stone sculptures carved by mysterious beings? or possibly creatures from out of space. But that's what he was here to find out. Sigmarr the Sagacious was here to find out. Wise beyond his years the young warrior was here to find the cause of the civilizations sudden banishment and there it was?. a massive black dragon?.

Sigmarr lay in wait, his tail twitching as he watched the odd woman approach. She spoke funny but he liked her stories. Part of him wondered if he might get in trouble for being this far out but he he wasn't sure he cared. Nope he could only eye his target? the tail of the woman who was currently imagining to be a dragon and he the brave warrior. All in?

Sigmarr sprang forward with a growl, fur and hackles raised, ears pinned back as his front legs reached out to swipe at her tail, fangs seeking to bite into flesh. Today he would taste victory!

Katja felt she had barely settled herself when a prickling feeling crawled up her back. Freya's warning that something was not quite right with the world around her. Eyes shuttered, she flicked her ears, catching the sound of tiny pawsteps, warned just in time. A tiny growl sounded behind her, and Katja dug her toes in for traction as she spun - deftly whisking her tail out of reach barely in time, tiny teeth scraping over the skin but unable to hold, and replacing it with a gaping maw of teeth of her own. A fierce snarl tore the air between them before Katja withdrew a step and smoothed her face once more. Her attacker was one of Raisa's pups, the boy who had expressed interest in her stories. He was no enemy of hers, simply a boy playing at being a warrior. Black-ringed tail flicked behind her; the wound stung but no lasting harm was done. "Too much noise you do make when walk, boy," she grumbled, though she was secretly pleased at the attempt. The boy had some potential if there was someone willing to take him and shape him. The thought tugged once again on the dark emotions coiling inside, reminding her that it was Raisa's duty as the pups' only parent to be training them. But where was she? If someone didn't do it they would be useless as adults.

Studying the pup with more interest now, Katja considered. "What name have you?"

"Speech."

Fangs slid along her fur but failed to catch hold instead snapping over empty air. Sudden a rush of fangs came toward him and he stumbled back startled by their sudden appearance, his heart racing. It was enough to pull him out of his imagined fantasy and into reality. Suddenly he felt really embarrassed.

"Too much noise you do make when walk, boy,

Sigmarr frowned but decided that what she said was fair enough. It wasn't like him to question the wisdom of adults. Other pups, heck yea but grown-ups usually knew a lot more things than he did, especially this particular female. "Ok? so how do I walk quieter? Oh and I'm Sigmarr. Sigmarr Skaldbjorn Xanilov!" He puffed up his chest, taking pride in his name but for all his bluster he was eager and willing to listen and learn.
