The beasts muscles coiled beneath him, powerful legs streamlining a path unknown. Grasses were trampled beneath him, the sun upon his back and causing his dark pelt to shift colors like a ravens wings. Head was held high, and today he was feeling good. He had met a woman not too long ago, one of his own kind and what could be better? He had thought he was all alone, the only equine left in a world of nothing. After the war had wiped out everyone in his kingdom(or so he thought), he had been alone and seeing nothing but creatures who wanted to kill him or others that he didn't bother with. His leisurely charge would bring him into the hands of many hanging trees, willows that seemed to touch the ground. They swayed in many directions, the trunks twisting and rising as if they were contortionists ready for a show. He slowed his pace, hooves dropping to a steady beat as he walked among the trees. The even sound of croaking was heard, and where there were frogs there was water. He was feeling thirsty, and so he would follow the sounds until he came onto the banks of a rather large pound, lily pads floating upon its surface and their inhabitants leaping into the water at his approach. Keen eyes gazed over the pond, its gentility and serene looks causing him to feel calm and relaxed. The titan would lower his head for a drink, the surface rippling ever so slightly with his touch. Pale blue eyes gazing ahead at the dragonflies and frogs, while his elongated tail swayed gently with the cool breeze. |

Obsidian had left Rikku in Odette and Erani?s care and now she trotted quickly through the unclaimed lands. Her heart was almost hammering with nerves and excitement. The stallion?s scent was fresh, the tracks left behind by his big hooves clear as the moon in a cloudless sky. She was getting close. Her pace slowed, hooves falling carefully onto soft patches of grass, as she came closer. That Ryuk seemed to hang around in the west was pleasing to the mare. It meant little travel to reach him. She?d just come away from Erani?s meeting, and so much Erani had told them all. Heavens? A cougar as an ally? She would have to get used to this. She wasn?t fond of felines, not after her first cougar encounter after becoming a free horse. The big cat in the siege had made her like them even less. But if Erani was willing to entrust this Laila with her pack?s safety, Obsidian supposed she could try to learn to like the cat. Ryuk?s heady male scent brought her mind away from uncomfortable thoughts to the present, and she shifted to ultra sneak horse mode, hooves falling lightly as she approached. Ah, she?d recognize that big horse rump anywhere, with it?s unusual looking brand and scars. The white feathered socks and white tail on a black base was a dead give away too. She stifled a grin, reached her neck out to its full extent, and nipped him lightly just above the tail. Sometimes, she just could not hold her playful side back. She backed quickly out of kicking range; after all, he was a war horse, and could easily go to war mode at an unexpected nip to the rump; unless of course, he might have heard her coming, and feigned oblivion. She knew without a doubt that she was quite taken with the stallion. And she had been able to tell the last she?d seen him, that he likely felt quite the same way. So when she felt she was beyond the range of his hooves, she circled around, coming up beside the great horse, head dropping for a quick sip of water. ?Hello, General Ryuk.? There was a smile to her words. ?Fancy meeting a handsome stallion in these parts.? She peered up at him through one eye, a veil of forelock and mane falling over the deep liquid blue pool. |

The water felt cool upon his tongue, more so as it slid down his throat into his belly. The beast shook away the flies that threatened to land upon his shoulders, ears twisting this way and that as he listened for approaching sounds. At one point, he thought he had heard something. But he paid no mind to it, perhaps just a rabbit or some other small creature nosing about in the bushes. He lifted his head for but a moment, silvery eyes scanning the trees ahead of him before returning to his task. Seldom was anything ever able to sneak upon him, and the fact that Obsidian had been able to achieve such a feat was surprising to him. He felt a touch to his backside, the male startling as water flew under his feet. He fought the reaction to kick, and was glad he had done so once he realized who it was. "Obsidian!" He would exclaim the obvious, though he had been surely surprised that she had approached unheard. He shook his head, pawing the damp ground as he tried to play off his surprise. Though he was fairly sure she could see right through his guise. "It's nice to see you again, Miss Obsidian. I suppose this is quite the popular watering hole, hm?" Silvery eyes gazed at her, his mane free falling towards against his sides and chest as he peered at her. She most certainly had alluring eyes, they suited her. Like the twilight sky breaking through the frame of a midnight colored sky. He had been watching her for longer then he intended to, so with another shake of his head he would lift himself to full height. "What brings you to these parts, Miss?" He would inquire politely, never forgetting his manners to a lovely lady. He wasn't sure why, but she seemed to make him scatterbrained and tongue tied. Something he never was, he led an army for pete's sake! Why was he suddenly unable to think?! |

Obsidian tossed her head with a grin as her nip received a reaction, a soft laugh leaving her velvet muzzle. Her mane fell in a neat mess over her face, shattered fragments of her white star peeking from behind her heavy forelock. ?Me!? Dark liquid blue eyes twinkled as she surveyed the startled stud, tail flicking out, the tips of the hair possibly brushing over his flank as she lowered her head to sip at the water. His transparent attempt at playing it cool after his surprise was rather endearing; it only made him more appealing. His voice came to her ears, and one cocked toward him, a smile pulling at the corner of her mouth. ?I suppose it must be.? Her lyrical voice was amused, and she found the prolonged staring very flattering to her mare ego. She hadn?t had all that much exposure to stallions back at the farm. Oh there were the occasional raunchy pony stallions who escaped their enclosures; ponies always seemed to be masters of escaping human made latches and gates. Dapper especially. Those little stallions thought themselves to be all the highest fad, but really, she liked big, strong stallions? Flick Her tail switched out again as she shimmied a little closer, ears intent on Ryuks voice. ?I was actually looking for you.? Her head lifted away from the cool water, droplets of water falling from the long whisker hairs that had grown out soon after her half planned escape of the farm. Why humans chose to shave the whiskers off horses? noses, she never could understand. It didn?t hurt, but the buzzing things called clippers had tickled like hell. A little sidestep brought her to nearly brushing against the hot hide of the stallion beside her. It was seemingly unconscious, how she moved, but really, she did want to be as close to the fellow equine as she could get. Flick. That was very close. As for his scatterbrained and tongue-tied problem, she had no clue. Flick. Nope. Not a clue. Totally innocent. |

A hearty rumble would resonate within his barrel chest. This woman certainly was amusing, though she was not a child she seemed to have the spirit of one, and yet it was not a bad thing he thought. He nickered softly, glad to have her company once more. She always seemed to know where to find him, perhaps he had attracted a curious individual? The thought was beyond him. Over his head. Oblivious to idea that she had interest in him. He was a scarred beast with a hidden disability, what creature in their right mind would like a devilishly handsome stud like him? Snort, I am such a cocky fool to believe such a thing. She is perhaps, out of my league anyhow. Thoughts both amusing and yet saddening, though they were only for the inner confines of his mind to know. Silver eyes gazed at the star that lied hidden in failure, it was a charming piece of her beautific arsenal. And although he would not admit that he was in a way, attracted to her, he would continue to remain his usual silent self when it came to such matters. They hadn't known each other long, after all. But did it really matter? What if they were the only equines left on the planet now? Who knew! One ear cocked towards the mare upon the mention that she was looking for him. His flank shuddered at the same time as he felt something brush quickly and yet almost discreetly. He blinked, and in that split second...had she gotten closer? His own tail flicked behind him, though it would not brush her flank but her lower leg. Whether accidental or purposeful, he would not give it away. If she wanted to play games, then he would play...it was a nice change, no longer having to lead an army. Retirement perhaps, was on its way. And this could possibly be the start of a new beginning. Though he retained his old ways, he could not bring himself to remain quietly serious around the female. It seemed as if her energy seeped into him from the space between them, she was contagious! The beast snorted lightly, glancing at the mare as the next thing he realized they were nearly touching coats. When had she gotten so close? Was he so engrossed in his thoughts that he hadn't noticed her sneaking her way to him? "You were looking for me, you say? What for, Miss Obsidian?" He usual deep and booming voice had reduced to that of a softer and quieter tone. Head turning to look at her, the pair nearly nose to nose though he could feel his whiskers touching barely the point of her nose. He hadn't meant to, but the proximities in which they stood were very close, and could have possibly been avoidable...but to him, this position was quite fine. Quite fine indeed. |
